I use Hikari's Algae wafers for my Apple snails and Amano shrimps. My snails literally race to them and the shrimps are trying to drag them into the decors to hide! Won't dissolve as fast and won't cloudy water. Great for bottom feeding herbivores.

I read all of the reviews and expected the product to be fantastic. If you leave the algae wafer in the tank for any more than 2 hours, it breaks apart and clouds the water. I had to do 90% water changes 3 times since I started using this product because it made to big of a mess for even my filter to clean up. However, my mystery snail does enjoy this.

My cories love these as part of there diet! They gobble them up, but since they are composed of alage, after a while they tend to desinigrate, so after your little bottom feeders eat all they need to fill your bellies, remove them :)

My mystery snails absolutely love these algae wafers. My pleco loves them too. Its fun to watch my aquatic pets chase after the algae wafers as they fall to the bottom of the tank. Hikari offers a very nutritious product as my snails and pleco have grown very large and are quite healthy.

My pleco, who I purchased these wafer for, had absolutely no interest in eating these. Neither did my quote "chinese algae eater" or any of my other herbivores. I'm sure they had good intentions with making these wafers, but none of my fish will eat them.. Maybe theyre just picky.

These lil pellets sure kept my pleco healthy and happy. He always got excited during feeding time and practically chased the pellet down to the bottom. I noticed his over all color and activeness improved when I started to feed him these.

The snails grab these wafers as soon as they hit the bottom of the tank, and even the betta nibbles at them. Just like any food though, you have to be careful not to overfeed or they will make a cloudy mess out of your water (as I learned the hard way). I drop one wafer (broken into 2 or 3 pieces) into the aquarium every night right before I turn the light off, and it seems to be plenty for my 3 mystery snails.

My Gold Mystery Snail and my three ghost shrimp love them. I only have to crush it up and only put in a small piece in. If you put a whole piece when You only have a few bottom feeders then itll cloud up the water, like it did when i got home from school. It depends on how many you have and how much you can consume. But the scary thing is that some of my fish race to it even before the shrimp do, nibble just a bit then realize its not the food they like then see me putting in the flakes.
Pros: smell, price, high quality, taste

I've been feeding my Pleco with these wafers, and it has tripled in size in 6 months.
Plus, these wafer do not cloud the water like cheaper ones.
Gouramis, Rams, random Tetras, and of course snails love these!!!
GREAT BUY!

I feed these to my apple snails. When I dropped a couple in the water, they began racing to the wafers. They eat this food like if they were little cookies. (Its smaller than them)

I only buy this brand because they even look appetizing to me! (although I never plan on trying them for myself)

I put many of these pellets in the bottom of my tank when i go on vacation... my African Dwarf Frog loves these, and so does my algea eater. (they go CRAZYY for them!!!) i can saw my aquatic pets LOVE this food.

As was said, any fish that will pluck at the bottom will go for these things(platys and mollies go bonkers for them). They take a bit to soften up, but then the complete madness ensues.
With corries, you have to be a bit strategic to make sure they get them! I tend to break them into smaller pieces with two in the front to get the mollies/platies fighting over them, then sneak a few in the back for the corries to relish.
As with all Hikari products, absolutely top notch!
Pros: any fish that is capeable of eating them loves 'em, if your fish need algae in their diet, they will get it with these
Cons: make sure the bottom feeders can get their share!

I have three apple snails, two blue and one gold. I wanted to find a good food for them, so I used some of these that I already had. I came in at night and found the gold apple snail eating and rotating one of the wafers at a high rate of speed for a snail. The only thing that I don't like is that you have to learn your bottom feeders eating habits because if these wafers are left in the tank for too long before they are eaten, they will get very mushy, will make your aquarium water very cloudy, and the only way to clean it up is with a gravel vacuum. These will last a long time if you give your bottom feeder one wafer a night, and half a wafer for small bottom feeders. Overall this is a good product and your bottom feeders will most likely enjoy these wafers.
Pros: lasts a long time, a lot for a little, bottom feeders love it, good for ferocious eaters
Cons: will make your water cloudy if untouched

I've been using Hikari wafers for about two years now, even though i bought these for my plecos, as soon as i drop them into the tank all my fish pick at them from the second it enters the water to the moment they touch the sand floor. My snails also love to eat away at these. Overall a great product especially for sucker fish or snails!!

I've used Tetra Wafers and they are decent but they are really small, and so my silver dollars would snag them as they were falling through the water. All said and done they eventually starved my pleco because he wasn't getting any to hit the floor. Got a new Pleco and I switched to Hikari Algae Wafer and problem solved. They are the size of a dime and they sink in a hurry. It's funny because it seems as if he can recognize the sound of them hitting the gravel. Within 10 seconds of me throwing a few in he is on them and working at them with conviction! Silvers can't eat those and my new Pleco has a nice full tummy in the morning. Count on Hikari for a good product. They also make the best Betta food out there.

My mystery snail would only eat these because there was nothing else. However, if I put in sinking catfish pellets, he would ignore the algae wafers. My baby plecos loved this product. Almost every time I approach the tank they are sucking happily, and in the morning it is all gone. Hikari continues to produce high-quality, healthy products. I bought these for my friend as well.
