I have a 75 pound lab and a 45 pound german shorthaired pointer. I was worried whether this would work on my "I-don't-feel-pain" lab. I don't have his collar set any higher than a level 4, and the warning beep is enough to keep him in the yard. Adding the second collar was extremely simple. My batteries lasted around 6 months, which I am happy about. I am extremely happy with this investment and highly recommend it.

Beau got hit by a car even though we were watching! We got online and read the reviews. We ordered the product, It is wonderful as soon as he was shown the flags and went thru the first training sessions he knew! We feel like he is very safe now.

It's a good idea but...

Mostly I'm disappointed because I though that the dog would get a warning before he got shocked. I thought it would beep then if he continued, the shock would come. However, the beeps and the shock come together. Also, he must run back to the house a good 8-10 feet before it stops shocking him. I would like to see a gentle reminder and less punishment. Other than that limitation, it seems to work as described. People need to understand, too, that properties are rectangular and this covers a circle so parts of your property may be inaccessible to the dog.

We just obtained a new dog a couple of weeks ago. The previous owner used this product and recommended it to us. We "thought" could do without it since we have a fenced in back yard. Guess what-the dog wants to be in the front yard where we are. I got this product and after just one day---he is able to run loose in the front yard. He learned his boundries very quickly and will not even get close to the boundry. I feel comfortable letting him outside now. I LOVE this product and highly recommend.

over the last 3 years we have bought 5 collars for our 2 dogs. one of the red collars must have broke in the woods behind our house never did find it and the other 4 do not work at all .we have a lot invested with 2 transmitters and 3 collars.

I rent a huge piece of property and it doesn't have a fence. It's next to a road and before I got the wireless fence, I was constantley chasing my 4 dogs to keep them
from running on the road when they saw another dog and worried they would be hit by cars. It's was expensive BUT worth it. The first day of training, all 4 dogs got their first ( level 3 ) zap and that was it..they high tailed back into the safe zone. Now they hang outside with me and when they see another dog.. they try to run out of the safe zone and qiuckly return. Excellent product and I have peice of mind that my dogs are safe. thank you Petsmart !!!

I love this product. We wanted some way to keep our dog safe without keeping him on a chain. We rent so installing a wooden or underground fence was out of the question. I borrowed a friends to see if it would work, to our amazement our dog quickly learned his area with only a about three corrections. He is safe and my husband and I don't have to worry about him roaming off while we are at work. Going to purchase my own now ..

I debated on buying the wireless dog fence for about a month, and finally gave it a try. I was amazed at how great it worked. My Matlizu would always wonder to the neighbors as soon as we would let him out. Now he stays right in our yard. I wasn't sure that this would work, but now I would recommend it to anyone. It is well worth the money and so simple to set up. I just tried one location in our house and it was perfect. If you are like me and not sure about this product give it a try.

This fence was very hard to use because I hated seeing my baby boy shocked. I am thankful for this product because he would have been run over by now. He can shoot out the door faster than you can say no! He has adapted to his space very quickly. And it is a relief that he can go out with no harm to him. He loves to play outside so with this we can both be happy. I would love to have an extra collar
but they are a little pricey!!!!

I'm SOOO relieved I found this product!! I have an 11 month old Scotty and she's a MESS! Her favorite game is to bolt from the yard and have us chase her till we could barf! She pretends not to hear us as we beg her to come back. I was ready to just let her run amuck and hope for the best but then we saw this delightful invention! LIFESAVER!! I mean, for us AND her!! She was gonna get run over eventually.
Instructions say 14 day training. Ummm...try 2 ZAPS!! She learned in ONE DAY PEOPLE!! We were soo happy!! Very easy to set up. Did it alone and finished fast. She has calmed down a LOT now that she can roam free w/in the yard. She thinks she's a big girl now and calls the shots:) I'm really glad she's happy.
We now have a new puppy and gonna order his new collar right now. What an awesome invention!! Peace of mind is PRICELESS!

I ordered this system after much research. The product is wonderful, was easy to train the dogs (year Jack and 10 year old Shepherd) to watch the borders. Works great for me because I have acreage so am able to use the highest setting. Customer service was great with a tiny tiny issue with size of prong sent and they had a replacement in the mail immediately! I anxiously await the day when the receivers are smaller. My only complaint is that, for a small dog the weight of the receiver is kind of heavy. Battery life is good, about 2 months. Thank you Petsafe for a great product!

Dont buy if you have a built in garage

We bought this product on recommendation of a friend. In the store, we were advised it may not work if we had a sloping yard. When we tried to set up the fence the slope in the yard was fine. The problem was that with 2 cars in the garage, they blocked the signal and the boundary kept moving.

I have had this system for 2 weeks now and my 1 year old lab/great dane mix will not dare venture past the boundries. This is the dog who would take off after anything and anyone that caught his eye, i.e. people, squirrels, dogs and even bugs! When he would bolt from the yard, he was gone in seconds! Now he only chases what falls in to the boundries and watches attentively that which is beyond his reach. I would recommend this product to anyone!

We have two large dogs, a boxer and a boxer-lab mix. Both have been effectively retained within our boundary, despite constant tempations (other dogs, horses, cows, people ect.). Overall, a major stress reducer in our lives. The only downside is that one shock prong from each collar fell off within the first 2 months. Within 3 months, the second shock prong fell off one collar, and the device has since been lost on our property somewhere. As of now, they've yet to test the boundary. Once they do, they'll realize there to be no correction. Not looking forward to that day. So use electric tape to keep the device firmly attached to collar.

I have an English Mastiff that has been on this collar for over 2 years. He has plenty of room to play and I dont have to worry about him roaming. The only con I have found is that the boundry is not always exact, but he recognizes the tone and stops. This is partly because of the terrain of our land. I am ordering another collar to add a playmate fro him to our family. I have all the confidence in the world in this system!!!!!

We adopted a dog through border collie rescue. She would just run through our underground invisible fence. We were stressed out any time a door would open. She would just dash out and run away in the neighborhood, being gone for hours. We go to our cabin and had to have her tied up for fear of running away into the woods. We considered releasing her back to the rescue group because it was so stressful.

My husband found this system and it has been short of a miracle. We transport the unit back-and-forth to our cabin and home. We can open doors and not worry. We are all much happier and relaxed. Izzy can just be a good dog and know where her boundaries are.

I never thought this would happen. We are so happy we could keep Izzy and know that she would be safe and secure.

Make the investment

I purchased this wireless fence unit a month ago and have been so pleased with the results. It was very easy to set up. Within 2 days of training our dog on his new perimeter of the yard (50lb. active dog), he learned where his allowed area was and has never tried to go past it.
I thought about spending a lot of money on the expensive fencing systems for our large yard, but decided to try this unit out since it was much less of a money risk. I'm so glad I did because this was exactly what I hoped for and well worth every penny.
My dog is so much happier now that he can go around our yard leash free and I don't have to worry about him approaching the street or wandering away.
