i love these as well. they do last, and when they are dirty i just rinse them out in a bowl of aquarium water. i would get these rather than the ammonia ones. i have a bottle of dechlorinator and ammonia remover for that.

This part of an aquaclear filter can last you up to a year. It's cheap and its great for your fish if you replace filter parts.
