I got this, unsure how or why, but I had it, tried to put it together.. and it failed. It looks easy.. but it's really not. It kept falling apart and made me angrey. I threw it and it broke compleatly. Not even worth the try.

This is an AWESOME cage if your hamsters/gerblies/mice don't chew the only reson there are bad reviews is because there fuzzy friend is bourd so allond as u have toys in there it should go well and even if i do not work out u still have a tank so HAPPY BUYYING

Love the item however I think it's a bit expensive for its quality. My hamster loves it however so my complaints are useless! I was worried he would squeeze through the wiring and he doesnt just climbs all over it I dont know if he likes having the tunnels more or the wiring! The water bottle is a joke! Okay maybe not the bottle itself but the part thats "supposed to hold it on" Its so cheap it wont hold it at all had to get a different one. The wheel is very little and when the hamster (baby teddy bear) trys to run it's back does touch the little part that is in the middle of the wheel but it doesnt seem to mind anymore. I didnt like the wheel being so close to the edge so I moved it along the side of the top. When i first put it together, "baby hammy" didn't like or understand it had to go through the tunnels to get to its food or to its water so he tried to walk along the edges and fell. Don't like that to well so I baught a ramp that snaps onto the edges of one side and reaches the other by ordering a replacement part to a cage so now he can walk freely without going through all that to just drink or just eat. It's very spacious but definatley needs some more tunnels added. The bottom park that connects to the tank (purple part) does not clip on or anything its ONE peice not 2 as it looks in the picture its big enough to ensure a hamster can't get through itbut u can slide it back and forth with ur hand and when u do its still covered. Overall great product hamsters love it. Just needs a ramp, better waterbottle holder and maybe a bigger wheel. The price is a bit much for the adjusting u need to do.

THis product should have been off the shelves a long time ago. For starters this tank topper doesn't even fit on my ten gallon tank as there is a 16 cm gap at least and it's impossible to pet your hamster in this cage. The shelves don't fit on properly and keep popping off, a teddy bear hamster can't even fit in the tubes and the tubes fall off, it's hard to put together ( I never did get it together properly), it's not safe for hamsters as they can easily fall off the edge because of their poor depth perception, the wheel is tiny and there is no room for them to step of the wheel. If you want a chew proof space for a hamster get a 20 gallon tank.

I had a similar product, and that lasted me several years. This one hasn't made it through 6 months.

Putting it together was a pain. Nothing wanted to fit right, and it would often pop apart in the middle of assembly. The shelves don't lock down properly, and too much weight will send them falling. If you don't check them daily and snap them back into place, you'd going to hear a crash in the night and wake up to an unhappy hamster!

The tubes used to climb up onto the shelves don't always stay put and they break easily.

Pros: not very expensive

Cons: difficult assembly, cheap materials, poor quality, falls apart easily

I hat this product. It is so hard to put togather and its cheaply made. its dosnt even fit my 10 gallon tank all the way. The water bottle leaks way to much, it basicly gave my hamster a bath. My hamster seems to like it but what does she know, lol. the good thing about it is that the wires r totally chew proff.

As I read the reviews here, it seems to me that most of the people who love this product have smaller pets like mice and dwarf hamsters. My Bianca also is a dwarf and she LOVES her spacious 2 level home. The top provides a place for her to eat and LOL be messy and the bottom provides lots of room for toys and hide aways. It has all the space of a 10 gallon aquarium of course (in fact double that) and yet provides the ventilation of a more traditional wire cage. I lost a dwarf hamster to what I believe was a lack of ventilation when I tried to keep her in a regular aquarium with only a wire top, so that last issue is very important to me.

The cage IS rather hard to clean, but because there is so much space and only my one little B there is not a need to clean it as often as you'd have to clean a smaller cage. B also prefers to be on her own most of the time, so though she is quite gentle for a dwarf she does not need to come out every day.

If you have kids and a bigger hamster (like a teddy or a panda), this may not be the cage for you, but if you have one or two little dwarfs (or mice), I think, personally, there is no better product. It has held up well, and I believe is adding to my Bianca's life span because she has so much room to run around and such cozy places to hide. I do suggest getting a different wheel. The wheel is kind of cheap:P

Please Do NOT Buy this product.

1. It Took a long time to even put it together, i had to throw away the dish,the water bottle and the wheel.

2. When it cleaning time, i can promise you, you will forever dread cleaning time.

3. The plastic tubes hardly stay on and the platforms don't either.
4. You actually want to play with Ham, you have to take off the whole top, and the accesories that are on the platforms.

I Would never recommend this product to anyone! who has children.

But.. I would recommend the Habitrail oVO that i'm going to buy this weekend.

