It smells great-- and that's all it does. We used all three doses just to make sure, reapplied after two weeks instead of the recommended month, nothing worked. We won't waste our money again.

I've used other spot on treatments from the top brands & I've never felt good about so many chemicals going onto their skin. This product is the first one the cats haven't immediately complained about despite it's strong spicy smell (it's not a bad smell like other flea/tick products). My cats never go outdoors so I never use the whole tube on one cat to avoid that oily coat problem and I feel they still get the full benefit of flea/tick/mosquito protection.

I bought this after my husband pulled two ticks off of one of our two indoor/outdoor cats. We put this on all four of our cats, two of whom are inside only and were starting to scratch themselves to bleeding. Three days later, my husband combed nearly ten LIVE fleas off one of our cats, and two or three live ones off of another. It was as if we had not applied anything to any of them. The Petsmart we bought it from is thankfully going to refund our money so that we can purchase a product that we KNOW works like it says it does, even if it is more expensive. You get what you pay for, indeed.

The only reason I only gave it a 4 instead of 5 is that although the smell is not unpleasant it took several days before I could pet my cats and cuddle with them without getting covered with the oily residue. It works extremely well getting rid of fleas and they are still flea free after 3 weeks including one new cat to our home who was feral and full of fleas when he joined our family.
Pros: easy to use, effective

The product really does work. We were in the local Petsmart and they did not have any of the flea or tick products we normally buy, we bought this since we figured it couldn't hurt, and itturned out to be fantastic. Killed the fleas immediately. I have no idea what others are saying about the smell-I hate other flea and tick products because it is very chemical in nature. This is peppermint and lemon oil. I guess they prefer the smell of chemicals! LOL Will definitely be purchasing again!

I bought this product because I did not want to put something like Frontline or Advantix on my dog, I wanted to try a natural alternative. Unfortunately, this product did not work at all for my Shiba Inu. I applied as directed but it had no effect on her, the fleas that were on her didn't even seem to notice that there was something applied to her. I really wish this would have worked, I'm not sure why it was so ineffective on her. A side note: if you are concerned about the smell of the oil, Yes, it is strong but it's not a bad smell.

Wish I would have read ALL the reviews before buying this product...AWFUL stuff!!! Oily base that spreads over the cat's fur after spot application, overwhelming smell of cloves and vanilla that does not dissipate for days and becomes quite obnoxious and sickening. Gets on your hands when you pet the cat and hard to remove the lingering odor. Worst of all it just doesn't work, and a week after application my cats are still scratching and biting themselves. Although it seems "reasonably priced", it's a waste of money in the end. (Glad I only bought one box to see how it worked...the third tube is going in the garbage).

Please don't waste your money or time! Does not work at all. I don't understand why some many people are upset about the smell, it is the only good thing about this product, minty fresh. Applied twice to my cat and still there are fleas!

When I found this I was excited. Super cheap and really works. Yeah, there is a smell and a residue... But I mean its peppermint OIL-- and its not like it smells bad. It smells like peppermint. I'm tired of all the bad reviews of this product. My cat's fleas were completely gone within a week and this lasted literally a whole month! Its perfect and so far its the only flea product I've used that actually works.

I used this on my cat as directed on the instructions about 3 weeks ago after putting another one of this capsules 2 week after, but nothing. This products doesn't work at all.

I tried this product on three kittens. One had already had a severe allergic reaction to a Hartz flea collar and then a Sergeants spray, so it has to be something natural for her. They are all outdoor cats and had lots of fleas.
The product works. Initially it is oily on the cat's neck. But within two days the oiliness goes away and so do the fleas. You can bathe the cat 24 hours after you put it on to clear away some of the oil from the fur if you need to.
My mother also used it on her cat who was having itching problems from fleas and collars. The cat is much happier now and giving lots of kitty kisses.
Since I put it on kittens, I rubbed it into their necks. Fleas were dropping off dead as I applied the Natural Defense. This is now four days after application and there are only a few fleas left on the kittens. It smelled like peppermint and cloves, so it was not unpleasant. The kittens are happy and so am I.
I recommend this product as a great alternative to the pyrethrins and permethrins usually found in toxic flea killing products.

The product does not work. It does not kill fleas. They just run to the back of the cat. The product has a very strong oder. It also leaves oil on the cats coat that is hard to get off.

I purchased this product because of the price - goes to show; you get what you pay for. Not only did the product not work, but it left an oily residue on my cats fur and the scent was overwhelming. I will NOT use the last two applications. This is the first and last time I purchase this product.

my cat is flipping out because of the scent. she keeps trying to get it off (rolling on the floor, trying to clean by her shoulder blades, trying to run away) i must say i feel the same about the scent, my entire apartment stinks....it doesnt help that i applied the dog brand of this on my dog the same day...its not fun. once her box is finished i dont plan to purchase it again.

I hate the idea of putting poisons on my animals. I was really excited to find this and hoped it would be the answer. This product did not work at all and the smell was so overwhelming that my dog, who used the dog version, would not come near me afterwards she was so upset by it. Like others said, the product left my cat with a greasy area on his back. The price is great but I wont use it again.

This product does not work. I used it on my 3 cats and there was no difference at all. I also used the carpet powder of same brand and it had no effect either. I do not recommend this brand.

My cat had fleas over the summer. I used this product on my cat and saw no difference. Also, this product leaves an oily residue on the cat that is only removed with shampoo. I later tried the flea comb with rubbing alcohol. The flea comb works wonders!
Don't forget to treat your home as well as your cat!
Pros: low price
Cons: doesn't work, leaves an oily residue on the cat

I have three cats that are mainly outdoor cats. Since I have issues with ticks especially deer ticks and I have to treat my cats I wanted to try something natural. I was paying 3 times as much for Frontline from my vets and I hated that I was putting chemicals on my "babies". I saw this at PetSmart and thought I'd try it. I did notice that it was oily and a little much for my smallest cat but I just wiped off the excess about two days after applying. The smell is a little overpowering but it goes down quite a bit after about a week. But needless to say I have not seen a SINGLE tick on any of my cats, no ticks or fleas! With Frontline I was pulling ticks off but with this stuff they never even get near the cats.

I used this product on my cats and it was awfull! The smell was so strong it stunk up my whole house for a week.It also is very oily and messy it ran down the side of my cats neck and everywhere my cats layed down it left oily spots it took two weeks for the oily spots to come off there fur.This product is going back to the store.
