I have Oscars, bumblebees, and Jewels in my 60 gallon tank. They love swimming through all the mangrove style vines that this product offers. I would recommend sprucing it up with some live plants but I do feel that this has a very life like look to it as well as the other counterparts that look the same as this product.

This is a great product the only drawback is mine has faded to a greyish white over time. Worth getting adds a variety of structure to my tank. Little pricey though.

I have a 55 gallon native species fish tank. My chain pickerel enjoys swimming through and hovering around this decoration. I have not had any problems with it, and would definitely recommend it.

I bought the exact one pictured in-store on a whim to go with my "let's make the aquarium look as realistic as possible without having to buy real plants" phase. I was a little jilted by the pricetag but, ah, oh well. I wanted it, so I bought it. 3 years later, I'm glad I grabbed it - I still love it! It looks AMAZING under a Coralife bulb - the subtle pale greens and purples make it seem a little more mysterious and interesting even than the regular white light did. I've had no problems with the paint job, and it's resin - so it's sturdy! In fact, it looks and feels the same as it did when I got it 3 years ago. The fish love it (plenty of hidey-holes to duck in and out of), and I love it (it's so visually interesting while still appearing 'natural') so I call that a win-win!
PS: To those who commented that they 'didn't get what was pictured': what is pictured is the XL model (and yes - they probably should have mentioned that in the description, or pictured all 3 models side-by-side for comparison). The two other sizes (M, L) are a bit differently-shaped, but the surface look and feel to them is essentially the same. This is so that people with bigger tanks can mix and match them without being repetitious.
Pros: durable, stylish
Cons: price

This is a beautiful decoration for any tank. And I have 2 different sizes of this product as well. The only problem that I have noticed, as stated by someone else's post as well, is that the surface paint comes off all too easy. Any kind of scrubbing or fish that brush the surface will remove the paint. My plecostomus has stripped the entire surface down to the white foundation.
Pros: stylish
Cons: flimsy

NB: The one pictured is the XLarge!!!

This is a beautiful piece, just looks nothing like the picture. I ordered the Large online and it's this pretty but very long and low thing - I have a column tank so ordered this specifically because it appeared to offer some height. But what I got was the complete opposite effect, and it can't be turned on its side sturdily...Just be careful ordering online, wish I'd have gotten the one in the pic!

Just wanted to let everyone know that this product looks beautiful inside the aquarium. It looks like real tree roots. My fish love it. However, there is a major problem with this decor. The paint has only a thin coat which comes off too easy. I've only had the decor for 2 months and Im already seeing the white resin showing through it. You have to be extremely careful using an algae brush or pad on this decor. It will rub the paint right off. Also, if you have a pleco, it will suck the paint down to the white resin cast in no time. Beautiful product, paint NOT durable.. 3 stars!

I ordered the smallest size and it looks nothing like the picture but it fit my tank really well. The piece is really well made and VERY attractive. I love it! Just either buy it in a store or order the large size online.

Cons: different than in pic

Love this piece! One of the best priced ornaments anywhere for something this size, too (and we aquarium owners know how expensive the larger pieces can get!). I have this, along with the large brown "root", item 2752221, in PetSmart's 50 gallon tank & it looks great. Looks very natural & gives plenty of area for the fish to swim around & feel safe. Also have the smaller ("med size") one turned over on its side & they work very well together.

This is a nice large 'root' system that adds a lot of natural character to any tank. It is very tall and just fits into a 30 gal tank if placed upright.
Just a word of caution if you lay it on it's side or use it upside down. The legs are hollow and some fish will go into it and possibly get stuck since there is no easy swim-through. I had two clown loaches that used it as a hiding place but as they grew I was worried about them not being able to get out. It took me several days of watching to find a time when both were out of the root so I could plug up the openings.

My fish absolutely love these tree roots! They swim through them and around them all day long. They are a very nice quality at a good price. I've had them for over two years and they are great. They look absolutely gorgeous in the aquarium.

Honestly, I had no idea it was going to be so beautiful when I got it, I mean I took a chance and lucked out, I bought both the extra large and two mediums and let me tell you, all of my gouramis, tetras, swordtails, pleco, and dainos are in heaven, they go in and out, chase each other, hide in the hole on top, and its so realistic, it truly apears to be an amazon forest, I give it a A+++

I needed a natural looking ornament for my 10 gallon fish tank that had some height. I decided to purchase the 'medium' version of this ornament and have been 100% satisfied. It looks natural and offers many places for fish to hide and swim through. I decided to turn mine around so the open area faces the front of the tank. It's up to you how you place it! It doesn't peel or fall apart. It has a big hole in the top that my betta fish loves to swim into and hide in. You can also grow plants off the many 'root' openings.
One thing to note however is that the image shown here for the product is of the 'extra large' version. The other versions will show the correct thumbnail image in your cart. The medium is upright but smaller of course. I have attached some images to see my medium version!
When I placed my order from PetSmart on Friday it arrived at my door on the following Tuesday at lunch. This is the fastest I have ever received something from on online purchase (and I'm in Canada!). I highly recommend this product as it is high quality, fantastically priced, and looks REALLY good in the tank. I am 100% satisfied with this ornament. I am so glad I came across PetSmart!

I have had this in my 10 gallon for about two and a half months and I haven't noticed anything bad quality wise. It is very natural looking in the tank and is perfect for tying live plants to. Overall it's a great natural looking hideout.

lots of fun for the fish. It's like a maze where they can zig zag in and out of. Your greens will look greener. The neutral colour of this decoration allows your natural fish colour to exhuberate and does not deter away from the focal point of the aquarium - your fish.

Excellent ornament

This is one of my favorite ornaments and my Bettas absolutely LOVE it! I have the medium size one and it fits in a 5.5 gallon tank and also in the 5 gallon Hex tank, although it does take up a bit of space. It looks absolutely natural and gives the fish lots of things to explore and hide under. One thing though, the top is hollow and some curious fish (like Bettas) could get stuck inside and drown. A simple solution is to just fill the top with a handful of gravel to make sure your fish stay safe.

Excellent Ornament

April 15, 2007
by GuppyGal

I purchased this ornament based on the reviews below, and my fish love absolutely love it. The design is very unique...the tangled roots give fish many hiding spots/security, as well as plenty of crevices to swim through. I had to saw a few inches off the bottom to make it fit into my small 5 gallon tank, but the extra work was worth it. My guppies explored and swam through it the minute I put it in the tank. If you want to get extra creative, you can drill a few holes in the top and back of the ornament and insert a few stalks of your favorite silk or plastic plant. Secure the plants in with aquarium sealant/silicone, and voila'...you have decor that's custom made for your fish.
