Harness has extended my dogs life,
October 6, 2009
by LoriB
from Frisco, TX
"My 15 yr old Dalmatian has been wearing this harness for several months now. When I've had to help her up without it and lift under her with my arms, she whines. But with the harness, she has no complaints. If she's having trouble getting up or over a step, it makes getting up much easier and more comfortable. She will actually turn and look at me and wait for me to grab the handle to help her over a step or a door threshold. It's very useful when she has to eliminate as I can hold the handle if she starts to sink down to the ground on her weak back legs. It makes things much easier on my back too. Without the harness, I'm certain we would have felt euthanizing her was our only option by now. This truly is a life saver. We've used it in the past for temporary injuries and that was very effective too. The harness is very durable and shows no signs of coming apart despite constant use and many washings. I have made an adjustment with the straps that go around the shoulder from the chest. I criss cross the straps on her back as the straps fall down her front legs a bit. I think some improvement could be made to that part of the design with some elastic. And some padding on the chest area seems like it would help with comfort. Even though I think the comfort and fit could be improved some, I don't see any sign of rubbing or irritation on my dogs skin. Otherwise I would make alterations on my own. I'm actually going to buy a second harness now so that I have one for her to wear while I wash the other."

These were a Godsend,

"I had at least 2 of these in rotation on my Bernese Mt. Dogs when they started to have trouble getting up. I would leave one on them all the time and trade off washing the dirty one...maybe once a week. You must fit it properly, i.e. have the body sling part probably more across their belly than their chest. You have try to find the dog's center of gravity..once you get it..it's done. It's like having luggage handles on your dog and my dogs got used to it very quickly and worked with me when I helped them, once they realized what it did for them. It helped them rise from a prone position, helped them up and down the stairs and also helped them into the car. Even helped them keep their balance when urinating so they did fall into a sit and mess themselves. I would say I was able to keep my dogs with me a good year longer than I would have because of this wonderful harness. I didn't have to make that dreadful final decision for them until they were actually too weak to stand. And by that time, they were ready...they wouldn't eat and had a poor quality of life. Invaluable for helping and handling a larger dog. Thank you for a wonderful product!"

Difficult design,
August 11, 2008
by LittleCrabby
from St. Petersburg, Fl
"I found the harness difficult to work with because of all the adjustments that had to be made with the straps. Unfortunately at 13 my pet has an agression problem along with arthritis. He has to be muzzled in order to put the harness on. This may work better for those who have pets that you can do anything to without worring about agression. I had difficulty adjusting the front straps in order for the harness to fit properly. As another user stated the material is not soft to the touch and can rub and irritate the skin. The price fits the quality. After using it, and seeing what else is on the market, I headed to the fabric store and designed my own. It works soooo much better!"

Lift-n-Aid Harness,
November 23, 2006
by Texanne
from just north of Houston
"I purchased this for my 12 yr. old Irish Setter. Although it fit his 110 lb frame well enough, it doesn't have any padding whatsoever, making it quite uncomfortable for him when he's having alot of difficultly getting up & I'm the one doing most, if not all, of the lifting. Just seems like it would have been a much better product w/some good padding, like what they put on the straps of your better backpacks."

Helpful Harness,
September 29, 2006
by Noonie

"This really helps when lifting the big guys! My big boy is up in age and he sometimes gets a little stiff in the rear legs. This helps get him on his feet faster without as much muscle use, causing pain.
It also helps with my back as it takes the weight off of the dog and allows you to lift him without bending."
