I've had this stand for several years now and it's always held up my 55 gallon aquarium, even when we rearranged our living room a few times. It holds up against water damage from occasional spills every now and again from water change outs and wipes down easily with simple dust cleaners. The shelving make for great storage for all my aquarium storage needs!

I can't say is this stand works or not, because it actually fell apart as I assembled it, following the directions to the letter. The PLASTIC pegs broke and the particle board just crumbled apart. I am incredibly disappointed in this product. I so wish I had seen it online before choosing it in the store, because I would have listened to the negative reviews.
Frankly, I am surprised that it actually holds the rated weight for anyone. I wouldn't want to trust it having seen how flimsy the parts are.

I think this is a great product easy to assemble. However, the product is so heavy and the manufacturer doesn't pack it well enough to ship across the us without damaging it. I got one and called Petsmart and they sent me another one without having to send the old one back. Both shipments had damaged parts in them. The good thing was that I managed to salvage a good one from the two shipments.
Overall, it's sturdy, the pieces fit well if you read the directions thoroughly. It had little chips but they were fixed with a furniture marker easily

The Process...

Let me start off before I lead into the details that this stand is so-so in some aspects and pretty good in others.
Formerly I had a 75 Gallon custom made stand that stood around 36" and I wanted something shorter and "furniture" looking. This stand seemed to match pretty close to what I wanted without spending more than $200.00.
When the stand is being put together, I'd suggest a slow and thoughtful process as a piece or two can be a tad bit patient-trying. As I'm quite patient, the top was a challenge getting it just right and balanced. This is all particleboard except for the front bottom piece and the top.
Other than that, the holes and pieces seem to fit quite well. There was a slight notch or two in the top piece, but luckily it was minor enough to not be seen unless you closely look. Plus, the notches were in places that were more hidden.
After building it all, it looks quite nice. BUT, be very careful as the enamel paint on the pieces can be chipped and tarnished easily. For the price, it's really not a bad fish tank stand. It's true, on the most part, what some folks say - "You get what you pay for". Of course if I paid a lot more for a fish tank stand, I'd have a better quality, more than likely. I just didn't want to dish out a lot more money for a fish tank stand.
I bought the black finish and heard (before the purchase) that it smudged easily, but that proved to be wrong. It takes a bit of work to smudge it.
As far as the fish tank sitting on top of the stand, it doesn't seem to wobble. I even have the stand on carpet and it is quite sturdy for my 75 Gallon Fish Tank (with sand, rocks, plants and over 35 Mbunas).
Overall - The quality is 3.5 stars, the construction is 2.5 stars, and the sturdiness and the way it looks after putting it together, etc - Maybe 4 stars, but more along the line of 3.5 stars. I would have given this stand 3.5 stars if half stars were available to give.
I do recommend this fish tank stand BUT with caution and lots of patience.

Some of the boards don't line up! The top cannot be tightly attached to the support boards. I just cannot believe the manufacture dares to sell such a funiture. The back of the stand is not finished. This is important to me because I didn't plan to have it stand against a wall.
I wish I could return it.

This review will not be talking about quality, ease of assembly or anything of the like. First off I would like to warn that this product is EXTREMELY heavy. Twice I have ordered this product and both times I received it broken, chipped, and obviously with areas painted for coverage of damage. I am very disappointed. Of course they will refund the item but I shouldn't have to go through the hassle of having to ship it back.

Bought this stand in 2006 to put my newly aquired 55 gallon aquarium on. As I remember assembly and disassembly is fairly easy. It's been through 3 houses over the years, disassembled at every move. Plenty of space underneath for aquarium pumps, accessories, and food. 6 years later it still looks just as good as it did when I bought it. Great unit, and hard to beat the price!

I love the look of this stand but they could have better instructions for putting it together, which is why I knocked a star off. I must say this is the most attractive 75 gallon stand petsmart carries.
As an average size woman I would not suggest puting this together with out help unless u can lift over a hundred pounds. I needed help flipping it over a few times but otherwise I did put it together without much help.
It was very difficult to tell which way boards were supposed to face at times which led to me installing the bottom board upside down. I will just end up painting the exposed partial board cause it woulda been too hard to fix it. The top was kinda difficult to install as well but I got it on with help.
I have put together many pieces of furniture and actually enjoy it but I must say this was a bit of a challenge for me. And usually I do make one mistake puting things together so it's not surprising the mistake I made. However, better instructions woulda prevented my mistake in this case. And it took a little over 2 hours to put it together.

i had bought the tank and stand to put behind my couch. the stand woulda been kinda hidden and not eally seen, after assembling it the tank did not go behind my couch. instead on a highly visible wall in my livingroom. it looks expensive and high quality,BUT with the small screws that hold the doors on id be careful of how agressively i open them id say if you have young children that touch it you may lose a door due to the thumbtack screws that hold them on,
the directions are good but they leave out the assembly of the doors
overall id definately buy this stand again if i had to start all over

I didnt want laminated pressboard, but I couldnt pass this up for the price. It went together quick and easy and looks great. Looks so much better than the old standard double-door tank stand. It has extra support in the bottom and seems overkill for my 55gal. so it should hold a 75 no problem. I had a Metaframe reef tank(heavier) on a stand that wasnt built half as good as this stand and had no issues. The only down side(for me)was that the center cabnet didnt have any access holes for wires. A hole saw will fix that problem quickly.

