Disappointed
April 16, 2013

Nice looking stand. Would love to have kept it but it was not manufactured well. Four pieces were cut wrong and/or the holes drilled for the screws were not placed correctly. The bottom pieces were uneven which caused the tank to tilt back and forth.I read that others have had this problem as well so I disassembled the stand and returned it. Will not be purchasing this model again as it was too much of a hassle. Based on the flaws I saw after putting the one I purchased together I feel that chances are good that a different box would have the same problem. Not worth the money or time.

I purchased this kit to go with my 29gal Petsmart tank kit. Assembly was very straight forward and not difficult. The unit is particle board as expected, but extremely sturdy once assembled. The top has a max load rating of 450lbs and 100lbs can be stored below. Those specs are hard to beat for the price. Black veneer surface looks nice, as does the hardware. It's made in the USA too!
Pros: easy to clean, sturdy, easy to install

This stand is super easy to assemble. Not sure how so many people couldn't figure it out. Yes there are some board not marked, but there is a total of 6 different sizes, a little thinking and you can easily figure it out.

CONS: 1. Took a while to assemble 2. Wish it was available for a larger aquarium
PROS: 1. Looks like a piece of furniture 2. Seems to be very water resistant 3. Very sturdy - no wobble 4. Shelves inside accomodate plenty of supplies
I am ready to upsize my planted aquarium and just wish I could find something I like as well. Would definitely recommend to someone looking for a nice stand for a good price!

Back of stand.
This 29 gallon black stand looks nice and was sturdy when put together. It can hold the weight of a 29 gallon tank BUT it can easily tip over.
I tried it on a rug and wood floor. It would rock back and forth too easily on the rug and wood floor. With over 200 LBS sitting on top of this I would not trust it.
I put this together correctly. It is solid when put together but the bottom on the side-boards was uneven. I am not going to go buy sandpaper, let alone a sander to level it out - or have to prop the bottom up with shims - or brace it to the wall, it's not worth it.
I took this back and will look for a stand with a flat board as a base (like my 10 gallon stand) or just make my own.
Again, this stand looks nice and is sturdy and solid when put together but the one I received was not level and would tip forward or backwards too easily.
Petsmart was great, return was easy.

The directions are clear, just need to make sure your reading them correctly. You could misinterpret them if your skimming or speed reading.
The one complaint I made to PetSmart was the finish on the two door panels was not applied properly. When filling my tank I splashed a little water on them and the stain washed off onto my floor. Lucky for me the floor is wood and not a rug, or that the splash didn't get on my clothes. PetSmart said that they will write the manufacturer and send me new door panels.
....more to come

Bought this for my 29 gallon fish tank. Once it was assembled and the tank was put on top, it's looked good and I am not worried that it is going to collapse or fall over which is the most important part!
I gave it three stars because it really is a fine piece of furniture. It's not crazy expensive and you are getting what you pay for. However, the coloring on the doors is a little off and cheap looking on mine but I'm sure this varies. My main complaint was that it was really hard to assemble. I am the designated "assembler" in my house, and this was one of the harder pieces I have had to put together. The directions are clear but the pieces just aren't great quality and it's hard to get it all JUST right. Normally this wouldn't matter, but for something that is holding 300+ pounds and 29 gallons of water in my living room, I want it put together perfectly.
Next time I would probably spend more for something of higher quality, but this is not a bad piece and I would recommend it if you are on a very tight budget.

I think it is funny how some people but bad ratings but used a tank that surpassed the weight and size that this stand is for. I think that if you put any tank on a stand that is way heavier than the size it is for the stand will sway and be off a little because it has too much weight on it.
But for my review it is a nice stand and very appealing to the eye. It goes well with the other furniture in my apartment. My tank fits perfectly on it and looks great! I have gotten many compliments about it. It is not a bad stand at all from what other reviews have said. Maybe people need a little help with putting things together properly so they dont have issues. ")

