I had 2 of these & used them for cat & dog food. I had them stacked and never had a problem with them collapsing or falling but only put maybe a 15lb.bag in them at a time. My problem was that I kept them in the garage and during the summer had problem with bugs/moths getting in there. I had to throw out the food and stop using them. We use them now to store salt for the winter. Wouldn't recommend them for food unless you don't care if your dog/cat eats moths and bugs

I used this to store bird food in. Have small and medium sized bins, I believe. I bought them 2nd hand, so I am approximating the size due to the amount I could fit in each.
I could fit a 20 lb bag of bird food (pellets -- like small sized dog or cat food) in the small bin; 25 lb bag was a tight fit. This was in the stackable position. I fit a 50 lb bag in the medium bin in the stackable position. I did not store seed in there, but I am sure it would have fit as well. I did not have problems scooping the feed out. There may be problems with spillage if you fill it too full.
I had no problems stacking a small on a medium, of course. In my opinion they are built sturdily and also have a loop where a lock can be used to keep unwanted "things" out. However, I suggest these be used inside only because they are not airtight and may be subject to bug intrusion if outside.
Mine were kept inside and the only problem I had was with moths because the containers were not airtight. I also detest the grid design on the inside of the doors but that is my thing because the moths get in the corners and build cocoons. I have since switched to airtight containers for my bird food, but these would be great for other animal foods that do not cause "moth" problems that bird foods do!
Pros: durable, easy to clean

I bought 2 to keep food separate for a Pug and a Chihuahua - worked perfectly! Stacked nice and I kept them 3/4 full most times without problems. Would recommend to friends!

I owned 3 of these (1 large, 2 small) for at least 15 years or more and they stacked wonderfully - even full. I recently purchased 2 of the large ones as a replacement. I had 3 full bins stacked for 1 week before the bottom one caved in and dumped the top two. I won't buy them ever again.

It was ok for about 8 months. could not hold weight of a 40 pound bag on top of it. It cracked, flies got in it and then maggots before I realized it. Would not have this product again.

Great for Horse Feed - Eliminates Barrels

I'm of the old school who put feed bags in metal trash cans with lids. This can be a logistics nightmare with each owner having three, four and more trash cans in a limited space. Using these stackable bins, I have consolidated what took an entire 12x12 room, into one small corner. It also looks much nicer and more professional as well as being lockable so boarders feed is secure and no more complaints of "someone using my feed/suppliments!" I use the large bins, stacked four high, with beet pulp and the heaviest feeds on the bottom, rice bran and light feeds in the center and small containers of suppliments and oils in the top bin. This makes them very stable and sturdy. You can also put a months worth of SmartPacs in one so can conceiveably have a barn of 20 horse's suppliments in a 4 high, 5 long row! They are rodent resistant, insect proof, keep the feed dry and keep mold from forming. I swear by them - this is a fantastic solution for horse grain & suppliment storage. You can even keep a med size one on top for small grooming supplies and tack for turnouts like polos and splintboots - then clients tack boxes stay secure but you still have access to needed equipment!

I've had one of these bins for about 10 years, and even though the plastic feels thin, it holds up very well. I just bough 3 more, and plan to replace all my pet food bins with these. It won't prevent a determined dog from getting into it, but I've never had that problem, and there is a place to put a latch. As for filling the bin, I stand the bin on its back, with the door pointed at the ceiling, then pour the food in, and then set it upright. I've never had a problem with the food spilling out. I highly recommend this item.

I got this for my dog's food. I got tired of having to hide the bags because she'd get into them. Because I was only using the 1, and therefore wasn't going to stack anything ontop of it, I actually set in on its back, with the top facing me (what would normally be the front now points up at the ceiling). This put the door at a much nicer angle for it to be sitting on the floor. And allowed me to fit more food into it without it falling out. So I was, in fact, able to fit about 30 pounds of food with room to spare (got the medium size).

I bought two of these and they are definitely worth the money. They are a little on the flimsy side so it's important to keep the one that will be the fullest on the bottom or they will fall over. Also, because they are designed with the door panel in front, they hold about 15 to 20 lbs less than stated in the specs.

The product is easy to fill and can be stored away nicely. I reccomend getting a larger size than the pound bag of food you use. This will pretvent the food from rolling out. I was hoping the door and door hinges would have been a bit sturdier and made with stronger plastic. The door is a bit floppy, but works fine. Overall, the product is good and makes storing/feeding easier.

I purchased the small which fits nicely in my kitchen cabinets. The only issues i've had are it's a little hard to fill up and I tend to end up spilling food on the floor. I've tried to tip it up slightly but it ends up slipping and falling on it's back. My dog also figured out where this was stored and was able to pull it out from the cabinets and pull the plastic door off. I now store it in the garage.

The storage at first was great. No open bags around. It was very easy to open and feed my 2 large dogs.
Than one day I opened it and ants were all over the inside of the container. I couldn't beleive it. I had to throw out all the food and just tossed the container and am going to buy a similar one that is airtight. It have been a good price but I had to toss a full bag of food. In the end not worth it.

I have 5 dogs, and i hated seeing 4 different bags on the floor, so i bought these and they are so much nicer to deal with and "look at" I love them, they are also a great space saver. I also love how you can put a lock on them. I have a 3 mo. old boxer and he taught himself how to open them and just helped himself, so the locking part helps alot. thank you.

I bought three of these and stacked them in my mud room.
This is a great way to organize my pet food, one for cat food, one for puppy food and one for large breed dog food. This is much better than having all those big bags laying around.

I volunteer at a animal shelter and bought the medium and large containers for the shelter. I used some of them to store toys and collars and they work perfect for that. I have 3 of the large ones stacked together and haven't had any issues with them. I used 2 of the large ones for food and so far they have worked out perfect. The product does state not to stack more than 2 so for the ones with heavy food in them I would only stack 2 together. I wouldn't use these outside though since the seal is not airtight and bugs could get into them. The shelter been using 4 of the small ones for treats and they have lasted longer than any of the other plastic bins we have used. We go though food quickly so the problem of food staying in them too long is not an issue for us.

I've had two 40lb bins for a few years, and love them. I have them stacked with the top one with treats and the dogs stuff I use to walk them. The bottom one has 50lbs of dog food. I've had no problem with them felling over. You have to tip the bin back to fill it and shake it, then tip it back over slowly. I'm going to get the 100lb one soon for two bags of dog food and use one of the 40lb bins for cat food. I hope this helps someone.

I work at a kennel in Charleston,SC and this bins are absolutely wonderful for food storage. They are very sturdy and dependable. I've never once had a problem with the dogs being able to open the bins and have had no worries about insects getting inside. I would definately recommend these bins to anyone with a dog. I will definately be getting one of my own for my Boston Terrier puppy. And,to prevent food spillage, the best thing to do is turn the container on it's back to pour in the food and then turn it back up and give a little shake.

I do like this product for dog food storage but I do not recommend stacking them because the plastic is not that strong, but if you are buying just one then you'll have no problem with it breaking.

i have 2 of these containers 1 for the cats and 1 for the dogs. I love it as it keeps the odors and food in the container.
I have read the other reviews about how difficult it is to get the food in it. My trick is to turn the container on its top then pour the food in. Close the door and turn right side up again open door and put the scoop in. Works every time and no food is spilled or left over in the bag.
