Relaxing day at the beach
I have a Jack Russell that is an extreme puller. I felt horrible when I took him anywhere because he was constantly choking himself with a collar or pulling like crazy with a harness. I tried them all! We recently decided to take a beach vacation and wanted to take him along but I dreaded the pulling. I found this harness at Pet Smart and decided to give it a try. It was amazing! It is easy to put on and best of all NO PULLING! We were all able to enjoy our vacation. Thank-you Great Choice for a wonderful product! I will highly recommend it!

I just purchased the Holt Control Harness for my Chocolate Lab and I love it. She still pulled a little but did great with heel and even when we passed another dog she was fantastic. I like that she is no longer choking. I think she loved it to. LOL
Pros: comfortable, looks great, Easy to ControlDog

My husband and I bought this just yesterday at PetSmart.
We were so worn out from our Black Lab mix who just kept dragging us everywhere we went!! So, finally we decided to have her drag us into PetSmart where we looked at choker collars, leads, and then harnesses. We tried each product on and walked her around the store with it, and this harness worked the best!!!
I'm a 5'3" petite sized female and she would literally walk me around...now, she walks with me or a little ahead of me but I can hold her leash with just one hand. We also live in an apartment 3 stories up where we would have to walk her down stairs to take her outside and she would yank us almost to the point where we would fall down the stairs...NOT ANYMORE! :-)
It took her not even a day to adjust to putting a harness on, and walking with us, not dragging. She also doesn't choke herself anymore, so we don't look like inconsiderate, inhumane people when walking her around the neighborhood.
I definitely recommend this to a friend or anyone!!!

I have tried a variety of no-pull harnesses for my 80 pound Golden mix who is impossible to walk on a regular collar/leash. This is the only one that works well. Of course there is still a little pulling (especially if she sees another dog), but with this harness the pulling is minimal and she often self-corrects when she does feel even a little tension on the harness. My only complaint (and the reason for four stars on appearance) is that I wish it came in some pretty colors. The black is fine and does look sleek and stylish, but having the choice of colors would make this an even better choice!
Pros: style fit price it works!
Cons: wish it came in pretty colors

I have a rescue boxer who is not leash trained and this harness is the answer. Being large chested dogs Boxers are hard to fit for harnesses. I've tried other brands like Sporn and the one that clips to the front (cant recall the brand). None have worked well for me on a boxer. The Holt is simple to adjust to fit (read the instructions on where to adjust) and works very well. My rescue is a definitely a heavy puller but the Holt does keep her under control. Does it stop pulling completely? Of course not. No humane halter with do that. However the Holt keeps the pulling into something that is very manageable and will allow you to train your dog not to pull, which is your goal.
The only "con" is that is does take a little time getting use to putting this on the dog, getting the chords lined up for the dog to step into, and making sure you have the up side up.
Pros: low cost, adjustable, will fit a variety of dog shapes and sizes, no stress under the arms, does not choke, reduces pulling

This is amazing! I have a very strong 65lb lab-pit mix. He is very well behaved but our walks were always a work out! We tried everything! The gentle leader harness didn't fit his chest properly, he wouldn't walk for anything in the halti style. So we had to use a slip lead or his regular leash and he would choke himself all the time. We didn't have any high expectations for this product but boy were we surprised. With in 5 minutes there was a different dog walking beside me with a loose lead for the entire walk. We couldn't be happier!!!
Pros: doesn't hurt, stops all pulling, walks are easy

I purchased this product for my out of control australian shepherd. It was a little hard to adjust at the beginning, but when we got outside it worked great! It took a little bit to get used to, but every time she started pulling, I gave a gentle tug and she came right back. This is a great product that I would recommend to anyone with a dog that pulls, no matter what size.
Pros: durable, works well, fits well
Cons: none

I have a 90-lb Akita Shar-pei mix. She is older now and easier to handle, but I have used the Holt harness for years. She used to pull and it seemed no amount of training would help. I didn't like using a choke collar although I did use one on her early on. I found the Holt and it did cut back on her pulling. I've used the first one for about 6 years. We still have it but I got her a new one a couple of years ago since the cloth protective cover at the chest junction had frayed. We use the old one when she has a kennel stay.
My dog learned quickly how to step into the harness so she could go for a walk. She knows if I say we have to get on our gear that we'll be going out. I have never noticed any chafing from it, since the harness is thick cord there are no sharp edges to cut or irritate. It looks nice on dogs, not fancy just streamlined and sporty.

I have a Husky and we were not able to walk her because she pulled so much. We tried choker collars and she would just let it choke her, which we did not like so we stopped using them. We have tried other harnesses in the past that have not worked either.
Recently I went to get her a new collar and saw a lady in the store walking her huge dog and the dog was walking great. I stopped her to asked her what harness she used and she showed me and I bought it.
When I brought it home I was still doubtful so I had my husband walk her with it first and to our surprise she was walking right beside him with no pulling. We are all able to now walk my dog including my youngest daughter who my dog used to drag on the ground whenever she tried to walk her. I would recommend this product to everyone who has a dog that is always pulling.

