Not what I was looking for

I have 3 Rena XP filters on 2 tanks. In the 55 gallon are mollies. To be a fish, they are surprisingly dirty. In the 210 gallon, I have 2 full grown Oscars, 3 Bala sharks, 2 Tinfoil barbs, 2 full grown Plecostemus (15" each) & 2 Cory cats. Both tanks are a challenge to keep clean. PetsMart stopped carrying the filter media I really liked, the HBH poly material filter media that polishes the water. I ordered this product on line.
This morning, I opened a package to cut the size squares I need. I was able to get 2 squares of it. The 3rd will have to be in pieces. I'm going to use it, to try it, as it is heavier than the Marineland blue media.
I already know the water won't be crystal clear, as this media won't filter out the smaller particles that plague both my tanks. If it does less than that, I will be sending it back.
I'm also checking smaller, independant stores for the material I like.

What I like best about this material is that it does not load as fast as blue bonded filter material. The material is also tougher than blue bonded filter material - can be washed and reused without becoming useless. It filters medium to large particulate matter best, it does not polish water. If you have a filter that seems to load up too fast, try this filter material instead, it will take 2-4 times longer to load and clog up. The HBH Polyfiber Filter Pad is white and 1/2" thick, it is stiff and can sit vertically to about 8"x10" cut size, horizontally to any size. Cuts best with scissors.

This is a great product. I have two Eclipse tanks that use cartridges for the hood filters. I used up the Eclipse cartridges, then cut the blue pad off of the tray w/ a razor knife. Discard the used pad and charcoal, then rinse out the tray. Cut a piece of filter floss to the size of the cartridge. You can then dump your own charcoal into the tray and top the tray with the HBH filter floss. Give it all a rinse and it's ready to install. Now I change the floss twice a month, and the charcoal once a month. You can cut the floss pieces in half and change half at a time to preserve beneficial bacteria. With a little creativity, you can use this stuff for all of your filters. So much cheaper than buying new cartridges all the time, and makes things more customizable.
