My wolf hybrid, Stella, is 60 pounds and growing! This harness worked like a dream. She is only 7.5months, and is, of course, very excitable. This harness stopped her from pulling. It made our walks much more enjoyable. I loved that it didn't chafe underneath her arms and fit her perfectly.
Pros: comfortable, durable, looks great, Easy to ControlDog

Have used Holt harness for years and it's by far the best in the business. News flash: I've put harness in washing machine with tags attached, added bleach, air dried and it comes out like new. Roxy knows how to step into it each time we go out. Secure, light and worked well on my mom's dog who would get out of her other harness and roam neighborhood for days. No need to look for any other product.

Relaxing day at the beach
I have a Jack Russell that is an extreme puller. I felt horrible when I took him anywhere because he was constantly choking himself with a collar or pulling like crazy with a harness. I tried them all! We recently decided to take a beach vacation and wanted to take him along but I dreaded the pulling. I found this harness at Pet Smart and decided to give it a try. It was amazing! It is easy to put on and best of all NO PULLING! We were all able to enjoy our vacation. Thank-you Great Choice for a wonderful product! I will highly recommend it!

I just purchased the Holt Control Harness for my Chocolate Lab and I love it. She still pulled a little but did great with heel and even when we passed another dog she was fantastic. I like that she is no longer choking. I think she loved it to. LOL

Our new dog Lilly, had a slight pulling problem. She has been ill and the veterinarian wasn't quite sure what it was at first. She told us not to walk her by her collar as it may trigger her coughing spazms, sowe went the same night to get a mesh harness. The on we looked at, they were out of stock in her size. Although, we tried this one on. I LOVE IT! It has miniscule contact with het neck/throat area. It doesn't stop her pulling completely, but I can give her clearer corrections. I can also pull her up by her leash if she goes after another dog, or vise versa. (Note: 9 lb. dog) THANK YOU PETSMART!!!

Cally
I mainly purchases this harness because with a conventional collar, my small dog, Cally, would pull so hard that she would go into coughing fits. With this harness, she still pulls, but I don't have the worry about the harm to her throat or the coughing. It also is cooler in the summer for her than the other kinds of harness you see on the market that have a lot of fabric that cover the chest area.

I have a 65 lbs. boxer who pulls very hard. This harness works pretty well, but not perfect. He still pulls sometimes, but nothing like he does with only the collar and leash. I have owned the harness for about a year now.
PROS: Most importantly pulling is down to minimum. Does not rub armpits raw on my short hair boxer. Easy to put on. Doesn't seem to hurt the dog, just makes him uncomfortable when he pulls.
CONS: There is some minor fraying where the rope threads through one of the bottom front loops. My dog has backed out of it once, but it is easy to prevent once you know it can happen.
Bottom line, this harness works very well for my dog. The rounded rope material is much easier on his sensitive armpit area than the nylon strap material that you find on most harnesses. I took one star off because of the minor fraying, but I will gladly buy the same harness when this one becomes unusable. The only other thing that works this well for his pulling is a dog backpack, but the good ones are upwards of $80 so this harness is an affordable alternative and much cooler for him in the south Florida summers.

I got this harness for my 70lb Boxer male. He was quite the puller and was pretty much out of control. I'm only 5'2" 100lbs so walking him was quite an ordeal. I tried the halti head collar but he hated it and jumped around all over the place making a scene.
This harness has been wonderful. He likes to wear it and has become quite respectful of it. He walks so nicely he's like a different dog it really helps get his attention. Walks are happier for both of us. The halti had more control but this option was better for him.
I'm trying it now on my newly adopted 2yr 50lb pit bull girl. Hopefully it will have good results on her as well as she is quite stubborn and very strong.

My husband and I bought this just yesterday at PetSmart.
We were so worn out from our Black Lab mix who just kept dragging us everywhere we went!! So, finally we decided to have her drag us into PetSmart where we looked at choker collars, leads, and then harnesses. We tried each product on and walked her around the store with it, and this harness worked the best!!!
I'm a 5'3" petite sized female and she would literally walk me around...now, she walks with me or a little ahead of me but I can hold her leash with just one hand. We also live in an apartment 3 stories up where we would have to walk her down stairs to take her outside and she would yank us almost to the point where we would fall down the stairs...NOT ANYMORE! :-)
It took her not even a day to adjust to putting a harness on, and walking with us, not dragging. She also doesn't choke herself anymore, so we don't look like inconsiderate, inhumane people when walking her around the neighborhood.
I definitely recommend this to a friend or anyone!!!

