When my Pet Smart stopped selling Sun Naturals, I was decided on Gerty Guinea Pig. It's cheap, my guinea pig loves it, great quality. The reason it is 4 stars is i would like a bigger bag.

A Good Treat

I picked up this food because I'd heard good things about it. My guinea pigs have a seperate pellet that they're given daily, but this is an awesome treat. I picked this up mainly because it was very affordable, when I got home and opened up the bag my guinea pigs started wheeking like crazy. I poured a little bit into a bowl and they finished it very quickly. I would recommend this to someone else who was looking for a treat for their guinea pigs, but not as a primary food.

My guinea pig loves this stuff. He eats it up pretty well. Although it seems to be healthy, it's Alfalfa based food, not Timothy. I'm going to keep buying this, but I'm also going to buy another brand from him that is Timothy hay based.
Overall: Great food, just feed Timothy hay along with your pig's diet. :)

There's so much stuff in this bag and it looks like a foraging paradise. While there are pelleted pieces like most of the foods, there's also small chopped alfalfa, whole grains, kibble and even oats and corn that is flaked like a cereal. It seems to have good amounts of Protein & Fiber and even added necessary vitamin C.
However, I would caution owners against using this as the daily staple food; mainly because it seems a bit rich with foods most sources advise to "feed sparingly." I use it as a 'treat'; giving about 1/3 cup once a week, and my guinea pig goes bonkers for it. Even better, I don't find a lot of discarded pieces lying all over the habitat floor!

Gerty's is a very popular food with people because there pigs love it. Unfourtuntly, this food is like candy to cavies... very sugary and not particularly healthy!

Wouldnt recommend for baby guinea pig about 4 months old.They only ate the soft pieces and left the hard ones. Maybe good for adults.

According to my Guinie Pig this stuff is purddy Yummy! My rabbit likes it too! He goes crazy everytime he recognizes the sound of the bag and squeaks up a storm, running to and fro. It's adorable :o) I've tried plenty of other foods and this seems to be the one he likes!
