This stuff not only lasts forever, but it saves the environment too since it's made of recycled newspaper! It comes in pellet form - looks just like the pellets you feed small animals. I originally bought this litter only because it was recommended by my veterinarian for the recovery period after front-declawing one of my cats. After over 13 years of going back and forth from traditional litters, both gravelly and sticky icky clumping litter, I have found the winner. I thought this would be a mess since it's made out of newspaper, plus I didn't think the pellets would absorb much, but it really does a great job. I save so much money with this litter because it lasts a little bit longer than the others. The waste is also alot less heavy to pick up because it is not clay-based. My back thanks me when I decide to clean out the whole litter box at once. The extra pellets cats have a tendency to kick out of the litter box are alot easier to sweep up than the gravelly sandy stuff that's usually kicked out from all the other litters on the market. I never thought I would switch litters, especially to this one, but it is definitely a keeper. The most important thing is all 3 of my cats, 2 of which are older than 10 years and used to traditional style litters, have not rejected it and have been using it faithfully for the past 2 years. I'm a customer for life! Five stars all around.

My young bun loves her litter box and doesn't refuse to go in it. She's never wet after stepping in her litter box because of the amazing absorbancy. Unless she suddenly can't use this litter, we will be using this litter for the rest of her life. I recommend this to anyone who has a rabbit.

Cat Wouldn't Use it

My vet recommended this after a surgery so regular litter would not get stuck in the incision site. However, the cat wouldn't use it at all. The chunks were too big for his liking. Ended up giving the rest to a friend for their cat that was also having surgery.

I bought this because I knew that it would be healthier for my cat and family and better for the environment. My cat is male, 19 years of age, domestic short hair. I filled the litter box with it and he would not go near it. I did not blame him as the pellets are very large and very hard. Much larger and harder than I expected. I then tried to mix a little in with his usual litter. He still would not go near it. After doing some research and reading that this does not clump or provide any kind of odor control I decided that it wasn’t worth the patience and effort to force my cat to get accustomed to it. I really wanted it to be my solution to clay litter but it ended up being a bigger problem. If you have a kitten and don’t mind emptying the entire litter box each time you need to clean it, I say give it a try. For my senior guy, it just wasn’t realistic.

I buy yesterdays new because I have 17 ferrets. I love this litter. The unscented is very good for ferrets and cats. It's easy to scoop and very absorbant. Leaves no mess and if you have multiple cats adn small animals that can not use regular Cat litter -I highly recommend this product. I buy 5 bags a week for 17 ferrets.
Pros: low dust, easy to clean

I tried another litter for my rabbit & he refused to use it. I put this in his box & within 1 minute he was in the box using it. LOVE the absorption and I have absolutely no odor, which I was shocked. I Highly recommend to anyone with a cat or rabbit.

Good Litter With Few Exceptions

I used this little for my ferret and it is very absorbent, controls some odor, and dust-free. My only problem is how it breaks apart when it absorbs something, so when I clean it, pieces fall tend to fall apart and when they dry up, seem to create dust. Odor control in general is great, but if not cleaned daily, will have a clay smell to it. I love how it is all natural with newspapers. Everything seems dust free, except the bottom, and besides the pieces falling apart, etc., I think it is a great litter for ferrets as well.
Price is reasonable. However, PetSmart seems to only sell the larger size of bag.

used this when one of the cats was declawed (have 3 indoor cats) they all used the litter box with it in it. Amazing no smell at all, now looking to see about buying this long term so long as it keeps working like it has, hoping they dont change the formula of how it is made

I use this for my maltese dog. He is house trained to go in a litter box. I love it. It does not track all over the house. He can go in the middle of the night and does not have to be taken out. Great for someone living in a small condo with no yard. This and him have made my life so wonderful. Great stuff.

It's great for stopping the litter tracking everywhere, but it isn't good for odor control. The clumping-type litter, like Fresh Step, works WAY better for that. I'm grappling with whether I want to deal with tracking or odor...

I used to really love this product. I'd use it for my Guinea Pig all the time! It absorbs well, and doesn't leave dust everywhere.
Yet it gets really expensive. So I've switched to a generic brand that's like it, and it works better :\

A big thanks to my vet for introducing this to me!

