I have tropical and lake fish in my aquarium and they love these tubifex cubes from San Francisco Bay Brand (they refuse other brands of tubifex).

SF Bay Brand tubifex always induces a feeding frenzy. They float, giving the Silver Dollars and Cichlids first opportunity. But as they chomped away, pieces float to mid-level where the Clown Loach, Leopard Bush, Leporinus, and other fishes eat heartily.
I'm not sure if this is an adequate staple diet, but I feed it daily, simply because every fish seems to prefer it to almost anything else.

The pellets generally are bad - they go to the bottom of the aquarium pretty fast and kind of disolve in the water making it cloudy and stinky... The only thing my fish will eat are dry worms. They are floating for a long time and even when they are not eatten, they do not make the water smell bad.
