My 3 female fancy mice absolutely love Kaytee Fiesta, I assume for the variety of flavors and textures. The girls get Kaytee Forti-Diet as their primary in-the-dish-everyday food and the Fiesta mix as a treat. Each has her favorite element in the mix (Merlot = sunflower seeds, Bombay = pumpkin seeds, Frascatti = nuts) and all enjoy the corn, peas, tiny seeds and crackers. As some other reviewers have noted, the mix has a fairly high fat content and therefore is not appropriate as a 100% daily diet. The 3 mousie thumbs-up give Kaytee Fiesta 5 stars but mousie-mom has to take away one of the stars for the high fat content. Fed as a discretionary treat, this a yummy and economical product.
Pros: high quality, smell, taste, price

I currently feed my little ratties this. I have a one month old fnacy rat and a one month old dumbo rat. They love it and actually don't pick anything out. BUT I do pick out some of the corn and then give it to them. They aren't big fans of the corn to start with. The sunflower seeds are their favorite parts. I've started to mix in kaytee forti-diet pro health blocks also. They still aren't too sure on what to think about those. But over all, my ratties aren't too picky when it comes to this food. Peanuts usually go first, they hide the sunflower seeds, leave a few seeds for me to dump out and then eat the rest. I those little rascals eating the sunflower seeds in the middle of the night. So it seems to me, like this food is Mirah & Janis approved ! BUT it is not the only thing they will be eating. Fresh fruit and veggies everyday added to this is a big plus (:
This food is tasty;sure, but rats can also pick and choose their favourite things. It also contains high fat nuts. Please use a block type food like mazuri instead.
Pros: taste
Cons: low quality

I have 4 rats and they all have a their own favorites. This food is great for giving each of them a treat, as well as giving them all variety. I always feed them a few different brands, but this is the base of their food.
I mix this with a bag of yogurt drops, a bag of Extreme dried fruits, a bag of Reggie rat food, and Brown's Gourmet rat food. All of these brands contain a huge variety of foods for your rats, including pumpkin seeds, peanuts, real chunks of fruits and vegetables and the standard sunflower and corn. My rats absolutely go nuts on fresh feeding days.
My only complaint is that my local stores seem to be getting rid of their variety in rat foods, so I have to order online now to get all the things I normally buy.

When I first got my rats, I started them on this diet. After a trip to the vet, she recommended that we feed them the block/pellets. In this mix, they will most often pick through and eat the fatty foods instead of the blocks which give them the proper nutrition. I still give this to my ratties as a treat every now and again, but feed them a diet of the blocks and fresh fruits and veggies.

If you have picky pets they'll just pick what they want out and leave the rest! My mice loved it but unfortunately they ate all the fatty sunflower seeds first and gained a little too much weight! I changed their diet to regular rat and mouse blocks and this alleviated the problem. I still like to use this as treats, though, since it has a good assortment of tasties for them! (Dried fruit, various seeds, nuts, grains, and other things)
Also, it contained peanuts (in shells) which I didn't think mice were supposed to have so I had to pick those out just in case.
Pros: variety of different things, good for snacks
Cons: too fatty for main diet

My two mice really like this food. They pick it up out of there food bowl and hide it which I think is really cute. At first I was afraid they wouldn't eat it because the food they where eating at the pet store was a different kind but they really like this food. And it has a variety of different types of seeds and puffy things in it so even if they're picky eaters they'll find something in the mix that they like and they never get bored because there's so much different stuff. My mice like the puffy colorful things the best :)

First ingredient is CORN?!

I would expect a leading company in small animal food to research and know that rats are not suppose to have much, if any, corn, the first ingredient in Kaytee's rat food! Many article state this. Yet most pet shops carry rat food with way too much corn. Another food to only give your rat sparingly is peanuts, another prominent ingredient in this food. Although i'm sure many of the other ingredients are very benificial to a rat's health, i'm sorry to say i would not feed this food to my rats. It's a shame. After looking for a suitable food, i finally found Oxbow's Regal Rat, which first ingredient is whole brown rice, has no corn, is low in seeds, fat and protein, and fed along with fresh fruit and veggies, is everything perfect and balanced for our little friends. Please research everything you can in order to give your pets the best life they can have. They deserve it!
My rats love this food. They love the mixture of peanuts, dryed bananas, sunflower seeds, dryed carrots, dryed corn, and a bunch more flavor filled seeds and treats. I would never switch to another food. Your rats will love this stuff. FOR SURE!

I had the hardest time finding a rat food that my rats actually liked. I didn't want them on just the science blocks, I wanted them to have a variety of foods. Other foods had just a bunch of filler things, like birdseed and little else. This has some birdseed, but a variety of other tasty things like little crackers and such. My little guys love it when I refill their bowls, their big and fat now! My only suggestion is that you get something to contain the food well in, my guys tend to spread it on the ground everywhere while they dig for the good stuff. Great product, definitely a good buy!

My rat LOVED this food... His favorite part was the dried bananas in it. I have one warning though- don't feed your rats too much of this stuff- it's so good, my rat became obese!

Rats love this stuff

I cant see why any rat who isnt on a special diet wouldnt like this stuff, it might be a bit thin on those little blocks, but you can always mix it with some. They love this stuff, cant see buying any other brand unless they change the mixture for this stuff.
