I would say do not get this for a betta because bettas need at least 2.5 gallons. This made a perfect home for my 3 ghost shrimp though!

At first, this tank was suitable for my fish. I have one betta and it seemed like he was doing fine. I thought the tank would be big enough for one fish, but it gets crowded very quickly. During the first month, the light bulb went haywire; randomly going on and off. It eventually went out. So, I changed the bulb. Although it kept going on and off for quite some time, it was working for the most part. A few months later, the lightbulb has gone out again. I have to go to the store and get another one. I'm just thinking of getting a whole new tank because my betta doesn't have enough room to swim freely without swimming into one of the walls. Poor betta :-/ In my opinion, I would get at least a 5 gal tank to make Mr. and/or Mrs. Fish happy :)

I bought this for my niece who wanted a Betta. It is the perfect size for one. The filter works, but its not the best. We do a water chance once a week to keep it extra clean for the fish. But overall its a nice little tank and if she wanted another fish, I would buy this again!

I was a little unsure what tank to get my fish
but I eventually chose this one! Kiko (my beta) loves it! He has a lot of room to swim around and stuff!! When you buy this tank, You may have to hold the bubbler down with a couple rocks but other than that I love it!
The staff at Petsmart were very friendly and gave me lots of info on the tanks!

Decent little aquarium, but poor light design

This little aquarium is suitable for a betta, which many desktop aquariums are not: most have filters/pumps that create too much current for a betta to handle. The undergravel filter is driven by the air pump and creates just enough flow to keep the trash out of the water, but not so much as to distress the fish. An added benefit, of course, is that it keeps the water oxygenated and prevents stagnation and bacterial growth --scum-- on the top of the water, thus reducing the frequency of water changes.
Unfortunately, the little c7 light built into the hood is not protected from the inevitable condensation and moisture that the filter/air pump creates, and so it corrodes annoyingly. I have had to unscrew the bulb and clean the fixture periodically to remove the corrosion. I now need to replace the light fixture entirely, and apparently there's no way to get parts for this little aquarium, so I suppose I'll just have to get a whole new one.
For such an inexpensive little tank, it does okay. It does have drawbacks, but then, as inexpensive as it is, what do you expect?

This tank's price is a steal, especially since it has the undergravel filter and air tube/pump included, which makes it great for not only bettas but other fish that need oxygen circulated through the water as well. Though the size does limit the capabilities for decor, it also means you won't run crazy with overspending. Two smaller packs of gravel was all it took to cover the filter, you can add maybe a plant or one piece of decor (depending on the size) and essentially you can have a tank fully decked out. I have yet to keep the light on in the tank for a prolonged period of time so I'm not sure how much it will heat up the water or even if I'll keep the light on much as it's on a table by a lamp. The only partial downside is that the sound of the pump is quite audible. This is in the living room and if there is no other noise (from the TV for example), you can clearly hear it. It's no deal breaker, but just the only thing I can find about it that stands out.

I bought this and this is great for your office or your room. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't have a lot of room for a big tank.

My tank was really great at first but when I got my bottom feeder, it started to get cramped. The tank that I got did not come with a light, but it had plenty of space for you to add one. I would recomend it to any beginners that have only one small fish and little space. Also mine did not come with a heater, so in the winter, it gets really cold. My water tends to get so cold that I have to put something around it so that it keeps warm and insulated. Other than that, I think that as long as you keep only ONE fish in there, you should be fine.

With routine maintenance, this is a fabulous tank

Have enjoyed this tank for several months. Originally used for 6 roudy fathead rosy minnows that were too energetic for my fancy guppies and tetras. Later tried this for 3 dwarf frogs alone. For the last few months have been using is as my nursery for newborn mollies and platys that I brought in from my outdoor patio pond. My routine is every 10-14 days to completely replace with aged water treated with a few drops of Prime and some kosher salt. I've found the salt helps keep disease at bay in all my tanks. I do keep two small terra cotta pots with live plants in there. Even the plants thrive with regular growth that I need to trim back every few weeks. Since converting this to my nursery, I've found that I could keep dozens of babies (30-40 at at time) healthy and routinely put the faster growers back in my pond. I've had to replace the 7 watt bulb once in nearly a year (standard nightlight is all you need). Feeding is easier and less messy if I crumble the flakes in a folded business card and use it as a chute to drop the food in through the opening. This helps prevent flakes from sticking to the side of the opening when dropping in directly. Wish all my tanks were this easy to maintain. Some images uploaded. The ones with all the babies.

I bought this for my betta fish and he seems to like it. Its much bigger than his half gallon he did have. The lights make it much prettier! Im able to fit all my decorations in there. I wasnt able to my last tank. Im missing some parts and about to call Customer Service. It didnt come with a air pump or an undergravel pump.

I bought this tank for my roommate and I so we could get a betta to start out our college life. I was a bit concerned that it would be too small for a betta or it wouldn't filter enough, but it works great for a smaller betta! The filter is just right and really quiet and the light works as both a light and heater. I would recommend cleaning the tank once every one or two weeks, though, because its only an air filter. We got some different gravel and plants, though, to brighten it up. Our betta, Otis, loves it!

Too Small and Dirty

I've had my comet goldfish Shay for about 2 months now. A little while ago, I figured it would be more healthy for her to live in a filtered tank instead of a fishbowl. We got the tank set up pretty easily. A few days later, the tank was a murky green. It stunk up the whole house! Another problem was that it is way too small. My tiny fish could hardly swim! I would not recommend this to anyone.

We've had this tank for about a month and a half now and the bulb has already burnt out. It also seems to encourage algae growth. With it being so small you really cannot put an algae eater in there. It looks nice, but getting to be a pain. I'd recommend the half moon tank instead.

This tank is perfect for any bedroom or desk. In it you can keep a betta fish, an african dwarf frog, and a snail, which is just about perfect. Though it is cheap it is very high quality.

I have had 2 of these. First I had 6 fish in it and now I have 2. When I had 6 fish, it had absolutely no problem handling them. This is a great kids room item and/or start up tank.
