Grannick's Bitter Apple Spray Does The Trick

My wife and I have a one year old Yorkie named Roxie. She is a great, very loving puppy but has a nasty habit of chewing our furniture; especially our leather sofa and recliner and coffee table and mantle (you get the idea). At our wits end, my wife and I decided to give Grannicks's Bitter Apple Spray a shot.
You know what? It works! Roxie took one taste test on the recliner and decided she would rather chew her Dingo treat or her Holee Roller ball. Also, for my wife's sake, Grannick's Bitter Apple Spray did not stain the furniture. Roxie spent the rest of the evening either playing with her toys or resting on my wife's lap.
I will admit I was skeptical after reading the reviews of other products but Grannick's Bitter Apple Spray changed my mind. Even though it was created almost 50 years ago the old truth rings clear: If it's not broken. Don't break it. Thanks for helping make our dog even better than before.

BETTER THAN THE REST BY FAR

I HAVE TRIED MANY DIFFERENT BRANDS ALL CLAIMING TO BE THE MOST EFFECTIVE CHEWING DETERRENT BUT NONE CAN TOUCH GRANNICK'S. SOME OF THE OTHER BRANDS I HAVE TRIED, MY PUPPIES HAVE LICKED OFF BEFORE IT EVEN HAD A CHANCE TO DRY AND WERE LOOKING FOR MORE!!
GRANNICK'S IS ALSO A MUCH BETTER BARGAIN THAN SOME OF THE OTHER BRANDS THAT I HAVE TRIED.
IT'S SUPERIOR IN ITS PRICE AND EFFECTIVENESS...WHAT MORE CAN ANYONE ASK FOR?! I AM NOW A LOYAL FAN OF GRANNICK'S BITTER APPLE SPRAY AND HIGHLY RECOMEND IT FOR ANY WHO WANTS THE MOST EFFECTIVE,BEST PRICED DETERRENT FOR THEIR PETS(IT ALSO IS GREAT FOR THUMB SUCKERS!!);WORKS FOR CATS TOO.
I WOULD RATE IT TEN STARS IF THE RATING WENT THAT HIGH;HONEST!

i cannot say enough good things about this product.
my new puppy was out of control. she was biting my hands and face playfully, but HARD and leaving bruises and scratches. i tried every method i could find online, but she just kept biting me ALL day long. the vet suggested we get this spray and give her one "no bite" warning, then spray it directly in her mouth. it took about 4 sprays and she now has mostly stopped biting. if she does still bite, i just have to say "no bite", and she stops immediately because she doesn't want to get sprayed.
i realize that some people say not to spray directly into the mouth, but since the vet suggested it we tried. it worked a complete miracle. i sprayed it in my own mouth out of curiosity and it is gross, but not going to do any permanent damage.
since then i've put it on shoes, couch cushions, wires, and various other things she tries to chew on and it works like a CHARM! best thing ive bought since i got her.
simply amazing.
Pros: price, easy to administer, works great

I have two dogs. One is an American akita (Bella) and the other is her 9 week old pup (Luke) mixed with a husky (huskita). Bella wasn't much of a chewer when we first got her but she eventually loved everything that had to do with sting or electrical cord. I bought this and she stayed away from it completely. 2.5 years later she had Luke and he is a little harder.. He likes to chew EVERYTHING. I sprayed this on everything he liked to chew on, especially the electrical cords, and he won't touch them now. You might have to spray it two or three times for them to get the point but it definitely works and I would recommend it to anyone with a chewer. I sprayed it on the bottom of the boxspring where he likes to chew and he was so upset he barked at me for 10 minutes! haha! He knows it tastes awful and he wouldn't dare to touch it again. This stuff is perfect.

I was VERY surprised that this spray works SO well. My dog has looked like the dog on the bottle for a while now. We've been trying everything to stop her skin from being itchy and to stop her from satisfying her itch by hurting herself. The cone she has been wearing is uncomfortable for her so we thought we'd give this spray a try. IT WORKS AMAZINGLY!! She's on her bed behind me without a cone, sleeping soundly. <3

This product is heaven in a bottle. All bad activitiy stops as soon as my dog sees the bottle come out. Anything that was previously sprayed, the dog walks right past as if he was never interested in it.

This product works well for keeping your dog from chewing on the legs of furniture. It also works well as a training tool. My only complaint is that you need to reapply every other day, it seems.

We have 2 cats that seem to like to chew cords. Someone told me about this spray so thought I would try it. It works wonders! They don't like the smell and they no longer chew the cords. They were chewing my oxygen tubing so I sprayed it and no more worries. I have already told others about it.

