Weather stripping provided not good. Comes unstuck and does not fit well against patio door. Cat flap shrunk and leaves wide gaps on either side allowing air through. Not a good fit. Replacement flap expensive on line. Not available at Petsmart store where I bought the door.
A/C and heating bill much higher because of this door.
It is like having an open window.

Works great and my dog loves his new freedom. A little expensive but totally worth it and easy to install. Just have to drill 6 small holes and screw in the screws.

I bought the patio door for my two boxers. The largest is 70 lbs. I ordered the size 130 lbs. Both dogs were hitting their back when getting in and out of the door. They should design one on a better height then weight.

Not worth buying

This dog door is a big waste of money. The window sweep that you are supposed to put on the back of the sliding door would not stay up no matter what I used. Duct tape wouldn't even keep it up. The slightest amount of wind was causing the flap to pop open. I'm now out a lot of money and all it's doing is taking up space in the basement.

Good Quality, but one caveat

I like this door. The one warning I would give is to consider buying a larger size door for your dog if they are closer to the upper weight limit. I've got two Chihuahuas - one is about 7-8lbs now and one is 10-11lbs. Bought the small door and IT IS SMALL. :) My larger Chihuahua is under the weight limit, but it will probably take a while to teach her to go through that small hole. She can fit, but barely. So if your dog is close to that 12lb limit, go up a size.

This was very easy to install, and my pets learned to use it quickly. The only complaint is we needed to buy weather stripping and different brackets for it to properly fit.

I have 2 big dogs, a Labrador Retriever (85lbs) and a Rottweiler (100lbs). I've been looking for patio doggie door so they can go in and out during the day while I am at work. I ordered the biggest door available, the Large/Tall supposedly for dogs up to 130lbs. I don't see how that is possible since my Rottweiler that is 100lbs can barely get through the door. The product came quickly and was easy to install. But we will be returning the door since my big boy doesn't fit :( Guess I will have to keep looking

I have a patio door between my kitchen and sunroom. I purchased this door, smallest size, for my cat. It is the best product I have boughten and worth every penny. The cat was at ease using it within 24 hrs. I followed the training instructions that came with the product and it worked well. I love it and my cat can now come and go as he pleases. He loves being in the sunroom. Thanks for making life easier for me and my cat. The bronze color matched my patio door perfect, looks like it was always there.

Doggy door for sliding glass doors

We purchased this last year, we were a little worried about a draft... no draft here! WOW! What a great product. We are again purchasing another one, this time we are getting a bigger one. We've always had small dogs and just purchased a large breed. I am sure she will figure it out in no time, just as my little ones did. I put one kid on the inside and one kid on the out side both with treats... my dogs learned within minutes how to use the door... my cat was self taught, she watched the dogs and figured it out her self... I guess she wanted out in that sunroom so badly that she figured it out.

I would highly recommend this item to anyone who has a dog / cat that can be in the yard alone. For those of you who work and create your animals because no one is home to let them out, do your self and your pet the favor... purchase the doggy door, you will both be happy that you spent the money!

Please remember rescue one, till there's none!!!!

Love This Door

This door is great. My Yorkies are 5 lb and 9 lb, I bought the smallest size and at first I thought the opening looked small but they fit through easily. They were a little scared of the sound of the magnetic closures on the bottom of the door and would not push to open it so I taped the bottom magnet down until they got used to using it. It is very easy to install and very air tight. No inside accidents since I installed this door, my husband balked at buying it and said they would not learn to use it. It only took four days for them to become experts, he now agrees it was one of the best purchases we ever made. I would recommend to anyone with pets.

Cons: needs better tape for weatherstrip

I installed the large and tall patio pet door yesterday. It was easy to put in place and works well. One word of caution though, we have a 100 lb German Shepard that just barely fits through the opening. We bought the large and tall expecting it to be about the same size as our large pet door we bought from you last year, but the opening on this door is about a third smaller. If you have a dog larger than 100 lbs, or taller than a German Shepard, they will struglle fitting through the opening.

went up easily. i put a screw through the top of it into the door frame (hidden on the inside), and below carpet level at the bottom so no obvious damage to door frame. Seems to be working great and dog loves it.

Got the "tall" pet door almost a year ago now for our very big chocolate lab. It took him about a week to get comfortable using it and now he's in and out at will and sometimes helps the cat get out, too. When I first installed it, I just set it in place till I knew he'd use it. Finally went back and installed the door with screws into the door frame and put on the latch. I added a strip of thick self-adhesive weatherproofing between the patio doorand door frame and the pet door, and another between the stationary patio door and the now partially-open sliding door. It's held up with no problem all year and isn't drafty as I'd feared. Great freedom for the dog and peace of mind for us when we're away. Highly recommended.

I have all sliding doors in my Duplex and I didn't want to install a pet door in the glass. This was the perfect solution! My Corgi and my cat both use the door to go play in the backyard whenever they want. It puts my mind at ease while I am at work all day. This door was very easy to install and the weather stripping that is provided prevents drafts. There is a magnet that makes the pet flap close every time. Even the Oklahoma wind does not blow the flap open, but it is easy enough for even my cat to push open with her paw so that she can go through. This product has been perfect!

I bought one of these in the small size for my cats to use, way back in 2001... and finally the flap is needing replacement (fairly inexpensive item).
We must have saved at least the purchase price in unbought-litter in these years, and the cats don't pester us to let them in and out all the time.
The panel itself blends nicely into the sliding glass door and provides a fairly secure closure for the door. The neighbors have complimented us on the looks of the PetSafe door and occasionally, someone will come up and ask where we got it.
If anything happened to this one I'd get a replacement without hesitation. A great investment both you and your pets will appreciate.

I just recently installed this door, and so far I love it! It was very simple to install, I had it put up, without the help of my husband, within 5 minutes of it arriving at my door.
My boxer knew what it was for, and how to use it only after a few treat bribes to go through the panel. My pug, on the other hand is still a little weary of going face first into it, but she does bolt in, after my boxer has already moved the flap.
My biggest concern was drafts. My house is old, crooked, and drafty enough. So I was hoping it wouldn't make it any worse. It didn't! it actually made my doorwall LESS drafty, because of the weatherstripping, and everything that comes with it.
I am so happy with this door. I was absolutely worth every penny!
