Grreat Choice Control Ease Head Collar

The basic principle behind this head collar is simple enough: control your dog's head and the body will follow. And, as an added bonus, little or no physical force or strength is needed to attain higher levels of control. Made exclusively for PetSmart.

My vet put this on my dog. He said he wasn't sure is was going to work. He said compared to others, it looked cheap. Well he was right. A few swipes from her paw, and it was off.

I have an energetic 2-year-old cattle dog I am training. I had first tried a more popular brand (G.L.) but it rubbed some of the hair off of the top of her muzzle just below her eyes. I like the "Control Ease collar" by Halti because it has soft material lining the muzzle so the dog is more comfortable. This collar helps to teach her to not pull on the leash. At first she didn't want to wear it, but I worked with her by the reward system, and pretty soon, she was doing fine. I had to be sure to bring treats with me and praise her a lot while teaching her to wear it. After a few weeks of using the Halti, I tried a regular collar, and she had improved considerably so that she wouldn't pull me down the sidewalk anymore. I would definitely recommend this brand of collar for training.
Pros: durable, Easy to ControlDog, comfortable

The Control Ease Head Collar worked great for our twin Vizsla/Labs. We bought one for our 'crazy' twin & he became the easy walker so we had to buy a matching one for his 'jealous' brother. Our only problem with it was that it was not lose enough to let their mouths be completely open nor tight enough that it would stay on if they swatted at it. It seemed to ride right on their eyes very uncomfortably. We decided to try the next size up, but Petsmart doesn't carry the extra large. I will say that we next tried the Gentle Leader & it was awful. Take your dog to the store so you can physically try it out and walk around the store. If he/she pulls this really is a great product to have.

I bought this head collar for my 6 month old pit/chow/lab puppy. Even with loose leash training he can still get distracted and pull me places I don't want to go. The collar worked OK. It greatly reduced his pulling, but it wasn't very comfortable for him. The narrow nose band kept riding up into his eyes, and it would twist sideways on his face. It was also impossible to adjust correctly. Either the nose band was too tight, and he couldn't fully open his mouth, or it was too loose and he could slip it off. After 3 days of struggling with it I returned it, and got a Holt head collar.
Pros: Easy to ControlDog
Cons: poor quality, not adjustable

I got this on sale. I had been thinking of getting something because my Catahoula is very boisterous on a walk. She does try to slide it off her nose occasionally, though not as often as when I first started using it. What I don't like is that she will still try to pull (she is very stubborn) and then the part that goes around the muzzle ends up right under her eye. It DOES make controlling her a lot easier. She has tried to go after a cat, a squirrel, another dog and a chicken since I started using this. However, I was able to keep her from dragging me all over the place. She is totally fearless and this actually helps me control her even if she does have a fit occassionally and try to use her front paws to push it off her muzzle.

I have a 1 1/2 year old Boston Terrier/Chug mix who is horrible to walk on his harness. He pulls and lunges the entire time and even at 18 pounds it can be a pain. I've tried everything and have not been able to get him to stop.
I bought this head collar yesterday and put it on him when I got home. He's the kind of dog who hates things until he knows what they are for so after him wearing it for about 1/2 hour we went for a short walk. He did AMAZING!! He shook his head at first when he tried to pull ahead but after a couple tries (and treats) he realized he couldn't and walked right next to me with a loose leash. It was the best walk we have ever had since I got him as a puppy :) He is also VERY dog aggressive but when we came across another dog and he started to act up I just gave it a gentle tug and he stopped. I wish I would have bought it a long time ago.
There are a couple downsides, one being that it only comes in black :( and the instructions for getting it to fit properly are not very good. It took a few tries to get it right and it still needs some adjustment, especially since he has a shorter nose. Also, it's adjusted for the smallest size and there is a 6 inch long strap that just hangs from the collar and bothers him. I would definitely recommend though!

I love this thing. I use it on my 2 year old bloodhound. She loved to pull she liked to sniff everything pulling my down the street while walking her. She is around 130 Pounds. She has not pulled ounce while she has the head collar on. She walks right by my side I am now slowly taking it off, She is still not pulling, still walking by my side. I take her on walks every day, She is getting better and better. I could never of done it with out this. Its a pleasure walking her now.
Pros: helped alot! no more pulling!
Cons: size having to go up a size

We bought this for our dog in 2006, after he took off after another dog and pulled me down the stairs. With this collar he no longer pulls or tugs, and walking him is a pleasure not a battle. The dog gets excited when he sees the harness and readily submits to having it put on. We've even taken the dog hiking with this harness.
The sizing information is not accurate. The one I first bought was too large, but PetSmart allowed me to exchange for the next smaller size. Some people do mistake this harness for a muzzle.
The harness is beginning to fray and we will be getting another to replace it.
Pros: durability, excellent control without choking
Cons: sizing information is incorrect

This is an execellent head collar. It fits her perfect. She is getting adjusted to it now. She's doing great on it though. She sometimes paws at it because it's across her nose.
Pros: very easy to control the dog

We purchased this for our 9 month old Boston/Cairn Terrier mix. Prior to the purchase, walking her was a little like walking a vacuum cleaner, as she darted around and picked up anything and everything off the ground, along with tugging constantly. We purchased a number of so called "training collars" and none seemed to help. We even purchased a regular muzzle, but that was just too extreme for walking her, as she fought , and tried to pull it off all through the walk. This collar was our last resort. The first time we used this collar, she began prancing with her head held up and her tail wagging. We now all greatly enjoy our walks and she will even walk in the heel position, something she never would do before. When asked about the strap around her nose I simple say it is a training leash and no one seems concerned. Actually just the opposite, people comment on how cute she looks the way she struts along. Since her nose is all black, it really isn't that noticable. Also we use this along with her regular collar and a leash that has clip on both ends, so not all of the control is on her nose. It just works beautifully!
We actually are about to purchase a second one to insure we don't have to ever be without it!!!
Pros: easily adjusts to fit puppies nose, padding seems very comfortable, controls dog without pressure
Cons: non

I purchased the size that was suppose to be designed for my breed and I think I should have bought two sizes down because it will not stay on. I used it on my other dog for one walk which was still too big for her and it worked fine as long as I kept it pulled taunt between us so it would not slip off. Not happy with this product.

It does not look great on the dog.... Some people question whether or not it is a muzzle (sounding like they think the dog is mean)... I usually have to explain myself but I do notice they are being used more often....
Great product though.... Definitely did the trick for my dog... He does not pull anymore!

I love this!! I have a lab mix and it took a lot of work, but I have finally broke her of the bad habit of pulling. Well... we got a great dane puppy who was 5mo. and no one had taught her any manners yet. Since she is almost as big as my other dog and walking two dogs is tough, to add to that I usually have my two young girls with me when we walk. I decided to take this short cut before the dog out weighed me. Can't hurt anyway since I will have my hands full with 2 dogs and 2 young kids. Well this does the trick. Easy to put on (as soon as an excited puppy stops wiggling) and has cushion on the top of the nose which I am sure is more comfortable then some of the others. Once I got it snug enough she couldn't get it off. It didn't take too long for her to get used to either.

When I adopted my lab he was full of energy but had no leash skills at all. He would drag me everywhere. I got this and it worked immediately. I was very skeptical, and it took a few minutes for me to figure out how to fit it on him properly, but after that it was wonderful. After using this for a while we were able to go back to using a regular leash with wonderful results. I only gave it two stars for appearance, and that is because some people see the strap that goes over the nose and assume that it is some sort of muzzle and think the dog may be dangerous. I didn't really care what people thought but some people may.