My son's 4 month old german shephard/belgian sheep dog was visiting with them for a week over the holidays. She is a pretty good size puppy with sharp teeth and is still chewing heavily. I used this spray for our sweat pant legs, our slippers (her favorite to chew while on our feet) and even the edges of some rugs she was chewing. I sprayed it and she would start to chew and walk away from it. I even sprayed some of he Christmas ornaments she was stealing from the tree. I was very impressed. I would definitely recommend.

MY PUPPY HAD A REALLY BAD HABIT OF CHEWING ON OUR COFFEE TABLES AND WALLS AND NOTHING SEEMED TO WORK. AN ASSOCIATE AT MY LOCAL PETSMART RECOMMENDED USING THIS PRODUCT. i BOUGHT IT AND SPRAYED IT ON EVERYTHING MY PUPPY LOVED TO CHEW ON AND IT WORKED! HE HASN'T CHEWED ON THOSE THINGS SINCE. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO ANYONE WHO HAD THE SAME ISSUE I DID.

So, they claim this product tastes horrible... However, both of my dogs (shih tzu and bichon frise) love the taste of it... It was such a waste of the $14 we spent on it... We spray it on them when they get their hot spots and start chewing, but they lick it off and beg for more... Horrible product and I don't recommend anyone to waste their money on it!

We had previously tried 2 other anti chew sprays to no avail. The first time my puppy chewed after this was sprayed, he made a disgusted face and ran away. He hates it so much we just have to pretend to spray this stuff on something and he won't chew it.

my daughter has a 1 yr old golden retriever and he started hair chewing on both his hind legs (same spot)..his skin looks great no sores no fleas(on flea preventative)so she got the bitter apple and has not returned to those spots. Tried chewing other spots, which was expected, sprayed, and has not chewed..bad habit to break but with the bitter apple it has helped!

My 11 wk old puppy loves to eat his wee-wee pads. I'm sure eating the cotton stuffing isn't healthy for any puppy. I tried a lot of things even shaking a jar full of coins when I catch him doing it to scare him but that didn't work.
I read that this product is very effective to deter puppies from biting about anything. So i gave it a try...sprayed the whole pad and let it dry overnight before using it. It worked! I came home and his pad was still in one piece. I knew he tried to eat it because there was a little piece torn but he probably got a bitter taste of it and stopped.

Like other users have said, it works.. if you douse what ever you want them not to chew in it. My GSD/English Mastiff mix loves chewing on the tassels on our rug, so hopefully he'll just learn not to, and I won't have to continuously spray it all the time. Pretty pricey for something that doesn't work.. at least not on my dog. :/

I bought this product based on the recommendation from a PetSmart employee, because my dog ripped his dewclaw. I was skeptical, but figured it can't hurt to try. I am so glad I went ahead with the purchase! Before using Grannick's Bitter Apple Spray my dog was constantly licking his bandage to the point where he would actually he eat it when no one was home to stop him. Since spraying some bitter apple on the bandage he has left the wound alone. Very please with the results!

I have an 8 week old Pomeranian pup and he chews on anything he can get his little teeth into. The worst though is feet. So we figured we'd spray it on our feet to deter the biting, and I'm not going to say it doesn't work at all but it's definitely not worth the buy for us. Your feet have to be wet with the stuff for it to work, once it starts to dry a bit, you have to spray more on. No one wants to walk around all day with soaked feet. It's most likely just the dog though, because I've heard others who've had it work just fine for them. So good luck!

I bought this after it was recommended to me by my Petsmart trainer. Much like another reviewer, I thought, "boy, if she thinks it works it HAS to be good!" I left the store excited to try it, as my puppy has a grand ol' time biting hands, and clothes when she is in one of her torrential play moods! What did my dog do??? She sniffed my hands, licked it all off, and then proceeded to bite/teeth on me. I will definitely be returning to Petsmart with hopes of a refund! I have heard it working on some dogs, but as I have asked more and more of my friends their results seem to mimic mine.

I bought this product to help prevent my 6 month old Dachshund from chewing on my baseboards in the "puppy room". It was recommended to me by a petsmart associate when I told him toys were not working. Brought the bottle home and did a test run on one of his toys. He almost immedicately spit the toy out because of the bad taste so I thought "Finally!". The first day I left him alone, he didn't seem to mess with the areas I sprayed. However after a few days he seems to either not mind the taste or just simply wants to chew on things no matter what gets in his way. It does have a strong alcohol odor (like rubbing alcohol) which bothers me because if you spray a lot it clouds the "puppy room" with the odor.
Pros: relatively cheap
Cons: odor, doesn't work all the time
