Top Paw(r) Chrome Prong Training Collar

Prong collars should be put on and taken off before and after daily training sessions. This collar is made of interlocking links, each with two blunt prongs that meet the dog's skin when the collar tightens.

Power Steering For Your Dog, July 11, 2009
by KleeKaiMom from Las Vegas, NV

Pros: easy to put on, durable/strong

"These collars are amazing! We have three Alaskan Klee Kai dogs (look like Huskies) and when they were young they liked to pull and since they were bred originally to pull a sled it came as no surprise they wanted to pull us too! The trainer at Pets Mart recommended the collar and we have used them on all three dogs since they were young. They are all older now and don't need them anymore but any dog owner that needs help controlling their dog(s) while training/leash walking should give this a try!"

Very effective, June 27, 2009
by WNYCoonhound from Buffalo

Pros: strong, lightweight, adjustable
Cons: none

"We have a coonhound that will not stop pulling. This collar is strong, does not rust and keeps him in line for the most part. It works great to stop most of his pulling on a regular walk, but if he sees a rabbit or gopher, no collar is going to stop him. I would recommend it for most (normal) dog owners"

GREAT BUY!!!, May 5, 2009
by JPatIU from South Bend, IN

Pros: adjustable, safe, effective
Cons: scary looking

"We bought this today and it is EXCELLENT!! Don't worry about how scary it looks because it is very safe. We have a German Shepherd who would drag us and almost cut my finger off with her leash. We bought this product and she jumped once, did a short "yelp" (Which broke our heart) but within ten minutes she was walking by our side and doing great on walks. This is a wonderful product... a must buy for leash training and obedience training... Thank you for pinch collars... and trust me they don't hurt, I put it around my arm and pulled and I didn't feel a thing. FIVE STARS!!!!"

Great for training/reminding natural pullers, August 21, 2008
by ChiTownChica from Chicago

"We had previously tried the gentle leader and were very much against the pronged pinch collar. But my 5 month old pitbull/husky mix soon figured out that by putting his nose down and directing with his neck and shoulders, he could pull me wherever he wanted to go. Being a natural puller and strong enough to drag me down the hallway at 5 months, we needed something better. We reluctantly got this pronged collar and now I never walk him without it. He stills leads/pulls at bit at first, I think it's just in his blood. My husband is strong enough to walk him with a regular collar and just tug him back to heel. However, I have had to work with him using this collar to get his attention. Yes, if he continues to pull like when he sees a neighbor dog and does not obey 'sit', it can slightly choke him. But it is not enough to cause him harm, as you can adjust how tight it can close. The real benefit of this collar is to remind stubborn, strong, pulling dogs of their training to heel!"
