Snails love it,

"I break this into pieces and leave them around my snail tank. Also I crush some into my calcium bowl for them. Great product if you have snails! Very inexpensive, too."

Cheap way to add calcium to your aquarium,
January 21, 2009
by UCFgirl

Pros: inexpensive, safely adds calcium to water
"I bought this, took the metal off and placed it in my aquarium. It's a great source of calcium for snails which is necessary to keep their shells healthy. Every once in awhile I'll see on of my two apple snails (aka "Mystery Snails") crawling on it.
It's a cheap way to add calcium, has more calcium than crushed egg shells and doesn't change the pH of the water like marine calcium liquid concentrates. I hear its good for turtles and shrimp as well."

"My birds really like these cuttlebones. But the reason I gave it 4 stars is because the cuttlebones dont stay on the cage very well. When I checked on them a day after I got them they were on the bottom of the cage!"

Believe it or not works great for turtles,
February 26, 2007
by Chris136
from Denver, CO
|
"Believe it or not cuttle bone works great for turtles also. It provides them with a source of calcium. If you have a water turtle i would suggest putting the cuttle bone into the water, so it will purify the water with calcium."

The hook in the back will not hold.,
January 28, 2007
by skfjsofmdhd
from Toronto, Ont
|
"The cuttlebone itself it great - my 2 bugies use it all the time - but the little siver hook in the back is useless! To tie it on to the horizontal cage bars I use one of those bag-ties that you get from Bulk Barn."

"We bought 6 of the extra large cuttlebones from y'all and I have yet to find a cuttlebone that has a holder to keep it on the cage - We have a very large cage for several Cockatiels and the tiny brackets let the cuttlebone fall off and goes right under the cage where the waste goes! We have tried drilling holes in them and tying them on, but that does not work either...."
