I have tried most of the running water fountains for my cat and this is the only one that I find to be the easiest on me as well as the cat. Cleaning it has never been easier. You do not have all the component parts to clean separately like you have to do on the other fountains, and filling it up is a breeze. I only take the dome to the sink and that's it. I don't have to lug out a pitcher or use cup after cup after cup to fill it. My cat loves it. He even stopped drinking out of the sink...and that is a lot because he has been drinking out of the sink since he was born (over 8 years ago now). I will never use anything else.

What a fantastic fountain! I love it because it is so easy to clean. The cats love it because they get fresh water. Having nine cats, it is very hard to constantly have a clean water dish that is full. This product more than pays for itself. I was having trouble with some cats not drinking enough water and having UTI's. This product has helped eliminate their UTI's. The filter collects their hair and other stuff that gets mixed in with their water thus giving them fresh clean water. Some of the cats enjoy licking the dome and others drink from the bowl. I sometimes have two cats drinking at the same time. I purchased another one of these fountains for the upstairs since I was so impressed.

My cat will not drink standing water. I used to keep a faucet running 24/7 in the bathroom sink just so she could have fresh water. I've tried other expensive cat drinking products and this is the first and only one that she will drink from. The bathroom faucet is now turned off. Once a week I wash the dome, the fountain base and fill the dome with water. She actually drinks water now. I love it and so does she. It's the best $40 I ever spent on my cat.

Have owned one for over 5 years. Easy to maintain and all of my 6 cats love it! I enjoy having to refill it every couple days and washing / changing filters every couple weeks. It is almost like watching a water wall as the water flows down the dome into the actual bowl.
Pros: durable, Slide Resistant, Spillproof

Each of my cats likes a different fountain (we rotate them as we decalcify them) and this is Prissy's favorite. She loves drinking directly by licking the dome and doesn't like the fountains with waterfalls. She even slept by it at times. We've had it for over 6 years. I only rated it a little lower because it's the hardest of the fountains to clean - so many pieces and different surfaces to scrub! At least it's opaque plastic which doesn't show fading too much. It's good that it has a bowl at the front so that if the power goes out there's still water for them to get to.

I love this water bowl,or I should say my cat loves it ,easy to clean ,fill ..just don't loose the spring down the drain like I did.

This fountain has to be taken totally apart and cleaned every other day, or the water is slimy. The filter is a 10cent piece of junk and the fountain makes to much noise.

We love this product. Its very quiet and Tiberius really seems to like it. Since we've had the fountain he hasn't jumped in the sink :-) Set up was pretty easy and cleaning is a breeze.

My cat thinks this is the best toy. We have had it over a year and he plays in it and drinks the water too. I have to fill it several times a week because he drinks so much. It is not hard to clean. Everything comes apart and it only take about 10 minutes or less to take it apart, wash everything in soapy water, rinse, dry, and reassemble. I use filtered city water in it and it stays pretty clean but twice a week is a good timetable for a scrub. It is very quiet but you know when it is time to clean because it will get louder when it gets low on water. We give it 5 paws!

Technically we have the dog drinking fountain, but the guy at the pet store said they were the same thing just different colours. Our little kitty is perfectly happy drinking from here, even though at first I thought it might frighten her. And as an added bonus, it adds some humidity to the apartment during winter! We only use filtered (Brita) water in it so there have been no build-up problems.
The only issue we have with this is the uneven water flow. The water usually only flows down a part of the dome. This is most likely caused by our uneven floor in this old building, but it can make the pump sound like someone slurping soup X 500. Either way, I'm glad we went with this one.

I bought this product about 3 years ago because my kitten wouldn't drink water at all out of stationary water plate. Since I bought it my cat drinks so much water its unlivable. My cat goes do business(size of a 1 tennis ball) and our neighbors cats visit us everyday and use our litter also but they only business (size of 1.5 ping ball) I have to change water every 3rd day because my cat drinks the whole thing.

I had to take my cat to the vet twice because it wasn't drinking enough water as soon as it turned on Cat It I barely keep up with throwing litter away. I would really recommend this product to cats that don't like stationary water plates. You should try it for at least 2 or 3 days but first measure amount of water in the tank to see how much your cats will drink.

This is by far and away the worst cat waterer I have ever owned! It is advertised as whisper quiet, and nothing could be further from the truth. The thing is so loud it kept me awake from a downstairs room on the other side of my home. And calling customer service was no help. They expected me to pay in order to ship it to them to diagnose the problem.
And ease of use is an issue as well. Within days of cleaning and changing water, it becomes slimy and hard to handle. And taking it apart to clean becomes difficult. With all of the little nooks and crannies in the product, unless you power-wash the thing, good luck with hygiene.
My suggestion, stay away from this product at all costs. PetSmart has many good products and I would recommend dozens, but this is not one of them.