Pros: ... nice design?

Cons: cheap, hard to get hammy out, hard to clean, dont get me started

I got this for Christmas along with 2 dwarf hamsters and a 10 gallon tank. They love it! The wheel gives them hours of entertainment. They tend to fall off the highrise quite a few times. The wheel has a little squeak but nothing vasaline can't fix! A little hard to assemble. The tubes are big enough for both hamsters to go past eachother. Highly recommended!

I bought this for my mousie Ginger, and she seems to really like it. I like the materials and the no-tool assembly, but I'm not so sure i love the design. The added space is great on top of the tank, but it makes it a little hard to get to her when she is at the bottom. Besides that, it is awesome, it gives her so much more space, I think its too big for just one mouse, so we'll have to her a little friend.

I really like this tank topper.
I bought it for my gerbils and they seem to love it.
I wanted to have a wheel and water bottle in their tank without them burying either one.
My gerbils are very young and actually make a big mess on the shelves pretty much daily. That's why I have to clean them at least once a week. Cleaning is easy once you figure out your routine. I just put both shelves (and every once in a while the tubes too) and their plastic wheels and food bowls in a bowl with hot water with mild soap and soak them for a few minutes... then rinse and dry (leave tubes to dry for a few hours)... and put everything back in.

I admit... the wheel that comes with it is useless but the cage is great!

We were amazed when we saw this in the store -- mice can go straight up tubes? Obviously, we were new to the world of mice.
This is adorable. It comes in different colors, like purple. Ours is green. Our mice do make a lot of noise running in their wheel. You do have to clean the upper story a lot unless you put bedding there.
But it gives the mice so much more room. We feel they should make the same thing in a bigger size, for a 20-gallon acquarium. Also, we feel they should make the high rise so other highrises could be added to expand the living space even more, and probably could work on ease of access for cleaning.
When the tank has to be cleaned, it is a little awkward to pull off the high rise because of the tubes hanging down. If the unit were built with easily removed tubes, that would be good. That would give a chance to wash them, and the high rise could be set flat on a surface. However, the high rise can just be laid on its side.
Also, it would be nice if the highrise had places where more tubes could be connected, maybe to go around the cage or to connect to another living space. I just never think animals have enough room in which to roam.
But other than all of that, we love the product. And our mice do, too.

i bought this product for my 2 gerbils and on the box this product says that it fits on a 10 gallon tank,but when i put it on my tank there was a 2-3 maybe 4 inch overlap and one night my gerbils got out , it was also not that sturdy. it was also hard to get the gerbils out to play with them or clean the cage. so now i just have a 25 gallon aquarium with a homemade lid

This product is HORRIBLE. It is very cheaply made and the shelves are lobsided. It dosent fit well on a 10 gallon tank and moves back and forth. The wires get bent easily and the tubes dont stay put.

It was nearly impossible to put together. It does not fit on my 10 gallon tank very well. The bars and cheap and bendable. The wheel is not functional whatsoever for a Teddy Bear hamster. My hamster falls from the shelves. She barely fits up the tiny connecters. There is a picture of a Teddy Bear hamster on the box, but I would not reccomend buying this for one. In fact I would not reccomend buying this at all...It's cheaply made and a bad idea in the first place. I would really not advice purchasing this cage topper.

The product does not fit together well. The sleves do not stay in place leaving a gap between the tank and shelf. The shelves are not very big and are basically functionless. Liked the tubes though.

If you want a high-rise this is not the one to get. There are two different kinds. This one with the plastic and another one that is all wire. The all wire one is from the other leading pet conpany.

THE PLASTIC ONE: Although cuter this high-rise is horrible. I bought this product for my 2 gerbils. , it was nice. *BUT* I had the product about 2 WEEKS. My gerbils chewed through the plastic of the platforms. It is now all misshaped and wables. They also chewed where the tubes connect so badly that the tubes won't connect anymore they just fall out.

THE WIRE ONE: A little more expensive but worth it. It has an extra shelf and is chew proof. The first thing my gerbils did when I put this one on is start chewing on it just like they did with the plasic one, HOWEVER, this one can handle it. If your going to get a high rise this is the one to get.

I just bought this and tried to put it together, but it is cheap quality. The shelves do not stay in place. When you put the shelves in you have to push the shelf up to the top bar to make it stay in place. I didn't even try to finish putting it together. It is a horrible product, don't buy.

great product but...................... its just not big enuf for a hamster that love to exersize so yesterday i went to petsmart to buy a second one i know all of you guys wont to know what i did............ i took the top off the first one and cunected the second one to it wich was a little hard to do but it was worth the strenght and it works great now but a little wobale.
