get the larger calcium things if you want to feed them. if you want to keep the tank cleaner get the water type cleaner thingy(forgot what its called) and put it in after you clean the tank with water conditioner

it grows algae and those stuff because algae and the other green stuff actually helps the turtle live thats what suppose to be on their shell.

i got this thinking it will keep my turtle healthy which means keeping bacteria and stuff growing in the water to keep them healthy. im positive it won't dissolve completly. My turtles just ate it. i put it. They are curious and nip at it. 2 turtles nipping at this block 5 mins gone down in their tummies.
Cons: everything

this product isnt that bad but its really for the smaller tanks such as a 20 gallon, because it doesnt last long. Well lets just say my turtle used to turn into cannibalism, by eating this little turtle, apparantly he likes the taste. Every time i dropped it in the turtle would automatically notice it dissolving and rush to take a bite, so i had to destract the turtle with a can of reptomin so he'd take his mind of it. It actually lasts up to a month if you keep distractuing your turtle like i did, but i think Dr. Turtle is a better but for me, its bigger, lasts longer, and has more germ killing ingredients than this itsy bitsy turtle.

This item does not keep a turtle healthy, it is only to make you think it. The only way to keep them healthy is cleaning the tank and proper filtration. Avoid this, save your $3...it won't do any harm but it doesn't do much good.
