"I have a 60 gallon tank, and could not easily fit a cannister filter in the stand. The other large hang-on the tank filters took up a lot of space on the backside of the tank. The AquaClear 70 exceeded all of my expectations. The water has been crystal clear for months, the filter is quiet, the flow rate can be adjusted, and different filter media combinations can be used."

"I purchased this item to clear up my 55 gallon tank that had hign nitrate levels and the water was so cloudy it look like fog. After installing this filter my levels went down and I had a clear tank that was crystal clear. I would recommend this item for all fish tanks. This product is excellent and works fast. It is well worth the money for an outstanding crystal clear tank."

"I had the 50 gallon filter. It was quiet and did a great job in cleaning the tank and the included biomax is great because it allows beneficial bacteria to grow in the filter. The 50 is silent with no water sound! I upgraded to the 70 and you can hear it. It's tolerable, but there is a humming and water sound. I've tried other filters, and this is the best. I love my 70 if I need to, will upgrade to the 110. The filtration box lets you put almost anything you want, like more carbon, ammonia chips, biomax etc. You can play around with it and make it your own. I have goldfish and they get the water dirty sometimes, so increase the flow rate when I need it."

"Got into the hobby about 5 months ago and was dealing with the dreaded cycle. I was using Tetra filters and Top Fin but neither would kick the ammonia and my water was always cloudy. I really believed I was doing something wrong and almost gave up the hobby as I was extremely tired of water changes. I decided to give it one more try and bought 2 of the AquaClear 50 Filters. In less then 2 days the water was clear, my ammonia reading dropped and was finally producing nitrites. I have a 70 Gallon tank with 36 fish and I never have any spikes in ammonia ever. I would've went with the AquaClear 70 but like having 2 filters on both sides of the tank. Tank is crystal clear, fish are extremely happy and definitely love the waterfall effect. You will not go wrong in buying these filters. Comes with 3 stages and you don't have to change the media all at the same time preserving the necessary bacteria that we all need to keep established. I highly recommend these filters for beginners to the very experienced. There is other media that you can exchange to suit your needs for filtration. Can't go wrong with these!!!!"

"I have a 30 gal. tank. I bought the tank and accessories from someone. The filter that came with it was for a 10 to 30 gal. tank. It wasn't strong enough. I got tired of looking at a cloudy tank with algae. I investigated on line for a new filter. I checked them all out (including the bio-wheel) and read all the reviews. I decided on the Aqua Clear 200/50 for 20 to 50 gal. tanks. After the initial 2 week period of breaking in a new filter, the tank is crystal clear. I actually like watching the fish now. The impeller in the filter is a little noisy but totally bearable. Changing of the filter inserts is a little clumsy but it's only once a month. For the overall outcome, it's worth it."

"I really like the Aqua Clear filters. You can put anything you want in them. They have a big media compartment that is like a canister filter. thay come with foam that is great for mechanical and biological filteration. No more spending money on filter cartridges!! Just rinse the foam and put it back in. You can change the water flow good too."

"I just got a fish aquarium kit and it came with this filter and it works great. I am a beginer when it comes to aquariums so yeah there was only one problem, that was my mistake I never knew you were suppose to put water in the filter until my friend told me. As I said beginer but the filter is great for people that are beginers or not i would recommend this product to everyone that is getting an aquarrium. :)"

"I have a 12g tank with 5 cichlids. I completed water changes each week and changed the blue/black filter cartridge every 2 weeks (with PENQUIN Bio Wheel). I still had alot of particulate matter in the water that showed greatly against my black back painted tank. I decided to try a filter switch and I'm SO excited I did. I have not changed my filter material in 4 weeks, nor I have had to complete any water changes - I've only had to add water slightly due to evaporation..what a difference. The water is crystal clear at night and I have received compliments from my neighbors something I did not get before. I will have to admit that the packing in of material into the media area is more time consuming than a quick in/out filter piece from Penguin..but the few extra minutes it takes to do it still far exceed the time it took for weekly water changes before. Due to ammonia levels with cichlids, I did buy the extra ammonia cartridge to pack in as well. I was kinda suprised at their recommendations - change the sponge Q2W - ammonia pack - I think Q2W - but I have waited a total of 4 for everything w/out any problems. You may want to see if you can extend your media changes as well to help with costs."

"I was strugelling with water quality in my 10 gallon fishtank (2 gold fish) for about 6 months. Regular water changes, tests, cleaning - nothing worked and the water was yellow and cloudy no matter what I did. Finally, I searched the web and found customers reviews about this filter. "I have had my aqua clear waterfall filter for 10+ years!! I have had other types of filter for other aquariums but they never last as long as my aqua clear in my 20gal tank. It has never had any problems and my tank is very clean!
I would say this is a highly recommended product. My only issue with it is that it does not have a bio wheel which are better, but then again the ones I have had with a bio wheel are more glitchy then this one.
If yours every plugs up or has trouble starting simply take it apart and clean it all out. The part on the bottom that connects to the power cable disconnects from the filter and you can clean it, there is a little motor in there and using a q-tip to clean it out has always helped me if the filter has trouble starting. It is great that aqua clear has designed them so that you can take them apart completely and get into their parts, because most filters I have had do not allow for this so if they die than you cant fix them."

"I was getting sick of that annoying sound my old filter made when I was trying to sleep at night!
So finally I went out and bought an Aqua Clear 10 gallon filter and I was AMAZED at how quiet and powerful it was! I was also very impressed that it has not only activated carbon inserts, but sponges, ammonia insert, and more!
It kept the water so clear and it was easy to clean. I actually went out and set up another tank and bought the 30 gallon Aqua Clear.
I highly recommend buying an Aqua Clear filtration system for your tank."

"The AquaClear filters are hands down the best brand of filters I have used. They actually have a large surface area for filtration - not one of those skinny 'do-all' pads - and their separate filtration parts allow you to customize the filtration that you need (whether it be zeolite to reduce ammonia in your goldfish tank or biomax for the growth of good bacteria in any tank, or heck, double up on the sponges if you have extra dirty fish like oscars!) I have had one of these filters for years without the pump wearing out. AquaClear is absolutely the best."

"I am an experienced aquarist, and this is by FAR the BEST filter I have ever owned! I have been through Emperors, Whipers, Marinelands, and Fluvals but this beats them all by FAR. I use this on a 75 gallon map turtle tank. My turtles are fed so many things ( Crickets , goldfish, Feeders, Mealworms, Waxworms, etc.) and this is the only filter that can handle the output of what my Turtles eat. Plus, cleaning is a Breeze! All you have to do is take out the Filter media basket, Take out the old flter media, put your new filter media in, put the filter basket back in, and then your'e set for 5 weeks! Also, this is the most SILENT filter I have ever owned I mean, you can barely hear the filtered water coming out in the waterfall!. In conclusion, I must say I am proud to own this filter, and would recommend it to anyone with any tank any Size! (Under 110 Gallons of course!)"
