I can't speak to the current product if it is made any differently. We did; however, purchase this piece around six years ago or so and it is still going strong. The larger algae eaters and things may be at least partially responsible for taking the paint off, but my husband cleans ours very well and we have never had a paint problem. We have also never had any large algae eaters in that tank either. Ours is in a 35 gal. hex tank and it does a great job filling up the space. I recently decided to remove it only to change the decor, but plan on holding on to it in case I change my mind in the future because I really do like it. It is also a great deal compared to other retailers if you can even find anything this size.

I have this item as the centerpiece for my 125. Very Attractive. Everyone likes the look. However as a previous reviewer stated, the bubbles tend to come out of the structure as well as the center. Tweaking the airflow with a gang valve does not prevent the bubbles from "leaking" out of the structure itself. This detracts a liitle bit from the overall effect. This is the only reason I wouldn't give it a 5. Otherwise I would reccomend this item.

After a week my bettas water got milky, when I took it out it was soft like rubber on the bottom. I took it back. DO NOT BUY

I fell in love with this ornament when I discovered it in store. It looked beautiful in my tank. However, a month or so in I noticed paint chips in my gravel and a big section of paint chipping off. I returned it, because my fish were eating it. Do not buy.

This decoration is beautiful when it is 1st purchased. Very elegant. To my dismay, after just a few weeks my ghost shrimp ate huge amounts of the paint off. I had paint chips floating on the surface. It was even leaving a white cloud in the water. I returned it to get another one. The ones in the store already had peeling paint. Petsmart did give me my money back without any problem. I will pick something else.

I don't know who was more entertianed, us or the fish. They were going round and round and round the pillars, untill one fish would change his mind and go the other way, then they would all have to turn around and start all over. They seemed to enjoy it and it looks great

This piece is absolutely striking under halogen bulbs. With its airstone placed in the center allowing a serene plume of bubbles to wind their way to the surface, it is a scene out of a Bob Ross painting. The only negative I have seen so sar is the paint is starting to disappear from some areas. I have a pair of kissing Gourami and six snails sharing space in the same aquarium with this piece so I am not sure if they are responsible for any of that. You have to have a LARGE aquarium though to be able to house this sucker cuz it is quite tall.

Put some WOW in my tank :)

I loved this product !! Beautiful and just eloquent . The pic dose not do it justice !!! I have a 55 gal and got 2 . When I put them in the tank it took my breath , the bubbles coming out of the greenery on the inside, with a light on them WOW ,Definitely not for a small tank ,or 10 gal. It is very large, even my biggest fish (8 in long) easily swims in and out with no problems :) The only problems I had was that my algae eater (sucker fish ) love them so much he wouldn't stay off of them and he took the paint off in spots but he has been relocated to another tank ;) I would recommend them to any one to add touch of elegance for your larger tank :)