I initially bought the Four Paws No-Pull trainer for our two year old boxer who typically pulls hard on a leash. It was very hard to use and caused very bad chaffing under my dogs' armpits causing her to bleed.
I decided to use the Holt Control Harness and am much more satisfied with the quality of the material,(thicker nylon rope and steel hardware as opposed to plastic) it’s effectiveness on controlling the dog and the ease of use. Also, the fact that it doesn’t hurt my dog makes the Holt harness a far superior product to the Four Paws No-Pull trainer.
Pros: very good price

I trained my families two dogs (one is an Akita mix, the other border collie mix) and both were pulling machines- tried the halit (one that goes around the face) and they refused to go anywhere with them on, then i found this and the pulling reduced by 90% on the first walk! i got my own puppy and when she also started to pull (6 months old now) i got it and it worked again! though now the family dogs are up around Detroit and the squirrels are tempting them to pull a bit more but i totally recommend it!
Pros: puppies can grow into it

This is a great product. And given that it is inexpensive, I highly recommend it. My Boxer can be a handful on a normal lead. In fact, it can be quite an upper body workout... and that's a hard task given that I work out often. But even I needed some assistance and this lead helped alot. A simple tug will shift the dog's entire upper body. And when the dog darts off, you won't feel as bad when the dog snap him/her back by the upper body than the neck (a normal neck lead). Great product! The only downside side is the initial training of the dog to get the harness on. It can be difficult and if you have a hyper dog, the task can be daunting. But after you get the dog used to putting it on and wearing it, it's great!

I have a 19 lb. black Pug, even with his sllim body he has some problems with body structure. It was a bit trying when adjusting this harness, BUT! when the adjustment was made I had a new dog. At first he was shy about the new item, can't blame him so was I. Given a few minutes to adjust to this new thingy I proceded to have the most pleasurable walk I ever had with any dog. I have been working with my Buddy to no avail until now. I experienced a 75% improvement on our first walk. He is walking by my side with a slack leash 90 % of the time and I am in heaven. Give this item its just time to get used to, and it will be fine, to think I was ready to take it back in the first 5 minutes. One more thing It is now called the HOLT CONTROL HARNESS with a beautiful Boxer on the front so don't get confused when you get it. Good luck and happy wallking with your new friend.

We have a 78 pound yellow lab and she would pull my daughter and I all over the neighborhood. The minute my daughter put this on her, no more pulling. If I don't feel like putting it on her and just use the leash with her collar, she drags me all over. From now on, this is the only thing we'll use.

I have a 50lb. pit/lab mix, and this product has made walks easy! Prior to using this, walks were dreadful because I had no control; he would pull so hard I was literally running! I know how much he loves walks, and it was so hard to keep up; he would choke himself because he pulled so hard; I didn't know what else to do. This product had alot of good reviews, and similar to my experience. After putting it on him for the first time, I noticed an INSTANT feeling of control! The entire walk I kept saying "wow, this product is amazing!" I didn't feel embarrassed at all, because I was ablet to walk at MY PACE! The best thing is, he didn't choke once! He tried to pull fast, but it's like an automatic force causing him NOT to pull. This is the best thing, and now we BOTH look forward to walks! I need to buy a shorter leash though, because there's extra slack. Make sure it's not loose, or your dog might get his legs out of it.

I have a 45 lb pit bull and lab mix. She is a great dog, but LOVES to lead me during walks, and ends up choking herself in the process. I bought this harness after reading reviews on several products, and I instantly see a difference! She is much easier to control and no longer tries to pull in front of me. She did still get excited when a squirrel ran out in front of us, but instead of choking herself trying to get the squirrel, I was able to pull on the leash and keep her on the sidewalk much easier than before. I highly recommend this product for anyone with a strong dog who loves to lead on walks! As for quality, this is the same material as the lead/leash I use everyday, and it has held up very well, so I see no problem with this harness falling apart anytime soon!

Like most I had a difficult time understanding how to put this harness on to the point I had to take it to my local Petsmart Store with my Puppy!!' Here you go with some easy to understand directions: 1. Hold the main portion of the harness in your left hand and hold the end portion of the harness that attaches to the lead in your right hand. 2. VERY IMPORTANT>>Make the two loops as large as possible and PUT THE DOG'S HEAD THROUGH BOTH LOOPS. The large loop would be first followed by the smaller loop. The smaller loop will be around the dog's head/neck with the large loops hanging down in front of each leg. 3. Take each front leg and put it through the large loop that is on each side (Left and Right) of the dog. DONE!!!
Please let me know if this helps anyone. My puppy/dog (6 Months) actually seems to enjoy this harness and now gives me no problem when I go to put her head through the two(2)loops. GOOD LUCK!!

This is the first harness that actually fits my mixed breed dog. She's shaped so that Medium is too small around her torso but Large is too big in front of her shoulders. Because this harness is essentially one piece adjustable from front to back, it's the first harness that actually fits her just right. Hasn't made a difference in her pulling, but it's perfect for a "hard to fit" pooch. Slight learning curve getting used to putting it on, but well worth it to finally have a "custom fit" harness. Really should be marketed for that rather than "no-tug".