First and foremost I gave this product a 2 paw rating because my cats love it. I understand it just might be my fountain that could have been damaged before I brought it. But, am not going to chance it and buy another. My cats love sticking their hand on the dome and "cleaning" their paws. The assembly is pretty easy,except for the contact point that lets out the water. I have to manually let out water every other day. I have tried the way in the manual and water would never trickle out. The water flowing over the dome works wonderfully. The fact there is only a small hole to fill the water doesn't bother me. The filter was fully dirty by the end of week one. I don't advise you to put food in the extra bowl,if you have cats that like to take food out of the bowl. They will drop a kibble or two into the bowl. If you don't tend to the filter right away the water suction holes on the side of the water pump become clogged and then your kitties/dogs don't have any water.Good idea,just not fully thought out. I am going to buy a different water fountain because I can't trust this when I go on vacation.

I was really happy with the idea of this water fountain. I purchased it when I was going to be out of town half the week for a span of a few months and didn't have anyone to take care of my cats. Both cats were initially afraid of the fountain, but loved it after they got used to it, with one always licking off the dome and the other out of the bowl. The dome held a lot of water which I needed b/c both of my cats drink a lot of water (I usually fill it once every two days).
I've had multiple problems with the design, however. First, the filter does come apart as another reviewer mentioned, and I have to clean the pump every 2 days almost to get it unclogged. If I don't clean it, it makes a terribly loud grinding noise. I returned my first fountain because I thought it was defective as periodically, the trigger to realease more water into the bowl portion would "get stuck" or something similar and I would come home/wake up to a soaked floor from overflow. Sometimes it was difficult to get the dome to sit properly on the base and it would cause noise and leaking. The base is very difficult to clean. There are a lot of nooks and cranies for things to get into and I would find myself using toothbrushes, sponges, q-tips and the like to get different parts of the fountain, and still had a few I was never able to completely reach. It just seems like there are an unnecessary amount of grooves and dips and threading in the design.
Over 2 years, hard water has built up and I cannot remove it with anything I've tried (I suspect the type of plastic is the culprit). I've also gone through 3 pumps. The first two I did not realize the extent to which they came apart, so took the blame for them burning out. However, this most recent one I cleaned religiously and it burned out within 6 months. I refuse to spend that much money on the fountain and filters, only to replace the pump twice a year.
The cons definitely outweigh the pros to this fountain. I've ordered a Drinkwell 360 as it looks much easier to clean.

Mostly the filter is the problem. It does not filter the water very well. The white fibers come lose and clog up the pump.Have to take pump apart every few days to clean the pump. Not a very good design!

The hole to fill the resevoir is WAY to small. I can never get the water to spill over the entire dome. I get water all over the place refilling it and then trying to get the water for flow correctly. It always makes a trickling noise like the faucet is dripping. Drives me bananas!
Pros: the filter is a good design.

OK, so I have 1 cat that is a total water fanatic! She thinks the water bowl is a kitty water park! She drinks A LOT of water & makes a mess with traditional self watering containers. She was going to ruin my floor even though I had the bowl on a mat.
I bought this thing thinking that 3 liters was a lot of water & that it would "hold" my 2 cats for at least several days or a week or so. WELL, I have to add water to this thing like 2-3 times PER DAY or else the water level drops too low & the pump starts making noises like it's about to burn out. If I forget to add water before I go to bed I hear it sputtering first thing in the morning all the way upstairs. I can't LEAVE it for a whole day without unplugging it. It's a total pain.
My cats however LOVED it. Both of them. I just can't rely on it for more than about 6-8 hours. I don't know how some reviewers made their water last any longer. I find it odd. Anyway, it's a shame 'cuz the cats thought it was great. But I can't risk forgetting to fill it and if we go away for a weekend or something we have to unplug it.
Cons: ran dry waaay too fast

I have this for my cat and I think it's horrible!!! I hate having to line it up pefectly so the water comes down just so. I have having to replace the filter in it all the time.
I find if the top part is now on perfectly it doesn't flow. And I find it to be ery loud!
On the positive side my cat does like to drink from it (after he got up the nerve to give it a try)

I've owned this product for less than 6 months. It was recommended to me by my mother, who has two small Yorkies.
Let me say that at first it worked fine, as advertised. It seems the quality and durability on this fountain is hit or miss. After a few months of use, the pump began to make a horrendous racket. No amount of cleaning or dome tweaking helped. I also found cleaning the fountain to be annoying, especially the doom. And that little "handle" on top never screwed on properly. And I also discovered that even though I had fountain on top of my clothe-washer it still managed to get a surprisingly amount of gunk in the area with the pump. (What's the point of having a filter if it doesn't, you know, FILTER?)
It's possible the pump was dying. Apparently that happens pretty frequently with these. I could have just bought a replacement pump, but I decided to buy a cheaper Catit fountain instead. The cheaper fountain seemed less likely to get gunk in it and was also easier to disassemble.

I bought this product to encourage my cats to drink more and to keep them from drinking my bath water. It was easy to assemble and worked well but my husband immediately complained about the noise of the pump, which worsened over the next 24 hours. My female cat loved it, but my male cat was afraid of it. I took it back to PetSmart and they gave me a refund with no questions.
