I used to use a gravel based littler before I tried this. My cage is big and took 6 boxes of the other litter just for one cage clean. I was spending close to $15 dollars every other week. now 1 bag of this will last 3 cage cleanings. Also there's no Dust and it's super easy to clean.
Pros: eliminates odor, low dust, easy to clean

My sun conure (sunny) uses this stuff in his cage for his poopies. And, it doesnt smell, its easy to clean. Doesnt cling to the crate tray that i have to pull out and just dump outside in compost pile and its very easy. His poopies form together easily for removal or disposal outside. It keeps for a good while and is very affordable and always available at petsmart. I absolutly love this product. And, i will be recommending it to many of my friends that have birds or plan on adopting a bird in the future.

This may sound weird, but this works great for cleaning ammo brass. It is small enough to get into the primer pockets and polishes well too. Very good price compared to gun store crushed walnut. Will continue to buy!!!
Pros: cheap but great quality
Cons: none found

My sun conure ludwig lives in a 71x41x41inch cage and the problem with the other bird litters is that there is not enough of it and it does not clump as well. I bought Kaytee Walnut bird litter the other day and ludwigs droppings are clupming better so it is easier to scoop up. I just love this stuff!

A friend gave us a pair of Cockatiels about 3 years ago. They had been a commercial breeding pair. We now only let them breed about once a year.
One of the issues of breeding is having a way to keep the breeder box and cage clean. There are a number of choices. Corncob, shredded paper, clay and other cat litter types. Being first time breeders, we wanted it right. What we discovered is that baby birds will try to eat anything. One of our fledglings got sick. We took her to the Vet and by the grace of God; our Vet was able to save the bird. What made her sick was a piece of the paper litter we used. I asked the Vet how to prevent this and she said either use larger litter that was too big for the fledgling to swallow or one that was small enough to pass. We discovered that this very finely ground litter was small enough to pass if the babies eat it and that it clumps and was easy to scoop. You can scoop not only droppings but also any other materiel that is larger than the litter. In my opinion, Kaytee All Natural Walnut litter for Birds is the best litter to use for all birds and it’s perfect for play gyms or floor stands as well.
