Pros: great quality and saves money
Cons: only found in petstores

"My precious little angel came to me after being in a neglectful situation. Her fur was flat looking and matted. I noticed she was very itchy as well. After a month and a half of eating Nutro Max, her coat became very glossy and shinny, and very soft. The itching stopped as well. She prefered eating it over the less expensive store brand food I first bought. I was concerned a bit about cost but have discovered over time that I was actually saving more money with Nutro Max. It has more quality ingridience which requires a smaller serving size and clean up is a little easier as well."

Good option for smaller size dogs, June 18, 2008
by pnchbuggy from NJ

"I love this product. I've been giving my shih tzu nutro max since she was weaned from her mom. I continued with the nutro max for puppies then I gave the next stage after that. She's enjoyed them. However, my shih tzu is on the smaller side..she's only 7lbs 5oz, and she's having a hard time chewing the regular size, that I found this mini size nutro max for her. It's easier for her to chew and helps regulate her bowel movements. She does her business once a day on a regular basis.
I highly recommend this product."

Low low waste, September 26, 2007
by LoriAnn from Milwaukee, WI

"At the recommendation of my nephew we switched to Nutro brand dog food. His dog eats it and he raves about it. We bought a 3 yr old Rat Terrier and the people we got him from gave us his dog food. Some cheap $4 (10 lb bag) stuff from a low end grocery store. We noticed how much he was going to the bathroom (more than 3x's a day). My nephew suggested switching to a better brand of dog food saying it would probably cut down in waste. Well he was right. Yogi (Rat Terrier) now only goes to the bathroom once a day and it's much much smaller than it used to be. And like another reviewer stated much less stinkier. He eats far less of this food than the cheap stuff but the nutrition is much better. It's way worth the extra cost. The vet says he's never seen such a health 5 yr old Rat Terrier in his practice. Since switching to Nutro brand he lost a pound (weighs 14 lbs now) but is much more energetic. I recommend this product 100%."

All the dogs love it., July 15, 2007
by BillWasHere from KCMO area

"Between myself (Lhasa Opsa and a Husky/Shepard/Collie/Pit mix), my parents (2 Yorkies, a Silky with teeth problems, and a Griffin/Silky mix), and my sister (3 Dachshunds), all of the dogs love this food. We switched my parents dogs from Beneful after the Silky had teeth pulled, since he had problems eating the larger bites. All of the other dogs discovered the food, and haven't touched the Beneful since then."

"This is a great dog food for small dogs. I bought this for my maltese named Max. I bought the food for him because of the name then learned how healthy it was for him. He gobbles it down every time."

The Best Stuff..., January 15, 2007
by SledgiesMom from Florida

"My Sledge was the only one from his litter to survive Parvo. After weeks of treatment and thousands of dollars we knew he would be alright, but the only food he could and still can keep down is Nutro Max Mini Chunk in the Pink bag. He's 4 years old now, a Boxer mix and doing great! We love him and his Bullmatian sister. This stuff is great! He gets the best nutrition and is in great shape thanks to Nutro Max!"

"I first heard of this brand of dog food through my puppy classes at PetSmart and I've used it for the last 2 years and my chihuahua has moved from the puppy to the mini and he still loves it! I like that it's healthier than other pet foods and that he actually eats and enjoys it."

I have given this product for a month now., November 17, 2006
by Arturo from Miami, Florida

"This is one of the best food ever. My dog loves it. When we first got him he did not like the food that he was getting at the pet shop when we bought him Nutro Max for puppy he love it. A month ago we got him Nutro Max for adult mini chunk and he love it. Better than the puppy he goes crazy when he get it. Once he ate it too fast that afterwerd he trow up. He still love it. I would never change from the Brand Nutro."

Absolutely the best!!!!!!!, October 1, 2006
by Trinemoon from Plano, TX

"Does your dog's poo stink to high heaven? Does your dog have the runs, or constipated... then please for the sake of your nose and your dog give this product a try.

We own a Pomeranian, who had three litters before she was fixed and all her litters were raised one Neutro-Max after they weaned. It was our mommy pom who had to suffer through the trial and error of finding this brand of dog food. Trust me when I say we bought all the top brands... even trying some we could only get at the vet and she seemed to always have the runs and our backyard STUNK all the the time. Then we found Neutro-Max and have never looked back.

Our pom eats less, so the very slightly higher cost is easily offset... the food seems to be more dense without a lot of fillers. Plus, her poo is now solid, but not hard as a brick and best of all - it does not stink. It was explained to me that because most of the food is absorbed rather than expelled - the difference between Neutro-Max and other brands, is the reason for the waste having very low odor. I guess the extra fillers and preservatives in most dog foods cause upset stomach and since they are not meant to be absorbed and are not useful to the dog, they are expelled and are a major stink factor as far as poo is concerned.

Although our pom is about seven, the vet continues to recommend puppy food to assure max absorption of nutrients and easier digestibility.

BTW, I have a cat who is on the Neutro-Max brand also - I cannot say it has done the same miracles for her as it did for my dog, but she also plays in the backyard - who knows what she eats out there, and she delights in allowing my one year old to drop food to her... my pom knows better than to eat the baby's food - but you know cats... they are not so easy to discipline. Her coat is healthy, she likes her cat food, and she is very energetic - I suspect if I could keep her from supplementing her diet, then her poo would be much less stinky and more consistent - as far as not being runny sometimes or way hard at other times.

So I give Neutro-Max two thumbs up... way up!!"

Beagle Friendly, August 22, 2006
by Autumnl78 from Hampton, VA

"Our
almost 3 year old beagle Trillian was raised on Nutro Puppy and then we
switched to Nutro Adult Mini Size when she turned a year old. She is a
slim and fit active beagle. Thanks to Nutro's great ingridents we take
about 3 weeks to go through an 8lb bag. Her coat is soft and shiny, and
she doesn't have that beagle dandruff you see on most beagles.
My parents beagle, who isn't on Nutro, has a rougher coat and that
beagle dandruff even though they both play together daily and are
usually bathed at the same times.
She loves her food and when given the choice between the food my parents dog eats and her own she chooses her own every time. The biggest treat is when we add some Nutro soft food, or milk with her food as a special your such a great doggy treat.
I attribute her great energy and shiny coat to Nutro and recommend it
to anyone we see at Petsmart who has a new puppy and is cruising around
the dog food isles looking confused as to what to choose. The price is
well worth it."
