I was looking through products for when I got my new puppy and decided on this because it covered such a large range of intestinal worms. It works extremely well when she has worms already. I've never had the problems with stomach upset, like with other products. She doesn't seem to have a problem at all with the taste, either!
Pros: easy to administer, works great

One day I noticed my dog hadn't been eating her food. She was losing weight and not herself. She got worse just in a matter of days. She is an outside dog. We always deworm our dog so I really didn't know what was wrong with her. Brought her inside and it got to the point where all she would do was lay down and she's a very active dog. I thought she wasn't going to make it. Called the vet and he recommended Safe Guard 4. Most dewormers only treat tapeworms, roundworms, and hookworms. Couldn't find any other for whipworms. After just two days of using this product my dog was pretty much back to herself. Safe Guard 4 saved her life and I now make sure I give her this kind of dewormer twice a year. Haven't had this problem since. She is healthy and happy. Absolutely recommend only this product for a dewormer.

We had rescued a golden retreiver from the local humane society and also her worms :( We were told she was treated by the local vet and cured, but she had given worms to our house dog. I bought two different sizes sm & large breed. They both took the powder over their food, or treats by the 3rd day, inside dog is pretty smart and hates medicine, and it took care of the worms. Months later, both dogs had to get updated on yearly shots and all stools were wormfree!!! Definately worth the money and no vet visit!!!

Our 9 month old puppy continued having worms even after being de-wormed by the vet and taking the broad spectrum de-wormer that was prescribed. After seeing the affordable price and outstanding reviews, I decided to give this product a try. I mixed the powder with her favorite wet dog food, and she licked the bowl clean. After the second day of use, her stool looked normal and it's been about a week since her last dose, worms are gone! There weren't any side-effects and this product works! HIGHLY recommend it!

While pet owners can see evidence of tapeworm and roundworm, whipworm and hookworm are not visible to the human eye. And very often, microscopic examination can also miss visualization of the parasitic eggs of hookworm and whipworm.
Most dewormers treat tapeworm and roundworm. Only Safe Guard treats all four parasites. Whipworm and hookworm are two of the worst parasites. And like I said, they are not visible in the stool of the dog.
Many canine health conditions can be attributed to intestinal parasites, including what seem to be allergies.
Safe Guard eliminates parasites and is not harmful to your pet.
I treat my Chihuahua every year as a preventative. If you have a dog which spends a lot of time outdoors or at parks, treat twice a year.
Pros: works great, price, easy to administer

I tried this twice on my dog and it did not work. It was a waste of time and a waste of money. I thought maybe she had a bad case of worms which is why we tried it again, but of course it didn't work. I followed the directions exactly. I am writing this review to let others know they should try something else!!
Cons: didn't work

I needed a dewormer for my 9lb puppy after noticing tapeworm segments on his rear. I'd HATE to waste $ by getting the smaller package and also have a 25lb dog that MAY eventually need it, too. I purchased the large dog box for $22+ tax and measured 1 of the packets. For one, I thought it was going to be a liquid for some reason. Since I was going to be splitting the packet into 4ths for the small dog, the powder was a MIRACLE!! Anyway, 1/4ts = just about 1oz give or take a little bit. If you have smaller dogs and need to deworm them all at the same time you'd save a bit of $ by getting the large dog dosages and splitting it up appropriately. For the $10 more large dog box of dewormer I have 1gram left of the 1 envelope and 2 more envelopes left in case I need it. So far I haven't noticed him scooching his rear or any tapeworm segments since giving him the dewormer so 5*'s from me!
Pros: powder! (i thought it was going to be a liquid)

I bought this product this past Wednesday and it didn't take that long for the worms to disappear. I'm a new owner of a Min Pin and she had a worm issue when we brought her home. At first used another worm medicine but that didn't work so I read the reviews on this site and went to Petsmart and within the second day I didn't see the worms anymore. I would definitely recommend this product to my friends.
Pros: works fast
Cons: dog didn't like the taste

The first time my dogs got worms, I took them to the vet. The vet ran expensive tests that just confirmed what I thought (they had worms).
Recently, they were showing the same symptoms. Rather than spend money at the vet running expensive tests for what I suspected was worms again, I wanted to try a dewormer. I was hesitant about safety, but I didn't find any negative reviews.
My dogs aren't picky eaters, and they ate the medicine right along with their food. Within a day of beginning this medication, my dogs were better. There were no adverse side effects, and the medicine did what was promised. Just follow the weight guidelines on the back. Compared to an expensive vet visit, this product did the trick!

The dog I have been watching was having daily BMs in the house, despite previously being housetrained. I suspected worms, but could not find any evidence. When she started to have yellowish stools, I did a google search and found she likely had whipworms. Found that they sold SafeGuard at Petsmart. Print out the online price and take it in the store and they will price match it. Find the right dose for your dog's weight, and mix one packet with their moist ( or slighty moist dry food) once a day for 3 days. It worked great. Whipworms are resilent things and will live in the environment for 5 years. You need to keep treating your dog every 3-6 months with a 3 day regimen. This is the only over -the - counter ( not through the vet) treatment I could find for whipworm.
Pros: they eat it it works

My husband and I recently adopted a 4 yr old spaniel from the local humane society.About a month and a half after we got her we noticed tapeworms in her feces.Naturally we were both worried because tapeworms generally have to get taken care of by a vet.We searched on the internet for a cure for tapeworms, and found this product. It's a white powder that you mix into your dog's food for 3 consecutive days. After the second dosage she no longer had the tapeworms. You can imagine our relief when we realized we didn't have to spend a ridiculous amount of money at the vet.I read some other reviews and some people said it made their dog excrete almost all worms.I did not have this issue with my dog, but all animals are different, and she didn't have an infestation of the parasite, but it was noticeable. Some people said it didn't work on their dog, but again, every animal inflicted with parasites is a different case.It did work on my dog, but as I said we began treatment as soon as we noticed it.I think it really depends on your dog and and the severity of the parasite.I do recommend using this product before seeing a vet just to make sure you exhaust all options before having to pay a large amount of money.I will be using this product every 6 months like recommended to ensure the safety and health of our dog.

I bought this product after noticing that my dog had what looked like grains of white rice in her stool. After mixing this with wet dog food, it cleared up the problem. I would recommend this product to anyone whose dog has worms. It's inexpensive and effective.

My puppy had worms for the first time here at his new home. I went to petsmart and picked this stuff up and my puppy stopped scooting the next day. At first after the initial dose he pooped out a lot of woms but by the second day he was pooping out significantly less and was much more playful. It's like it cleared out his system in the first 24 hours. I reccommend this productfor any pup with worms.

This product is a powder and you have to give it for three days. I did it and my dog was still scooting. I took my dog to the Vet and he said my dog had Tapeworms. He gave my dog Drontal at it worked.

I find even with the flea and tick preventatives (eg: sentinel), my dogs are always getting tapeworms (caused by ingesting a flea). Bringing the dog to the vet to get a dewormer from them costs $35.00 (plus the cost of seeing the vet) but I can get this product at Petsmart and it works just as well, but works faster and costs less. The fact is, this product works great, takes less time than a vet prescribed product and is cheaper - what more could you want. I highly recommend this product.
To make administration easier, I procured a needle- less syringe and put the dewormer powder and a few drops of water in it. I shake the mixture up and insert the syringe into the dogs mouth and squeeze.