I bought this harness for my 10 month old foster dog. He is about 45lbs and is a pit bull mix. This harness was positively useless and did nothing for his heavy pulling. In the past, I've had great success with my rescue dogs by using the Gentle Leader, but this particular dog needed something else. This harness was not the answer for him.
Pros: your dog will not choke himself, this is a humane training tool
Cons: it does not curb pulling

I have tried a variety of no-pull harnesses for my 80 pound Golden mix who is impossible to walk on a regular collar/leash. This is the only one that works well. Of course there is still a little pulling (especially if she sees another dog), but with this harness the pulling is minimal and she often self-corrects when she does feel even a little tension on the harness. My only complaint (and the reason for four stars on appearance) is that I wish it came in some pretty colors. The black is fine and does look sleek and stylish, but having the choice of colors would make this an even better choice!
Pros: style fit price it works!
Cons: wish it came in pretty colors

I have a rescue boxer who is not leash trained and this harness is the answer. Being large chested dogs Boxers are hard to fit for harnesses. I've tried other brands like Sporn and the one that clips to the front (cant recall the brand). None have worked well for me on a boxer. The Holt is simple to adjust to fit (read the instructions on where to adjust) and works very well. My rescue is a definitely a heavy puller but the Holt does keep her under control. Does it stop pulling completely? Of course not. No humane halter with do that. However the Holt keeps the pulling into something that is very manageable and will allow you to train your dog not to pull, which is your goal.
The only "con" is that is does take a little time getting use to putting this on the dog, getting the chords lined up for the dog to step into, and making sure you have the up side up.
Pros: low cost, adjustable, will fit a variety of dog shapes and sizes, no stress under the arms, does not choke, reduces pulling

This is amazing! I have a very strong 65lb lab-pit mix. He is very well behaved but our walks were always a work out! We tried everything! The gentle leader harness didn't fit his chest properly, he wouldn't walk for anything in the halti style. So we had to use a slip lead or his regular leash and he would choke himself all the time. We didn't have any high expectations for this product but boy were we surprised. With in 5 minutes there was a different dog walking beside me with a loose lead for the entire walk. We couldn't be happier!!!
Pros: doesn't hurt, stops all pulling, walks are easy

Review 16 for Grreat Choice Holt No-Tug Dog Harness
I purchased this product for my out of control australian shepherd. It was a little hard to adjust at the beginning, but when we got outside it worked great! It took a little bit to get used to, but every time she started pulling, I gave a gentle tug and she came right back. This is a great product that I would recommend to anyone with a dog that pulls, no matter what size.
Pros: durable, works well, fits well
Cons: none

I have a 90-lb Akita Shar-pei mix. She is older now and easier to handle, but I have used the Holt harness for years. She used to pull and it seemed no amount of training would help. I didn't like using a choke collar although I did use one on her early on. I found the Holt and it did cut back on her pulling. I've used the first one for about 6 years. We still have it but I got her a new one a couple of years ago since the cloth protective cover at the chest junction had frayed. We use the old one when she has a kennel stay.
My dog learned quickly how to step into the harness so she could go for a walk. She knows if I say we have to get on our gear that we'll be going out. I have never noticed any chafing from it, since the harness is thick cord there are no sharp edges to cut or irritate. It looks nice on dogs, not fancy just streamlined and sporty.

I have a Husky and we were not able to walk her because she pulled so much. We tried choker collars and she would just let it choke her, which we did not like so we stopped using them. We have tried other harnesses in the past that have not worked either.
Recently I went to get her a new collar and saw a lady in the store walking her huge dog and the dog was walking great. I stopped her to asked her what harness she used and she showed me and I bought it.
When I brought it home I was still doubtful so I had my husband walk her with it first and to our surprise she was walking right beside him with no pulling. We are all able to now walk my dog including my youngest daughter who my dog used to drag on the ground whenever she tried to walk her. I would recommend this product to everyone who has a dog that is always pulling.

I initially bought the Four Paws No-Pull trainer for our two year old boxer who typically pulls hard on a leash. It was very hard to use and caused very bad chaffing under my dogs' armpits causing her to bleed.
I decided to use the Holt Control Harness and am much more satisfied with the quality of the material,(thicker nylon rope and steel hardware as opposed to plastic) it’s effectiveness on controlling the dog and the ease of use. Also, the fact that it doesn’t hurt my dog makes the Holt harness a far superior product to the Four Paws No-Pull trainer.
