I have a Tibetan Terrier, a dog with two coats. They don't shed like many dogs, but they need to be brushed. Our dog can get mats from time to time, even though we brush him almost daily. I got this tool because it looked like it could do the job. I like the finger rest, but was disappointed with the performance for tight mats. I thought the serated metal would scissor through the mat, so it could be combed out, but I must really work the tool and pull. I don't think the blade edges are sharp enough to cut through mats (they appear to be styled to "saw" through mats with serated edges and a thinner edge, more like a knife) There is another style I use at Shampooch that work better. These are fine for loose mats. I'm still looking for a good de-matter tool.
