"I purchased this for our little Cairn Terrier to wear out on our boat. He is still a puppy, and not really comfortable in the water yet. This vest is very easy to use, and he seems to be very comfortable in it. I love the handle on the top, it makes it very easy to lift him into the boat."

"I really wouldn't buy this product unless your dog is an active swimmer. I bought the lifejacket since we go to the beach with my dog at least once a year for a week. It works and the handle on top is very useful for small dogs, but it was a waste of money on my part since I don't use it too much."

"This product is very durable and well-made. It gives me peace of mind to know that even in the deepest water my pooch is safe. The only downside is that the durable material that the straps are made of rub on my dogs belly leaving a raw spot. But this was a quick fix by sticking a strip of moleskin to the bottom strap. Overall I would recommend this product to any pet parent looking to provide added protection to their water loving pup."

"I have an 11 month old pitbull who has a bit of trouble keeping his rearend up while swimming. I decided to buy him a life jacket and came across this one. We tried on the Large size in Petsmart and it fit and looked great, I then took him home and put him in the pool and he could swim! After swimming around i decided to take him out of the pull using the grab handle on the top of the vest, and as I pulled him out I heard the stitches on the handle being pulled apart. I am returning it because of the poor durability. My pit only was 55lbs and this vest is meant for up to a 70lb dog."

"If you have a large dog, do not buy this product. The first time I used this product I had my leash attached to the ring at the top of the life vest. Attempting to pull my furry friend towards me, the ring ripped right off of the floatation device, making the pooch free of any restraint. The leash ring, handle, and straps are only attached to the vinyl outer layer and not to each other or an under layer of the device. This is poor engineering and I would not recommend this for anyone, especially if you have a large dog."

"I've had these life jackets (one for my medium sized dog and one for my larger dog) for two swimming seasons so far and they have been great! We have a pool and my dogs love to swim! They are both good swimmers but when they are in there for a while they get tired and the life jackets are great at keeping them from getting frantic when they get tired. They have both learned to float around in the pool without kicking their legs with the jackets on. When we tell them "go get your jackets" they both run to get them in their mouths and bring them to the pool! This summer they both have rips in the fabic on the outside from us pulling on the handles on top, but they still work just fine. (It doesn't help that they both got a little chunky over the winter!). Jackets are fully adjustable and seem to be very comfortable for the dogs."

"I have two 68lb dogs who love the Ocean. They love to swim, ride the waves (yes ride the waves), and fetch their water sport toys in the Ocean. These jackets are the best. Very durable, high quality, easy and quick to safely put them on, without alot of tugging etc. Very fashionable and a eye catcher at the beach. I entrust my pets life with this product while we are in the water together. They also have a nice handle so that you can grab them in the water if you have to as well. Good job Outward Hound. I have also recommended this product to my friends when they visit us at the beach."

"i recently moved to an area with a lake and the first time my 65# lab harley went into the water she was a natural swimmer but slightly hesitant. i went out and bought this life jacket for her. now we don't boat or swim in choppy waters or anything like that but this lifejacket serves its purpose. the bright colors and reflective straps make her easily visible. the rescue handle is strong and makes it easy for us to lift her. the flotation of the jacket has given her more confidence to swim out further and get her beloved tennis ball and it holds all 65# of her up and lets her simply float when she's done swimming. i read in another review that the clasps broke easily. no problem on mine. they snap together snugly and we haven't had any problems. the velcro and adjustable straps made it really easy for us to get the perfect fit. so far i'm really happy with this product."

"I bought the older version for my older dog about a year ago so far, it has been 100 times better than the newer version. As soon as we strapped it on her and hooked her leash into it she started walking and it snapped. The older one has had no problems what so ever. I would recommend it but just be aware the thing the leash attaches to will break off. Other than that the price is good for it and it looks cute on her."

Buddy is all ready for a swim!
"My husband and I purchased the Outward Hound life vest for our Pomeranian, Buddy, and are very happy with it! We spend a lot of time at our camp on Lake Ontario and when we go swimming, Buddy has a tendancy to swim out to us. Since he's so little (and not the best swimmer) we wanted to make sure he would stay afloat until we reached him and his life vest is perfect! We definitely recommend!"

"My only problem with this life vest is that it chafes my dogs neck pretty badly.
When I take my dog to the beach, I'm not afraid she will be sucked under or swept away.
I know she is safe, keeps her head above water. I can also attach a LONG line (10ft+ leash) to the handle, so I don't have to attach it to her collar and choke her while she's swimming.
Overall, I would recommend this product."

"We replaced our old outward hound life jaket with this new design. The life vest lasted for one hour before the handle completely ripped off and the velcrow underneath came apart as well. This product is no longer made well and we are really disappointed in the new design and quality. Do not buy this life vest."

"I bought this lifejacket for my boston terrier when we took him to the lake with us. Within 5 minutes of being near the water, he fell off the dock. The handle on the back of the lifejacket made it so easy to reach in and pick him up out of the water. It also makes a wonderful carrying handle for him when I'm moving from dock to boat. I'll use it every time I have him or any other dog at the lake! Highly recommend!"

"I was very pleased with this product. It seems to be constructed from durable material and it definitely provided the floation that my dog needed. My dog is kind of long, so the fit was off just a little bit, but nothing major. My dog apparently doesn't really care for water activities, so I'm not sure when we'll use our lifejack again, but it's good to know we have it should we attempt another water activity with her."

"I have a German Shepard/Collie and possibly Chow mix. My parents own a boat and my dog loves the water. She likes to try and jump out of the boat, while it's moving. Sometimes when we stop to swim in the water or let her (my dog) jump in to cool off and alot of times the water is wavy. I purchased this life jacket and I am completely confident that she's safe when in the water as well as when she's on the boat. Dogs need to be safe too, when in the boat and in the water and this surely does the job. I recommend this product."

"What sets this life jacket apart from others is that it wraps under the dog's belly, velcros, and snaps. That's important when you're picking the dog up out of the water with the handle - or in my case, trying to keep him from jumping out of the dinghy on the way to the islands. It's the best life jacket I've found. Our dog wears it every weekend. I'd also recommend a reflective collar for anyone who takes their dog on the boat at night."

"Bought this for our Wire Fox Terrier. Great, fits snug, he doesn't mind wearing it. He jumped out of boat into lake and was able to float around. It really works and does secure around dog better than other life jackets we have seen. I would definitely recommend. Great purchase and great price."
