i bought this for a 10 gallen tank. i know it was going to be to big for the tank but that is what i wanted. just like every one else said it makes big bubbles that make big waves for a small tank. what i did is buy a spliter for for air hose that has a value control on it. i put the clam on one splite and just a stone that i hide under the rock on the other side. i then turned down how much air the clam get and it turn out great. it was so worth doing it this way and my tank looks great.

This is a really cute ornament,and is cute when set up in a child's aquarium, but it is made really cheap and not worth $14.99. It is worth more like $7.50.

This is a cute and attractive way to aerate your aquarium. It does not come with tubing or an air pump but luckily I had one. When you put it in your tank, try and angle it down a little. Otherwise, it will lift up very often and that can get annoying. If you angle it right then it will only let bubbles out every 30 seconds instead of every 10. It is a very big piece so if you have a small tank, this is probably not for you. I have a 26 gallon so it is the perfect size. If your were thinking about making it a focal point then this is probably not for you either because the tubing coming from the back would be very noticeable and you would need some long tubing. All in all, I love this product and recommend it to people with bigger tanks.

I just got this for my new aquarium so I would have some decorations and something useful so I could cut costs a little, It is a great product but the bubbles are HUGE! They burst on the top of the water and make rather large waves. I have not added any fish to my tank yet since I just set it up but you can tell it made the water too rough. I rigged mine though, when you open the shell then on the inside back there is a small opening, I placed something in mine that will hold it open. Now the bubbles are small and don't make waves. It is also much quieter now that there is no big bubbles bursting every 30 seconds too. I love it this way, I just wish the makers would have made it with the option of it being open or closed. Hope this helps everyone!

I have a 10 gallon setup with this in the center and a blue broken vase on the front right with a no fishing turtle sign on the back left. Color coordination is fabulous. Bright a fun colors. My mollies and tetras have fun swimming in and out of the mouth of the clam.

I do not use the air pump with this product because it holds too many bubble under the top mouth of the clam, and when the mouth begins to open and let the bubbles out, it causes too big of a disturbance in the water; it moves the water too much like several big waves & the fish do not like that.

Pros: pretty & fish fun

You have to have a strong enough air pump to make this right. What I did was just taking the 2 air outs and had it come together so all the air was just in one tube and that worked pretty well. Pretty easy to clean also, I just use an old toothbrush.