While I almost never write reviews I felt i must for just how bad this product was.
I got to about the step of putting the top on and for the life of me it will no go on. First, the two back parts would barely screw in as the one looked cut at an angle to the right (There was a big gap between it and the side, which the other side did not have). Than as I attempted to put the top on, it appears the two back parts are cut to small for the cams to even attempt to lock. It's possible that is to allow for "give" of the tank, but their is a good quarter inch "gap" between the two back parts and where they are supposed to screw in. If I continue to try and do this, I fear I will break the thing.
While I cannot judge on the stand fully built, as it stands now it also feels very flimsy, and I would be a bit worried even putting my 200+ lb tank on it if it was possible to complete. Needless to say I now need to disassemble what I did, pack it up, and take this terrible product back.
For the price, it was far below my expectations. I definitely know how to put together furniture, as I just rebuilt my whole office last week with 5 separate pieces I had to assemble without an issue. This is clearly a design / quality control flaw.

okay, i needed a stand for my 29 gallon aquarium and found this one. i was a little skeptical at first because of some of the negative reviews, but the stand is great. there was no black residue like some other reviews said and it took me less than 30 min to assemble. there is alot of room inside the cabinet itself, and even the inside looks nice. when i got it, it did lean a little toward the front, but that was fixed by me just sanding the brace going across the underside. this is a good stand. if you need a 29 gal stand, i would highly reccomend this stand to anyone.

Contrary to what other reviews have said, this item IS made in the USA. (It's clearly marked as such on the box and on this website.) My man assembled this for me quickly and easily, and it looks quite nice in my living room. I have the black one, and the hardware that came with mine is sleek and modern--nicer (IMHO) than the hardware shown on this site. I use this stand for my 20 gallon tank, for added security. I have it on carpet, so we positioned stabilizing wedges (available at the hardware store) under the front legs, and it does not move AT ALL. It's great to have the shelves hidden for storing all of my aquarium equipment. I like this stand a lot!

Attempted to use this with my 39 gallon tank. It was sitting at a slant so I moved it around the carpet, with no luck. The doors on the front and lack of having a back side make this sit unleveled (lower in front) on carpet. My fish tank was also rocking back and forth because of the stand. Returning this today. It also had black residue from the paint that I had to clean off because it left traces of black on the floor. Also some of the pieces were unmarked, so had to guess while building it. I do not recommend this product to hold your fish tank on carpet because it is very unstable.
Pros: looks nice
Cons: chips easily, sits heavier in front, unleveled, black residue from paint

My husband and I put this together in about an hour. We did not have any trouble with missing or wrong pieces. The instructions were easy enough to follow, but it was easier just to look at the pictures rather than reading the actual instructions. We have a turtle and his tank fit perfectly with plenty of support. This piece of furniture would have to go against a wall because the back side of it is open, which is great if you are using an external canister for your filtering needs. We got the Native Oak color, which is a very nice shade and compliments our other furniture very well. I would recommend this product.

This cabinet is for lack of a better term "piece of junk"! It is uncomplicated to assemble, it has a poor fit and finish.
A major design flaw is that the back is supposed to have a right and left backing that is unfinished on one side and finished on the other, so that when completed you can see the black finish she you open the door. However the manufacturer has messed up at the factory and the back has two left hand sections. The holes that are pre drilled must line up for proper installation. However because of this flaw you end up with the right side showing the unfinished particle board. I called the factory and they sent me another one but it was the same, so I can only assume that they messed up and made two right side panels and not a right and left.
Pros: looks okay
Cons: too many to mention., u.s. needs to start making their own products agai

The stand is good quality and sturdy. The direction had 5 simple steps to follow and took me a hour to put together. The only trouble I ran into was one of the doors were missing the holes to attach the door knob. Besides that, I would recommend this product to anyone.

This cabinet is a great value for the price. It took me about 2.5 hours to put together (all by myself) and I have to say it couldn't have been easier. The instructions were very clearly outlined. If anyone has ever put together any Ikea furniture, they can certainly put this together!! I especially appreciated that this piece came with extra hardware incase any screws were missing!!! Looks amazingly rich!

this is not a bad stand for the money. i ordered the black because my tank has the black trim. it took me about an hour to assemble and it looks nice. it is particle board but the way it is braced makes it very sturdy. the only problem i had with the stand is that it was not perfectly level when it was assembled and thats very important when your putting close to 350 pounds on top of it. If you buy this stand make sure that you have some shims handy. overall it is a great value for the money and i will buy more for my other tanks.
