Fantastic Indoor Dog House,

Pros: attractive and easy to assemble. Cons: railing and posts should have been made of vinyl
"Bought this to replace "crate" and my 1yr. old Yorkie LOVES it. Of course he set about chewing up the railing and posts. I capped off the posts with rubber chair/table leg caps and sprayed the railling with a litttle Bitter Apple and problem solved. My 3mo. old Yorkie is having a blast cliimbing to the upper deck. She doesn't seem to want to chew on it."

"I purchased this item for 3 semi-outside cats. I caulked the inside areas to prevent wind from penetrating, lined the inside floor and 3 sides with padding, and installed a cat door on the front. It was very easy to put together and would have taken me probably less than 30 min had I not caulked and cut/staple padding to inside, and installed smaller door on front. I took my time with this and I had the whole thing done in about 2 hours. This includes cutting and staining the 1x12 to cover the original opening and installing the cat door. Cats seem to like it although they are still getting used to the idea of using a cat flap door. I'm thinking about getting another one and connecting it to this one so that they have more room."

An "OK" Cat house-Needs Modified for outdoor use,

"I purchased this house for my indoor/outdoor cat. I've been searching the internet for weeks for an affordable,quality cat house (to no avail). This was very easy to put together, took me about 15 minutes, although I omitted the lattice and steps (which seem useless for cats) and modified the front entrance (see photos). I took both sides of the steps and cut them to fit the front, gluing them across the bottom part of the entrance. Since this will be used during the winter, I wanted a smaller opening and something more protective from snow and rain. My 15 lb. cat eases in and out of it without any problem with the smaller opening. And yes, I did have to caulk it, it would have most definitely leaked, there were gaps between the wood. I caulked the top and sides, sealing every single seam. I also gave it a coating of waterproof stain (additional supplies cost $15). The wood is thin and it’s aromatic but not overwhelming. My cat seems to like it, taking to it quickly and it will keep him dry and warm, serving its purpose. Worth the price even on sale? Probably not, but with the modifications I made, I think it will work fine for my cats needs."

"I wanted our "girls" to be able to see outside and they can definately do that. With that said it is a tad short (they have to be on the hind legs) for our window, but maybe not for some. It does show lots of teeth marks so if you have a chewer be sure to watch. And the steps do nothing but get in the way of jumping on and off."

"I bought this doghouse to use when my 6 cats are outdoors in their large kennel. The price was good. Size was perfect. Quality was excellant and assembly was simple and easy. Only change I made was to give it a coat of waterproof stain. Works perfectly and my cats love being able to sit on their own little "deck" to bask in the sun. Highly recommend it."
