Okay so my sister has been BEGGING for a hamster of her own since I brought mine home. We went to PetSmart to adopt it and when we did got this cage. It's small (even for a dwarf) so we connected it to another. Oh and the lid cracked because she didn't really assemble it carefully enough. (she's 9) So, just if you have a small kid PLEASE help them assemble or the plastic may break. Otherwise, PERFECT! ;)

this cage is excellent!!! The day I bought my new hamster, I bought this cage as well. I've used this cage for five years! the durability was excellent, my hamster loved it! and it was super easy to clean. And the best thing of all is the price, the price is diffidently reasonable. It is an overall excellent cage for a hamster.
I highly recommend it for you and your little rodent friend too!

I love CritterTrail's products, though they usually seem to be smaller then could be. I love the little grass nest, but the wheel's a bit noisy. I've trained myself to fall asleep to it, but it still kind bugs me. It's not exactly squeaky, but it sounds like when you run you finger down wire. Other than those two things, my mice love it!

I'm probably giving this cage an 'excellent' rating because compared to the other cages I've had it's brilliant, but still not everything I was looking for. I have owned 4 cages in the past 2 years for my 2 hamsters (one Russian Dwarf and one short-haired, obviously kept in separate cages). This one I got for my dwarf hamster because the one I was using before was a nightmare to clean and severely lacked in quality. This one is much easier to clean, but it still has its problems. The water bottle that came with mine didn't work at all. From my experience, the ones that come with the cage are very inconsistent and I always end up buying a new one. Also, the cage is too small for anything but a dwarf hamster or maybe a single mouse (but they don't like to be alone, so..). The wheel does make quite a bit of noise, so if that is something that will annoy you expect to need to buy a new wheel. One positive aspect that I didn't expect was the high edges. My little guy loves to burrow, so this was a huge plus. Oh, and the way the top lifts up as a huge opening is pretty nice.

Bought this last night for our first hamster, Pork Chop. It was easy to put together and the perfect size.

I didn't give it and "excellent" rating for quality as the water bottle doesn't seem to work very well. We will be getting a new one today. Also, the wheel is very awkward, small and VERY noisy. (not squeaky noisy, it just makes a bunch of racket) We will also be buying a different wheel.

I haven't cleaned it yet, but it looks simple enough, I don't see how it could be hard.

Pork Chop loves his home. :)

I got this cage for my science fair project it was for my first hamster Daisy I was seeing how long it would take her to go through a maze. Its bigger than what you think but I added some tubes. I also had the same cage for my Russian dwarf hamsters;Minnie and princess. I recommend it for mice too the bars are smaall enough they wont escape. The only thing I dislike is that the water bottle has to stay in one place so its hard to rearrange the cage. Other than that its perfect I recommend it!!!! :) (:

I bought this cage and when we tried to put the wheel on the cage it did not fit in the bars. Also I find it is very small and can only fit a small house and the wheel. It was easy to clean though but I would not recommend this product.

I had this cage for my Fancy Hamster, Moo. He died about two years ago. I saw a sweet, calm, honey colored hamster at Petsmart; and I'm going to Petsmart tomorrow and trying to get my parents to let me buy her!

this is the first hamster cage i got when i got my first hamster. its a good starter cage but it is a little on the small side so I added on to this a fish tank. It is really easy to attach tubes and the tubes are a lot of fun. the wheel is really loud

This is a great size cage, and it's great that it came with accessories, as I'm a first time hamster owner, and may not have known what to buy. The built in exercise wheel is perfect because it takes up less room than if I had to purchase one separately. I have expanded the habitat with various tunnels, and also connected a smaller cage to create a 'two- bedroom condo'. I put the hamster in one cage while cleaning the other, and once dry, transfer him to the other. It is very easy to assemble and disassembel, which makes cleaning very easy. My hamster seems very happy in his habitat!

When I first decided to get a hamster, I saw this cage online and thought it looked awful small. So, the next weekend, I went to Petsmart and was looking at the cage I intended on getting, then I saw this one and thought it was actually the perfect size-and it is!The picture compared to seeing it in person makes a world of difference. Togepi(my robo dwarf hamster) loves it! It is a great cage to start out with. I plan on getting tubes and stuff to connect to it. But it is super easy to clean, and to those saying the water leaks-it hasn't leaked once for me. The water bottle is perfect. I would recommend this cage to anyone getting a dwarf hamster.

This cage works great as a starter cage, it is easy to assemble and looks great. Cleaning this cage is also easy. This cage works great for a starting cage and connecting tubes and other cages to it. the only problem i had with this cage is my hamster could pop the top open but i soon fixed that with a keychain =)
overall it is a great buy and i have had my cage for over a year

I love this cage, when I got my first hamster, I had the older one (the bottem wasn't as deep) and had no problem with it. I gave my hamster away, then about two laters decided I wanted another one. I got this one and it worked great, the only problem I had was the hamster I got was a chewer. She tried to chew the wheel (never broke, but had teeth makrs on it) chewed the tubes (never broke). After a while I would suggest taking the wheel out and spraying it with oil, or getting a new one. Mine started squeeking after about 4 months of heavy use. All around a great cage for starters, great price. I would deffinetly recomend this product!

I recently got a dwarf hamster and he seems to love his new home. It's just the right size for the little guy but I wouldn't recommend it for larger hamsters or gerbils as it is quite small. It has very quick and easy assembly, for me it only takes a couple of minutes to put it together. Also the cage is very sturdy and secure, and easy to clean. The nest is great but I keep it on the floor of the cage because it was too hard for my hamster to climb into. The wheel is okay but rattles a little, which is easily fixed by putting a drop of vegetable oil on the axel, totally gets rid of the noise. The water bottle is fantastic! Overall it is a really great cage for a first time hamster or mice owner, I highly recommend it!

I absolutely love it is is great for me and my trex he loves it and so do i but, i have one problem i just read a couple of reviews and they say that the wheel is silent but truly it isn't. he has such a great time in it but i really would recommend tubes and other add-on accessories other that wheel and space it great. You will enjoy watching your FUZZY friend run around and have some fun and he/she will enjoy having you! :)

hamster removed side knob/escaped

My hamster removed the side piece that covers the opening to connect tubing. This was done prior to any tubing being used. The piece was found inside the cage with the hamster gone. I had to glue the sides as I was afraid she may escape again. (Luckily we found her after a looooong search by following her sounds)
