Good Product

Have several very large dogs. I got tired of water sloshing over the water bowl. I mounted this outside, no more mess inside. (except when it rains then I put a bowl inside)
Lasts for several years with minimal care. Have to wash out reservoir every few weeks or it can get green. You would never know though unless you look. I use a bleach/water solution and rinse.

My labs use this all the time! It is so funny to see their faces when their bowl "magicly" refills! The only con is that you HAVE to have a hose where you keep your dogs so that you can hook it up to the bowl! NEVER overflows, ever! :D

GREAT OUTDOOR BOWL

Marlowe has had this water bowl for the past eight years! It is hooked up to the spigot on the north side of the house, so it's out of any sunlight especially on a hot day. Our state requires that unless dogs have adequate water and shelter, they cannot be left out for more than two hours. With a doggie door, this bowl fits the bill. It's on a cinder block for easy access by the dog and there has never been a problem with leaking; just remember to take it in when the weather gets cold, you don't want the water to freeze. It would be better if it was stainless, thus the four stars.

This is a great idea and my dogs love it. Except it leaks really bad right at the plastic connector for the hose.
We have tried 2 different bowls, 3 hoses, Teflon tape and silicone. Just keeps on leaking. Has anyone else had this problem? If yes, how did you fix it?
Petsmart has offered to replace it free of charge which is fantastic, I just hope the next one doesn't leak.
Pros: convenient
Cons: leaks

Right out of the box, I read the label "bowl will not over-fill". So I turn the hose on low and watch the bowl over-fill. Come to find out the float design is horrible. Not only that, after getting the float stopper to plug the hole, there are 3 other leaks coming from the backing plate, which means it will never shut off. Waited weeks for this to arrive, only to have to turn around and return it. Terrible buy - highly NOT RECOMMENDED!
Pros: great idea if it worked
Cons: cheap plastic terrible design

We have had this watering bowl for almost 8 years now and it finally broke this morning - the hose fitting broke, probably our crazy dogs fault. We had 4 large (70-100 lbs) dogs up until this month that used the bowl daily for those 8 years. We are now down to three of them and I need to run to PetSmart to buy a replacement. The only issue we had was that since we had it outside, we had to make sure that it was kept level - otherwise the valve would keep running. We screwed it to a standard square yard paver and that worked well. Overall, even considering the slightly high price, it's a good value at $2.50/year. I would recommend it.
Pros: lasts a long long time, durable - even outside
Cons: understandably you must keep it fairly level

Despite it's dainty appearance, this water dispenser works WELL. It does not overflow - often. I've had it for ~3 yrs and only now has it shown problems with leaking. And even then it's still usable as a normal water recipient for your dog.
5 stars for performance - 1 star for price & easily breakable pump = 4 stars.
Some tips:
-Screw the top on. It will prevent damage to the floaty mechanism.
-Screw it down to the floor. Otherwise, it will never stop leaking if it gets flipped over, you'll come home from work to find your house flooded, or something.
Pros: lasts. long.
Cons: very delicate pumpy thing.

We have this bowl installed in our house and it's been working great for more than 2 1/2 years. It was pretty easy to run a dedicated water line to this unit from the basement to the first floor hallway. A shut-off valve close to the dish makes it convenient to turn off the water and a quick connect adapter found in most any garden supply makes it a snap to remove the dish for cleaning.
This has worked so well that we are seriously considering putting at least one more on each floor of the house as well as the basement.
No matter how you choose to hook up the dish, I would consider a quick connector essential as the threads on the dish are made of plastic and probably wouldn't last as long with repeatedly hooking/unhooking up a garden hose.

Dont buy it is a very poorly designed product made with the lowest of quality standards. It is very difficult to attach to a hose since it does not have a rotating adaptor you have to remove it from the wall so you can spin the whole bowl. Then when you get it attached it leaks everywhere and if you tighten it to much the float and everything falls apart. I tried different gaskets, teflon tape, and 3 different hoses and it still leaks just poor quality threads.

I have had one for my two pets for at least 5 years and because of the corrosive water we have I will be ordering another one to replace the present watering bowl. I had no problem putting a garden hose to the bowl, I put a short piece of hose threaded into the bowl connection and a quick coupling connection on the other so for any reason I could move the bowl without any hassle. I bring itinto my shop each winter to keep it from freezing and put out a bowl until spring. With proper care you can't go wrong with the bowl.

Don't buy this product. You can't attach it to a hose.
Unfortunately, the connector on the watering bowl is a threaded male plastic pipe, unlike your typical hose-end sprinkler, which has a female receptacle for the male (threaded) end of the hose. I had a scrap of extra hose around, so I made a hose with two male ends using a hose-end male repair kit I happened to have on hand.
But wait, there's another problem! The threads on the watering bowl attachment fitting DON'T FIT a hose. I'm not sure what the manufacturer intended with the instructions, "Connect garden hose and tighten," but it doesn't work.
Don't buy this product until they fix the connector. It should be a female fitting like that on a hose-end sprinkler.

Still Working Strong After 5 Years

July 16, 2007

I have 3 large (70lb) dogs that need plenty of fresh water at our Miami Florida home. This simple but sturdy bowl is built with longevity in mind. I ran simple PVC pipe from my house water avoiding the hose... Nobody likes the taste of hose water. The plastic bowl is lightly screwed into the dogs concrete patio area. Thanks Blitz Auto-Wata for a great product! I am buying another for my NC home. I would give it 10 Stars if I could. Chris
