I have have been using the 228 model for about three weeks and is well worth the money. The first few hours I used the included air line, then added a check valve to try and block the water from rising in the tube. The next day I ran a line from my air pump to the check valve and into the unit. With an air pump running it, this unit pushes a light wave of water full of air bubbles in my 55 gallon tank. I have the unit in the back corner of the tank and the wave of air bubbles reaches mid tank. I would recommend this unit to a friend.

For a 36b gallon tank, it is perfect. Even though the air intake tube doesn't work, it still had good water flow. I hooked up a small air pump to the intake and now it adds plenty of oxegyn to my tank. I am going to get another on for the other tube tomorrow.

Bought the 214 today. Simple to install and use. Output is kinda low. Put my hand in front of the sweeping output and could not feel the current flow beyond about 2". Also the air hose and diffuser are useless, does not have enough output to draw air down the hose, you can see the water pulsing up and down in the air hose (and yes the output adjustment was turned up to full). Going to return it and try the 228 model instead.

In my opinion this product would be great for a small nano under 10 gallons but it is way too big to put in a tank that small. I got this for my 46 gallon reef aquarium and it had no movement at all. Its also so big for what it actually is...a powerhead. I switched to the penguin powerhead and purchased a Koralia rotater and it is so much better. Moves the water in a circle rather then just back and forth. The rotators can also go on any size depending on your tank size.
Pros: good for under 10 gallon aquariums
Cons: too big for small aquariums

After one week the PowerSweep is still going strong, although after only a few hours the rotating discharge tube became stationary, but 24 hours latter it started rotating again with no intervention on my part. The suction and discharge is currently higher than any of the other brands I have used so far and managed to pull a large amount of debris from the bottom gravel filters that have accumulated with the other power heads. I’m assuming this is what jammed the rotating head and finally cleared its self from its own flow. I had to pull the air vent tube after installation to shorten it and could not get the tube back in without pulling the unit out of the tank. Once back in the tank the aeration is working fine, although I just use this as secondary aeration. All the other I’ve owned have failed aeration after only a few weeks, so we’ll how this does long term. The only reason I don’t rate this product 5 or 5 is due to the number of pieces needed to put together before installing in the tank, not a big deal though. I will be adding a second one in a week to my 80 gallon tank and I hope to rerate this in a month or so.
Pros: flow volume, rotating head
Cons: number of pieces, hard to replace air tube

This product is not good at all. Not only is under powered, but it doesn't create any air bubbles at all. Yes it is made well and moves back and forth, but it is underpowered and creates more noise in my tank than the external pump i am using. I dont recommend this to anyone. Pick another brand. Now I know why this is the cheapest power head.

I returned this item because it failed to move a sufficient quantity of water in my 29 gallon euro tank. I am trying to recreate an amazonian habitat for my six pygocentrus ternetzi's and the water movement was minimal at best. This product would be perfect in an aquarium up to 15-20 gallons, the sweep motion is superb. It just doesn't have enough power to reproduce a strong undercurrent as found in the amazon. I must say that the build quality and reliability is fantastic, just use it in a smaller tank:)

i use these in every tank i own now. It seems to be the best working power head i've used in a long time now. Works well in even the not so great water conditions as well.
