It took my cockatiel and lovebird a week or two to get used to this toy, but once they started chewing the pouch, they couldn't stop. I didn't realize that I was supposed to remove the rubber band from the popsicle sticks, but eventually the birds destroyed the sticks anyway. The toy is a bit messy, but the birds love it.

Our cockatiel got this toy as a Christmas present last year. She ignored it all year except for pulling the occational shred out of it. This year we were given another one and desided to let our mini macaw have it. After we showed our mini the sticks and how to chew it she has now started playing with it, our cockatiel, after seeing the praise our macaw got has started really playing with hers too.
This has been great to get our uninterested macaw interested in chewing.

for smaller birds

I loved the look of this product. It's colorful and I thought it would be great fun for my conure. I left the rubber band that binds the sticks at the bottom on it and he wasn't able to get any out. I took it off and he shred some but then when there were about 6 left, dumped them all out at once. I retrieved them and he did it again. This is a toy that's colorful and can be fun but probably best suited for smaller birds, like a parakeet. Maybe if the rubber band were looser so the bird could get the sticks but couldn't dump them all out. Also, I didn't like that it attached to the cage with a twist tie. My bird was out and on top of his cage and climbed to the side and started chewing on the wire! A bird safe fastener (non metal and non sharp) would be better. I would love one with the improvements that I mentioned and with thicker wood, for bigger birds.

This toy is very affordable. I bought it for my two budgies. They adore it. They chew on it everyday. This toy is very simple but it keeps them going for a while. I put this in my budgies cage a couple weeks ago, and though i know budgies aren't as destructive as say other birds they still have yet to destroy it. I plan on getting a second for my cockatiels. This is toy is well worth the couple bucks.

My Nanday Conure, Charlie, has the nearly unsatiable desire to CHEW. I got this toy, hoping he would love it. While scared of it for many days, I rather wilted. But, on an impulse, I pulled out a stick and offered it to him. He took it from me with a relish, held it in his little foot, and shredded the thing in, I swear, ten seconds flat. When he went back into the cage, I showed him the toy and handed him another stick. Turning out his lights, guess the scene that greeted me in the morning?
Charlie had taken each stick, in turn, shredded it, then threw the last piece remaining in his foot out of the cage with great liberty. I think he enjoyed this emmensly. I haven't had the chance to buy another one yet, but he still roosts on the pink holder, now shredded to his liking, at night.
It was a great value, even better for the enjoyment my big guy got out of it. Recommended by me! ;)
