Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat Ultra Scoopable Litter

Precious Cat Ultra is a unique formulation that combines the heavy non-tracking granules of the classic with a medium grain clay. The result is an excellent clumping litter. To watch a product demo, click on the video camera at bottom left of product image.

This is the Best

I only do without this litter in the winter when we stay in FL (far away from a supplier). Even tho this is an expensive litter, you save much money in the long run because it clumps quickly and doesn't allow moisture to seep to the bottom which keeps you box dirty and hard to clean. Other litters require much more cleaning/refilling so therefore you are buying more. Only semi complaint is that this tracks somewhat and the pellets are a little bigger but with tile or hardwood floors, just get in the habit of cleaning up after each cleaning.

I decided to try Precious Cat Litter because of the great reviews and it has proved itself worthy of trying. It has no fragrance which is a major plus for me because of my allergies and doesn't dust as much as other brands I have tried. Clumping is not always 100 %...I have three cats, all males and they love to use the litter box. Biggest issue for me is the 40 pound bag it comes in which is more economic for a multiple cat home but so difficult to handle. I wish it was packed in a box. All in all good product.

BEST LITTER I'VE EVER FOUND

I'm a cat rescuer who currently has 6 cats (yikes!). I've never found a litter that comes close to "Precious cat" for holding down the odor. People who visit tell me they can't smell the cats at all. (Admittedly I have 4 boxes that I clean at least once daily.)
One of my cats and I are asthmatic so I really like the fact that it's low dust (and unscented).
My only complaint is the weight. Somehow, 40 lbs of PC feels much heavier than most litters. I suspect it's because of the density of the litter. (I actually broke a plastic scooper cleaning the box. But it's great with my new metal scoop.) Nowadays, I just get it delivered so I don't have to do the lifting. But I feel that inconvenience is more than outweighed by its odor control.

This litter is worth every penny!

It seems the other litter brands were producing more and more dust and their scents were getting stronger and stronger. I had to keep the litter boxes in a spare bathtub behind a shower curtain to contain the dust at least to the bathroom. And I was tired of my cats smelling like the litter.
After moving to Nevada, my dear Heidi developed asthma. Because the dust and scent from the litter could possibly be making it worse, I needed an alternative and discovered Dr. Elsey's. I will NEVER go back!
Living in Nevada their is no moisture in the air to control dust. There is virtually NO dust with this brand, no scent and no need to use a bathtub and curtain to contain the dust! After I tried it and praised it to my vet, I found out, she too uses it!
Oh yes, and it's good to know this is much more healthy for my cats, especially Heidi and her asthma.
THANKS Dr. Elsey!

I love everything about this litter. I researched for a long time and decided this met my high standards best, and ever since, it's the only one I use! The best thing is it's completely unscented, and makes cleaning up easy. My cat doesn't have any problems with it either, so it's a winner! Everyone should give it a try.

I purchased this litter because I couldn't stand the perfume smell of other litters. Apparently my cats were not fans of scented litter as there were some "incidents." Since switching to Precious Cat there have been no issues as well as no cats smelling like they rolled in cheap perfume. Also my older cat is no longer wheezy which is a huge plus.

I LOVE this litter. It clumps urine amazingly well, and covers up the smell of feces, until I uncover it and scoop it out, of course. It works perfectly and there is literally no dust. It makes litter box maintenance a breeze.

After reading the great reviews of this litter on this site, I decided to give it a try, as I have a cat with asthma, and the litter I was using, albeit a decent litter, was SO DUSTY! Precious Cat really is dust free- I can't believe it! And it clumps as good as the other stuff I was using, if not better, which is really, really good. The price is reasonable, it's a great product, and I am now a confirmed user.

This litter is the real deal! It truly is dust free, and honestly unscented. It has excellent odor control: I have a box in my bedroom and if you couldn't see it, you wouldn't know it was there. Although I clean the box daily, it has been almost two months since I last changed the litter and still no odor. The clumps are amazing: solid and they don't break apart. The litter doesn't stick to the sides of the box, either (I keep it about 4" deep). I use rolling litter boxes, and this litter sifts beautifully. It does track a little bit, but much less than other clumping litters which I have tried. My cat uses it without complaint, and the bits don't stick to her paws for more than a few feet away from the box, which means that less litter ends up in her mouth during grooming. Yes, it's more expensive than what you can find in the grocery store, but it is absolutely worth it. I am sensitive to dust and scented products, and this is the first litter which has addressed my needs. I can't imagine buying any other litter, even if I do have to travel 35 miles to find it.

I'm not one to write reviews but first time for everything.. This is the best litter out there.. I love the fact that it is dust free!! My house use to smell like kitty litter because of the fog of dust that would settle on everything, not anymore.. Clumps great and easy to clean up after my Siamese cats. They seem to like the fact that they can actually breath now while using the litter box and I can breath when I scoop it out each day.. Wonderful product!!!

