This is the only brand of pellets I feed to my 3 piggie girls. They love it and eat it readily. It is a very good food and formulation and keeps them healthy. I also feed this brand ferret pellets to my ferret. I am a vet tech and I know vets like this brand. It only costs a little bit more and it is worth it.
Pros: high quality, taste

Best Guinea Pig Food

I tried other foods, such as Kaytee's Fiesta, before finally trying this. This is the only food my guinea pigs will eat. I liked that it is timothy hay based and organic. Guinea pigs benefit from feeding on fresh grass hay, such as timothy hay, in addition to food pellets which are often based from timothy. Alfalfa is also a popular food choice; most guinea pigs will eat large amounts of alfalfa when offered it, though there exists some controversy over the feeding of alfalfa to adult guinea pigs. Some pet owners and veterinary organizations have advised that, as a legume rather than a grass hay, alfalfa consumed in large amounts may lead to obesity, as well as bladder stones due to excess calcium, in any but pregnant and very young guinea pigs. Another reviewer stated that her vet said corn is bad for guineas. This should be corrected to say that whole kernel corn is bad for them because they don't use their hands to eat like some rodents do and it can become a choking hazard. As for fresh veggies instead, anyone who has done their homework knows that ANY guinea pig food should be supplemented with timothy hay and fresh veggies no matter how "complete" the food claims to be. When choosing a guinea pig diet or pellet, avoid those with nuts or seeds, dried fruits, corn products, animal by-products, or beet pulp or other fillers. Also watch for high sugar content (sucrose, fructose, corn syrup, etc) and foods with lots of preservative or added chemicals. I feel confident recommending this to anyone who wants the best nutrition for their beloved guineas :)
Pros: organic, timothy hay is main ingredient, doesn't contain ethoxyquin
Cons: none

I purchased this product thinking I was doing the right thing. It says 100% timothy hay based. My guinea pigs didn't do so well with this pellet. I brought in this bag to my vet with the pigs, and he pointed out on the ingredient list things like "ground corn" and "ground vegetables". Corn is not good for them, and any veggies they get should be fresh. I'm sorry to say that I purchased this product, and have since found something much better to feed my pets.

Best On The Market!

I have been feeding this stuff to Peanut since she was seven months old! And let me say this stuff is great! So much quality! But the con is it is a bit pricey. $10.99 for 5lb Wow! But every single penny spent on this food is worth it! This food will keep your guinea pig in tiptop shape! I read the package and I was just blown away at how much this product promotes overall health! But you can't alway trust the package! But trust me this is so guinea pig friendly! And it's great because it comes in 5lb bags (that are resealable!) 5lb of food lasts a long time! Thanks!