Excellent product for the price. I purchase the black one. It tends to attract dust fairly easily, so keep in mind when choosing which color to buy. No problem with the assembly just follow the directions in the proper order no shortcuts. Unit is very heavy to bring home, assemble it near the final location.

I had been shopping for a new stand for a long time (months). I finally decided to get myself a nice Christmas gift and ALMOST bought one from my LFS. When I saw this one (in black) at Petsmart, for about $50 less than others, I was amazed. I read reviews and decided to go with it.
My tank is a Visio 60g (48.5"x15.5"x16"). This stand fit it perfectly, with a few inches extra in depth.
I would say that it was fairly easy to setup by myself. Make sure you follow the instructions! The only thing I adjusted was the "E" and "F" (I think- the skinny supports in the back) installation. It's instructed to screw them in place, while its layed on its back. I only started the screws, but, did not fasten them all the way yet. This is because there's about a half inch that they would be hanging loose, until you put the top on. Once I started the top installation, I flipped it upside-down and used a little body weight to push the pegs in the top. THEN I screwed the boards all the way. (you will understand better when you read the instructions.) I did this, because, if you stand it proper and try to get the pegs in, the bottom will bow a little, since the bottom supports aren't in yet.
I was skeptical about the material and if it would actually support it, until I got towards the end of assembly. There are long beams that transverse the underside (not apparent by looking at it, since there's an arch of sorts at the feet.) And they're finished in the same color as the rest of the stand. Once I installed those I was really feeling good!
Overall, this is a great stand for the price!
The only negative was I found a smaaaaall chip of finish at the bottom, in the front. A bit of black sharpie fixed that. It wasn't my fault, since I examined everything as I was laying out the pieces. Not a big issue though.
If weight alone determined quality then this stand gets 10 stars. This bad boy is heavy. I got it up a flight of stairs myself though. Then again, I'm a beast! hah!
Oh and the ACTUAL dimensions are 49"x19"x30.5". I believe the details say its 50"x19 9/16". However, there's a lip that cuts about a half inch off the front to back and an inch of length.
The last thing, is that you may want to dust it every now and then. It gathers it fairly quick.
Pros: easy to install, easy to clean, sturdy

Bought this stand this past weekend. I've been reading reviews and shopping online for stands for the past 2 weeks, was even walking around pricing out parts to build my own.
Decided the time commitment and available raw materials weren't going to give me the "living room" appealing stand I desired (since I'm a novice wood craftsman at best)... so finally decided to just dish out the cash for this.
Overall appearance is great. Matches my 75 gallon tank perfect. Biggest fear was/is structure. Again I'm a novice wood crafter so I know zilch on structure. But After assembling this piece, i filled it up with 75g (750lbs) of water, and nothing snapped :p ... so that's good!
Building it was easy. Finger tips hurt from pushing and screwing all the screws and brackets together, but all in all it went well.
The comment I will make is this ... Before buying this stand, I read plenty of reviews bashing the craftsmanship of this piece, saying how holes didn't line up all that nonsense. Personally, as I had assumed when reading those posts, these people were just clueless, careless, and to quick and impatient when building this piece.
I will admit I was quite impatient myself. At one point I had hammered the dowels into the wrong side of the side pieces, and wondered why the holes didn't line up. that's when i realized I had done the wrong side. So my assumption is that the people complaining about things not lining up, did the same thing. After I fixed MY error, everything else lined up great.
Oh one last thing, the little magnet metal strips that affix to the door panels, the mini screws were junk. They stripped to easy and wouldn't go in all the way, so i dug up 2 screws of higher quality in my own drawer, and fixed that.
Definitely a 4 out of 5 star product .... and if you consider ease and price, perhaps you can throw the extra star on the end.

Bought this Stand over 3 years ago to hold my 55 gallon tank. It wasn't too difficult for me alone to assemble....I don't consider myself that handy, so I don't understand some of the reviews who claim it's hard to put together.
Every hole was lined up perfectly, everything was square and level after I was finished and I was very impressed. It has held my 55 gallon and has been sturdy for over 3 years. Looks great too!
