Cons: disgusting odor
"After reading reviews on this site and others, I decided I'd try this product and hope the smell wasn't such a big deal (as some reviewers had suggested).
If you're thinking along those same lines, I strongly advise you don't waste your money. "Citrus skunk" is the only way I can describe the smell, and it is strong enough that you'll be able to smell it faintly from across the house and VERY strongly in whatever room it's in. I tried letting it air out for a week, as some had suggested, and it doesn't seem any less strong.
I had intended to use this on my laptop cord, but never found out whether it worked as I couldn't be in the same room with the cord protector for more than a minute before my head and throat would start to hurt."

First lettuce then electrical cords!
Pros: electrical cords saved, easy to use and look great. Cons: odor can make humans extremely ill.
"We have a house bunny that finds cords to be the best dessert ever! I was excited when the item arrived = but found we immediately had a different problem.
My husband, who cannot smell a dirty catbox, is highly sensitive to the odor. In fact the odor made him physically ill with headache and nausea within minutes. Because he could smell it anywhere in the house, I aired the protector outside for 3 weeks before using it. It has now been in a large airy room for 3 months; but he still gets sick when within a few feet.
I was able to smell the odor when it arrived (it was quite overpowering after 2 weeks in a shipping box), but not now - and I'm the one who can smell the "neighbor's catbox"!
Now as for Timmy the bunny. He finds the flavor 'interesting'. The smell doesn't concern him at all, but he does take one or two samplings before he doesn't want any more. So, the cords aren't being eaten, but the protectors have nibbles all up and down them!
Okay, so here's the good and bad. The protector is saving cords but making my husband sick! So you tell me, do the cords work?!"

Perfect but for the smell!,

"The main goal of the things is to prevent pets from risking electrical shock or choking by playing with cords. The Cord Protectors are easy to use, pre-slit, easy to cut, and transparent. The thick plastic barrier reduces the cords' flexibility as a toy and holds off any chewing that might be attempted. My only complaint is that the citrus scent doesn't do much to put off the cats' curiosity, and the whole house reeks of it."

Lifesaver!,

"I love this product! It has saved my cat's life. I had tried everything you could spray on a cord and she still loved to chew on wires. I have cord protector on every cord in my house. Not a huge fan of the smell, wish they had an unscented version, but it fades after a few days and can only be detected close up. Now I can sleep easy knowing that my kitty is safe. LOVE IT!!!!"
