Holding my 20 gallon tank.
Pros: strong, looks nice, good price Cons: average quality, could be made better
"I bought this stand for my new 20 gallon tank. It was pretty easy to put together. It took me approximately 2 hours to assemble. I would not say it is high quality, but it does what it is supposed to. I added glue to the joints as I put it together for added strength. For some reason the cross piece on the bottom was slightly too large which made it slightly wobbly, so I had to use a saw to remove a little wood from that piece. Even though its not a great stand I am happy with it. It looks nice and seems strong. It has 2 shelves inside for storage. The price is good. If you have the money, buy a better one. If you are on a budget get this one."

Very nice stand........,

Pros: smooth finished appearance, parts all fit well together, fairly simple instructions Cons: pressboard instead of real wood
"I put this together in a couple of hours and was pleased with the overall quality and appearance of the stand. All of the panels matched, most were stamped with the appropriate letter that corresponded with the instructions. Everything lined up and only a Phillips head screw driver and small hammer were needed. All holes were pre-drilled. All of the hardware was included .. and a few extras as well. I REALLY liked the end result. It is a solid stand and matches the other 2 stands that I purchased earlier at PetsMart. I would recommend this to a friend for sure.."

I liked this stand so much,,
November 29, 2009
by madchemist
from Near Chicago
"I bought the matching stand for my 29 gallon tank.
I was in need of a stand for my 10G and selected this one as it matched the room my tank was in. I saw that it was a particle board composite so I used Gorilla Glue during the assembly for added strength.
It went together fairly easy and sat level. Strangely, when placed against the wall with my tank, it leaned forward as other had noted. I used one 1/4" wood shim under each of the front corners to level it out. The shims were not noticeable and my tank sat very stable after full setup. I tried shaking it to see if an accidental tip was possible, the stand did not move.
To the comments that a wrought iron stand would be better is subjective. Is it stronger? Absolutely. Does wrought iron match everyone's household decor? Absolutely not. It would not look right in my home. I Like the fact that this is a true cabinet with concealed storage of my tank maintenance supplies.
I have had this stand for a little under two years and it is still as good as the day it was first set up.
I have no problem recommending this to anyone; in fact as I started this post, I picked up the matching stand for my 29 gallon tank about three weeks later and have been equally as pleased with that one."

This piece of furniture was terrible!,
June 7, 2009
by justmarci
from Central NJ
Pros: there are none!
"Do not waste your money on this piece. I know with the RTA pieces it's a risk, but we had a truly terrible experience. We went today to buy our kids their first aquarium and I picked this stand to hide the accessories. Hubby didn't want it as he said the wrought iron stand would be fine. Low and behold he was right. I would truly give this a 0 in every category if I could. The original one we purchased was missing panel A altogether. I went back and exchanged it for another which was stupid. The second one had stripped screws, too many holes on panel G so that you couldn't figure out which ones were the right ones to put the screws in based on the picture and when the screws did go in, the laminate buckled. And it was chipped all over the place. Really not worth your money at all."

"I have had my stand for about a year and have not had any problems. It was easy to put together and looks good. My favourite thing about it is that it hides my aqarium accessories."

A+ Aquarium Stand,
August 19, 2007
by legomatt58
from PA
"When I bought this aquarium stand for my 10 gallon freshwater tank I was a little hesitant on it. I had read reviews about people not having any luck with it, but when I put it together I was pretty satisfied. It took me about 2 hours to put together and I didn't have any problems with it not being sturdy. The directions were included and easy to follow. It is a great stand for small tanks and I would buy another."

No Problems At All,
February 20, 2007
by kc932
from Clarksville, TN
"I have had this stand for about a year. I have had no problems out of this stand. It took my husband about an hour (if that) to put together. My aquarium is about 40 gallons and tall. The stand sags a little in the middle but other than that there are no problems. It did lean forward a little bit, but we put matching color wood block under the feet and it took care of the problem. The only thing I dont care for is the knob on the door."

Would give this zero stars if I could.,
January 15, 2007

"Two of the supporting panels (front and back) are too short by 1/4 inch which leaves a gap between the top of the unit and the panels. The support piece that goes underneath base is 1/2 and inch wider on one side than on the other. Some of the guide holes for the screws are missing. It looks cheap and it smells strongly of chemicals. We spent 1.5 hours assembling this stand only to find that is so unstable that you can rock it back and forth. We will not be able to put our aquarium on this unit--I'd be afraid that it would crash within moments...we are very disappointed."

"For the price, this is a very great stand. I don't know why other buyers have had so many problems. Assembly was easy, done in under an hour. It looks great and does the job you need it to do...hold up that tank! :)"

TopFin 20 gal aquarium stand,
December 27, 2006
by Spishak
from Minneapolis, MN
"Knowing this was RTA furniture, I didn't expect much, but this product is the poorest quality I have seen. The top of the stand, where your 200 lb. aquarium will rest, is merely sawdust held together with glue binder. The hardware stripped out of the holes with 2/3 turns of the screwdriver. The holes are not drilled to the correct depth to accept the cam lock hardware and the pieces that are put together with wood screws are not evenly matched so the top simply will not rest level. If I could give a negative rating, I would."

Not worth the money,
November 11, 2006
by tenwen

"We puchased this product yesterday. It took approximately 2 hrs to put it together. The laminate on some of the pieces appears to be peeling away from the particle board. The door has two dents in the front. I would return it to the store if it weren't for the fact that my Aquarium needs something to sit on...now. Not pleased with this purchase at all"

Good enough for what I needed.,
October 8, 2006
by Anonymous
from Tucson, AZ
"Although it would be difficult, one could build this without directions. I would also say that the person who posted the previous review was just unlucky about which box he chose and the instructions were not with the parts. If you need directions just go to the store and ask for them. Since this is a Top Fin product the Petsmart stores are very flexible about returns.
This product is made of particle board and, of course, is heavy. Design is fine and it does what it needs to. The black color is from a black, plastic laminate that is used to disguise the particle board contstruction."

Assembly instructions not included!,
September 27, 2006
by Agroboy
from Santa Cruz, CA
"I might like this stand if I could put the freaking thing together! After unpacking the box I found what appeared to be all of the parts but NO assembly instructions. Just try putting all the pieces back in the box to return it. Ha!
Online instructions might have saved the day but hey not to be found here...."