Since the rescue used a non-clumping litter I was worried about my kitten adjusting to this when he came home. ZERO problems! In fact, he seems to prefer it. For a clumping litter, it feels more soft/grainy than chunky, but don't let that fool you--the litter definitely does its job and it is easy to sift through. No members of the household have complained about any foul odor, and we keep the litterbox in the upstairs bathroom. When I leave the bathroom door open to scoop and change the litter, my boy is always there to get in and out. Since we are talking about a cat, litter tracking is inevitable; my bathroom rugs catch the very small grains, which aren't sticky and clumpy themselves. I haven't had any problems with it clumping between kitty's toes. No dyes, so his white paws stay white! No perfumes. And the bag is honest about the little-to-no dust!

A good dust free litter

This litter is great for those seeking a clumping dust free litter. I would love to use a non clay litter however, pine, wheat, corn, they all track and do not contain odor at all. The pine actually got stuck to my cats' tails, like dust to a feather. Clay is the only option for me. This clay litter is the best out of all of them. The only con is because it is unscented odor is not always controlled. It masks urine and feces but the litter itself starts to stink after a few days. My solution was to add some scented crystals and get a cheap scented litter and add some to the Precious cat litter. It sounds like a lot of effort but it is worth it to have the base of the litter be a dust free clay litter like Dr Elsey's.

The best

I foster kittens and cats for the Humane Society and therefore go through a lot of litter.
I did litter-box trials. I put 5 new Whisker City litter pans side by side. Filled them all with various litters,
(all high end litters) I had tried every other litter before looking for a more cost efficient brand. They all failed miserably. They actually ended up costing me more to use.
I tested for; Dust, odor control, clumping, tracking, and the cats favorites. I also considered cost since I use so much litter between my own cats and my foster kittens.
Since I am not supposed to mention other brands I will tell you that my favorite used to be made of Wheat, they changed the formula and it no longer clumps like it use to. It is also dusty, tracks terribly and fairly expensive to use.
This litter is very low dust, if you scoop frequently, it does not smell ( by the way if you smell a lot ammonia it means your cat is not drinking enough water which is very serious, try one of the fountains to entice them)
The cats used this litter more, the clumps did not break up even with the number I have in the house at the moment. It is cost effective, most of the clay type litters turn to mud so the box needs to be changed and cleaned frequently.
It does track some but not as much as my previous favorite.
Pair this box with the metal scoop, and the Whisker City high back litter box and you will never dread scooping again.

no dust, solid clump, but tracks a lot

November 17, 2012

This litter has no dust and provides super strong clump. The downside is that it tracks pretty badly. My top entry litter box was able to keep most of the litter in the box or on the top lid with Maxx Scoop. The only thing that would stop the track for this particular litter is a super long carpeted hallway leading to the litter box.
Pros: eliminates odor, low dust
Cons: messy

i work for a breeder that has 28 cats, which means 8-10 litter boxes. i have to help clean them and i noticed the second she changed to dr elseys litter. i have now insisted that she only get it because there really isnt much dust and it has a way of getting rid of the smell, especially with so many cats.

Pooky has had the same diet and the same Tidy Cat Litter for 10+ years. This last year, Pooky began to develop bumps on her skin. I switched her food which she certainly didn't appreciate, I eliminated all air fresheners, got new bedding, new laundry detergent, cleaned everything...have you ever tried to give an old cat a bath? It's rough, man.
Anyway, after some research and finding reviews online, I picked up Dr. Elsey's. It's worth every penny! She loves it and I do too!

I have had 4 cats now for about 4 years and I have always used Fresh Step. A few months ago I started wheezing and coughing and had to be put on an inhaler. I do not have a history of asthma at all and started doing research because I started putting two and two together and realized that the new asthma symptoms might be from all the dust that gets stirred up each time I cleaned the litter box. I went to the store looking for a natural replacement and bought Feline Pine. I filled the cat boxes full and sat back and watched, all the cats came in, sniffed the Feline Pine and refused to even step foot in their litter boxes. Ok, back to square one, I did some research and ran across the reveiws for Dr. Elsey's scoopable cat litter. Everyone seemed to be raving about this cat litter, so my husband stopped by Petsmart and bought some. I still had one litter box filled with their old Fesh Step litter and was in the process of filling the other litter boxes with Dr. Elsey's when one of my cats came in and by passed the Fresh Step litter box and literally jumped in the litter box that I was in the process of filling with Dr. Elsey's litter. I had to stop filling it up because she totally loved this new litter and wanted to use it right away. As she was going in that box, I was busy filling up the next one, when all of the sudden in runs my male cat and did the exact same thing, by passed their old Fresh Step litter box and jumped right into the other box I was filling up. Safe to say the cats are in love with this new litter and they are super picky. As I was pouring the litter I noticed NO dust at all!! Yay for me and my poor cats, no more breathing in that nasty dust. Very impressed on the way the litter clumps. Over all, me and the cats give this litter an A+++. Love, love, love it!!!