As many others have mentioned, my vet gave me a small bag of this litter after my kitten was front declawed. After many months of trying to find the perfect litter, this one has finally made me happy! I've tried non-clumping and clumping litters. I hated the way the leading brand clumping formulas made my kitten smell and sometimes I could even taste the "fresh scent," when I kissed her, ick! Also, not a fan of the leading brand non-clumping or any other clay litter because of the dust, dust and more dust!!! I could barely clean out the litter box without choking on dust. I considered buying worlds best, but couldn't bring myself to pay big bucks for a small bag that would only fill my jumbo litter pan about 1/4 of the way. Ergo I was super excited when the vet gave me a trial bag of yesterday's news to use after my kitten's declawing, and I lOVED IT!!!! Goodbye dust, hello safe and natural.
So heres the scoop on yesterday's news. I have to keep the litter box in my room (small apt) and I cant smell a thing with regular cleaning (esp. no more nasty "fresh scents")! And when I say regular, I mean like once every 5 or so days because in reality, most people just cant do an everyday cleaning. While some of the more fresher poopies don't become rock hard before I clean them, they don't smear all over the scooper either so A+ for absorbency. The pellets are slightly harder to sift, but worth it. Another thing to note: YES this is NOT a clumping litter, so don't expect the litter to just hand you the urine but if your pet is anything like mine, they urinate in the same general spots so all I do is scoop out the soggy pellets without shaking the sifter (sacrifice a few fresh pellets for the greater good) and add a little more litter to the pan. It is WAY easier to remove the soggy pellets than wet non-clumping clay litter, and with clumping clay litter, you would have to add more litter to the pan anyways after removing all of the rock hard cement from the pan so same difference. Finally, lets talk about the price!! LOVE IT! Instead of breaking my back on a $15, 31 lb box of clumping litter, which is so dense that it takes nearly the whole box to cover my pan, I can skip out of the store for half the price, half the weight litter that will last just as long and is safer for my kitten and me.

I have 2 kitten siblings 7 months old that just got spayed/neutered. Needed a different litter for post-op and picked this up. I mainly use Arm&Hammerr for multiple cats or the crystal kind. I'm very impressed by this litter. As long as you keep it shallow enough it's not hard to clean the urine. It does "clump" oddly around the feces but I haven't noticed any odor, even when it's "fresh"! ha! My cats have adjusted to it nicely and I don't have all that stray litter on my tile floors! It's paper and non-toxic, so I'm pretty sure I'll be switching to this permanently.

I had been running back and forth to the vet for the first 6 months I had my Siamese kitten. She kept getting upper respiratory infections and would just finish up a round of antibiotics and it would start all over again! Eyes running, green snot bubbles...it made me cry to look at her. I thought I was going to have to have her put to sleep. My last visit to the vet to make this decision, he said, as we were ruling everything else out, "I want you to try 'Yesterday's New'." That was 7 years ago! I have used nothing else but Yesterday's News! Both of my kitties thrive on it and neither have had a respiratory problem since!! It was literally a "life saver" for both me and my Siamese Skye!

I have one cat who is about 10 years old and he leaves an awful smell so bad with all the other clay based litters. I also have a son, who thought it was a sand box. I just switched my litter to yesturday's News about a weekago and I don't smell any odor at all. no litter pieces have made its way out of the box yet. My son hasn't even tried to get into it either.

I used this for my guinea pig for awhile.
But then I found a different version that was less dusty, came in bulk, looked nicer, wasn't shiny, was softer, and is seven dollars cheaper. I've switched to that, and it works well.

Yesterday's News.....is the BEST news!

I can not say enough great things about this cat litter. After trying various litters over the past nine years, I've finally discovered the best one ever. Yesterday's News was recommended by the vet after front declawing of our cat. It took absolutely no special transition time. Our cat was comfortable with the change right away. No more are the days of horrible litter dust or sweeping up little clay bits from everywhere! YAY! I highly, highly recommend trying Yesterday's News!

I use this for my rats' litter box and it works great. One of my rats has mycrplasma so he has asthma attacks with dusty litters. He hasn't had any problems with Yesterday's News and it is safe for them since it is recycled newspaper and it won't hurt them if they nibble on the occasional piece. Since it comes in a 30lb bag I only have to get it every 6 months or so. I recommend this for all rats owners with sensitive rats.

I Actually Use This For Rats

This litter is great for our rats litter pan. The recycled paper is okay for them if they eat any of it. It is also not at all dusty, which is great for their sensitive respiratory tracts. I suggest it to all rat owners who use litter pans. The pellets are kind of hard, so it wouldn't be great to line the entire cage with.
