I have used everything for my guinea pigs and hamster: aspen, carefresh and other like brands, even fleece blankets. This is by far the best! Covers odor the best and is much cheaper than carefresh. The only con is it's pretty messy. I had to move their cage to the hall with wood floors because when they were on carpet it was a pain to vaccuum up.

Great odor control

I use this product more as litter than bedding as I've never found my hamster likes it for sleeping on. I put the granules in the corner where my hamster goes to the bathroom and it works extremely well for odor control. I really like this product - it works much better than the recycled newspaper granules.

I bought this bedding for a 7 week old bunny we'd just adopted. She loves it! She uses her litter box religiously for #1. This bedding really does control odor, I never smell anything other than hay from her cage. It is very absorbant, I keep a small pile of it in the cage pan just under the water bottle to soak up any dripping. And my bunny loves nest with the stuff (if she's not enjoying her grass mat). This was the first bedding we bought, and I don't think I will try anything else.

My 3 female fancy mice do not like too deep a layer of bedding in their double-level habitat so I only use about 1" per change. Kaytee Soft-Sorbent Bedding is very absorbent, dust-free, dye-free and unscented. I also add a few handfuls of Kaytee Soft Granule Blend with Lavender to give the habitat a pleasant, light scent. Even with 3 mice, the bedding does its job very effectively, continuing to absorb urine and odors even if I don't do a full bedding change each week. Excellent product and the big bag goes a long way so it's economical, too.
Pros: eliminates odor, low dust, easy to clean

We currently have two inside bunnies in our home who can't live without Kaytee's granule pet bedding. I have used about ten different bedding products in the last 12+ years and none of the other types compare. The main concern for my family is a clean and fresh smelling house with pets living indoors. This product meets these standards. I would appreciate if it were sold in a bigger package is my only suggestion.
Pros: easy to clean, eliminates odor, low dust

Within 1.5 weeks I tried the following beddings in my rabbits litter box... Aspen wood shavings, stove pelits (ment for horse stalls), corn cob bedding and this Kaytee Soft Granule Blend. This is by far the best out of them all!!!!! There is NO smell with this. It scoops out of my rabbits liter box with ease using a cat litter scoop. When an animal pees on this, the bedding swells. This is PERFECT!!!! The only complaint that I have with this is that when my rabbit jumps out of her litter box this stuff comes out of the cage a little bit. The good thing about this is that it is easy to sweep up even on carpet. My rabbit really likes to lay on this stuff. She has no complaints. I will be buying this again. (might get either the lavender or mint sent next).

Perfect For All Small Animals

I was on a mission to find the perfect bedding for my rats. I had tried everything--aspen, carefresh, newspaper, puppy pads, fleece, corn cob bedding, paper pellets, alfalfa pellets, and more. So I went and I got this bedding to test it out. My rats were sneezing a little bit when they first went into the new cage and then they stopped (It was just because of switching bedding). They were digging in it and instead of using their nesting material, they pushed in some of this and slept on it. It doesn't stick to the bottom so it's easy to clean. You just dump the bedding out into the garbage. It has low or no dust. One of my girls had a respiratory infection and now she doesn't! Hairless rat's need the perfect bedding because they are even more prone to sickness. And my hairless, Yuki loves it too! My only complaint is that it doesn't eliminate odor any better than other beddings.

It's not horrible, but it is not amazing. I don't really recommend it. I used to for my Teddy Bear Hamster and she started itching - a lot. The dust isn't very noticeable until you empty the bedding out. It shows a fair amount of dust all over the plastic tub. Overall, she does enjoy digging around in it, but I really don't recommend it.
Cons: Doesn't Eliminate Odor, messy

I bought this product for my guinea pigs. It absorbs the urine really well (better than the pine)and I think that is a good product in general. However I had two issues...
1. Three times I bought the large bags and I found stones in them. It was hard to see them because they were partially cover with the bedding material. I got a refund.
2. It is dusty. One time some of the bedding got into one of my guineas' ear and I had to clean the ear and put ear drops in it. It makes the guineas scracth a little more than usual.
3. Buy the small granules for small pets.

Overall I liked this product. I have two dwarf hamsters and they love to roll around and dig in it. It absorbs odors well and as long as the cage is cleaned weekly, however, I have made it two weeks, I did not smell anything. Yes it is messy, but most small animals are :)

It is amazing and locks in all of the smell. It is very soft and comfy for guinea pigs. My guinea piga Oreo and Buttercup love it, and always get excited when I clean out there cage, because they get fresh bedding, and a new place to sleep.

I think this is good bedding! My guinea pig seems to like it much more then the fleece I had... The only thing,is that she sneezes sometimes. It started long after I got the bedding so it could be something else.

i think this bedding is gret.it keeps smell down and it lookis really nice and neat in the cage.i use this bedding for 6 hamster a gerbil and 2 ferrets and they all love it to.this is by far the best bedding on the market. i used to use carefresh but i found it really smelly and dusty switched to this and now im in love ill never use another brand of bedding.helpful hint : if your small pet doesnt think its soft enough try mixing in a little aspen bedding with it.

i like this, but my hamsters dont... so i keep using pine. This stuff came with a starter kit i got awhile ago, so i used it to try it. My hamsters feet got dusty and hard, and she wasnt comfortable, i could tell by the way she acted. She ended up sleeping on her plastic perch only 2 days after i started using it. When i saw how upset she was, i quickly switched back to the soft natural pine bedding. She began sleeping back in the bedding and seemed more at ease in her cage. HOWEVER, with my dwarf hamster i divided the cage, one side with pine, the other with this stuff, and she brought some of this pebble stuff back over to her nest in the pine. Every hamster is different ;)

GREAT product for a dwarf hamster, sicne they are more prone to things because of their size. i would buy scent free so the hamster can use the best of it sense of smell, which i read they rely mostly on, not sight as i thought. it doesnt have alot of dust in. i tend to buy another bag before it gets to the bottom where the dust tends to be. my hamster loves to dig and burrow in it, maybe because of the small size of pellets. she likes to put it in her pouch and use it to fix her nesting area to her liking. it is very absorbent. i remove wet bedding twice a week. i would NOT recommend wood shavings for ANY hamster because wood shavings tend carry dust and wood particles that can be harmful for the respitory system, worst for a dwarf hamster. wood shavings can also get caught in the cheek pouches and scratch them and even get stuck in hair and feet, the main reason why i use this product. i buy the big bag because i seem to save more money that way. the only time i would consider this bedding messy is when i am cleaning the cage and filling it back up with new bedding. but i can vaccum that right up.
