This sand has a very strong smell. It's a very good sand if you can stand the smell. Its easy to clean and looks nice. My lizard loves it but I can't stand the smell. It made my room, the room next to it, and the room across from that smell like the desert. And there was a lot of dust, but that is to be expected of sand.

I bought the Vita sand (yellow kind) for my leopard gecko a few days ago, and found that it was very dusty. my geckos belly is not stained, and shes licked a bit of it up and is still alive and safe. my only concern about it, is that it is quite smelly and has made my room smell like urine..

A Good Quality Sand

I've heard some not so good things about this sand, but that didn't keep me from picking it up anyway at the store. It's a very nice sand. Sure it may be a bit dusty, but for me, the mess isn't that big. I've also heard from a couple of sources that the sand won't cause impaction if swallowed in small amounts. Now that's a safe thing about this. It also adds a much more natural feel to the tank and I love it. I recommend this sand to anyone despite the small mess.

While this sand has a fairly natural appearance, it is so dusty that not even warm water can wash it off my bearded draons. The dust gets everywhere and cannot be good for the animals breathing it in. Every time my beardie ran around his cage he would kick up a ton of dust which spread out over all the surfaces inside the cage. I can't say I recommend this product, though it is a step up from calcium sand.

Pros: looks great, easy to clean

Cons: messy

I bought this for my sons geckos in a neutral light orange/red color. Not only was it insainly dusty, but it stained everything!!! Our geckos were orange within a day of shedding and stayed orange untill the next shed! regular warm water soaks had no effect. They were stained orange until the next shed! I threw out the water bowl because it turned that orange color around the edges and It wouldn't wash off!!! So very dissaopinted. what is the point of having beautiful geckos if the substrate is going to stain them orange! horrible!! doesn't even dererve one star.

Got this for my beardie, the yellow one. has not stained anything. was dusty when i poured it in but then i just wiped down the walls of the tank and everything was fine. i LOVE how fine it is compared to other sands to reduce risk of impaction. he did lick it a couple time when i put him in but they are curious creatures and he had never seen sand before. easy cleaning and lasts a long time.

Pros: easy to clean, looks great

This stuff is amazing for my bearded dragon it didn't stain him or dust up to much but what can you expect it is sand lol other then the dust i recommend this product to any novice or expert reptile owners

When I bought it, the bag said all natural, calcium- you would think no harm. Poured the sand in and the dust went in my nose and eyes. Wiped down the glass and it looked kinda neat once all dust settled. When it was time for cleaning and changing the dishes- dust everywhere again. I never had this happen with other sands. The worst part is when I took my bearded dragon out- his feet, belly, tail, and lower jaw were stained orange. Changed the sand, he shedded, and he is still stained. It's been a little over a month- he's still stained and so are the water/food dishes

I used a little bit (like a quarter of a bag for part of my leopard gecko terrarium.It got dust EVERYWHERE! I do not suggest you get this product because it also turned my gecko's belly orange(the color of the sand). There is alot better sand out there...

i have 6 lizzards and this is all i use i love this stuff why because you can pick a color to match whatever you really want it to and when it's time to clean the cage get a sand siffter and scoop it up and you good to go! i rate 5 stare for this produc, and i thank the petsmart worker's who helped me build the enviorment that my lizzard's live in!Thankyou and have a happy holidays!
