I am so glad I bought this feeder! I usually feed my cats wet food twice a day, but I love having this feeder as a backup. I have a pretty crazy and inconsistent schedule, so I like knowing that if I come home late or have to rush out of the house early in the morning, or even just want to sleep in on the weekend, my cats won't be starving! It was very easy to program and it is definitely a money-saver as I often go out out town for just a night or two at a time and that way I don't have to pay someone to come feed my cats. I've had it for almost a year now and still haven't had to replace the batteries, so that is awesome too! Definitely recommend for anyone who wants to make sure their cats are fed consistently even if the owner's schedule is pretty unpredictable!

Works well, long lasting

I have had this feeder for about 5 years now and so far it is still working great. I use it daily and my cat's first meal is fed before I wake up and he gets a total of 4 small meals throughout the day. It helps him stay full and not beg for food and stay on a good diet and maintain a regular feeding schedule. It can be reprogrammed easily if I go out of town for a few days to allow it to turn once a day. It even survived a husky trying to break in a chew it open to get the food inside.

I love only having to feed my cats once per day now. I fill up the five compartment feeder each night and I am set for the next 24 hours.
I can't leave out large amounts of food due to having one cat that over eats. With this product I can be out late and not have to worry about them being hungry.

If you have two pets, a good trick:
We bought two feeders. We set the time on the feeder for the more aggressive cat one minute earlier than the other, (they eat different food due to urinary and teeth problems), so when the motor noise sounds, the first cats runs for it, and the second now waits a until he hears it a second time, then casually strolls over.
We bought two feeders for our two cats right before the holidays. We used to have neighbours who would come up and feed our finicky cats twice a day, but they moved away. During our trip, we had people coming in to check on the cats once a day, but they were able to come in to play with them and refill the feeders whenever they had time instead of a strict feeding schedule. It was a huge relief.
Once we returned home, we decided to keep using the feeders, as we travel pretty frequently and don't want to keep upsetting their routine. I've noticed a big difference in our cats behaviour, they don't meow at us anymore for food as feeding time nears. If you have a cat who wakes you up early to eat, I really recommend this product. The motor sound is a perfect cue, our cat literally flies off the bed and runs for it.
I read reviews on other feeders, and decided to go with this one because we didn't have a lot of time before our trip and didn't want to risk it not working. This one had the best reviews by far, so I thought I would add my two cents! It's great!

Has worked great for over 2 years

LOVE this automatic feeder! It isn't too complicated to program and its been working amazing (and on the original batteries!) for over 2 years! Our cat was waking us up at 4am every morning begging for breakfast so this was the answer to our problems! Within just a couple days he completely stopped asking us for breakfast and learned to just sit and wait for it to go off. Like other reviews, our inside label was already coming off but it didn't get in the way of the feeder, I put a little tape on it just incase. In the beginning it was hard to remember to fill every 4 days but it became a habit.

Great to program, works well. I only use this if I'm going away for a night or two, hasn't failed me yet!
Only negative is that you have no indication how much battery life is left so if I'm setting it for a weekend, I have to set it while i'm there to check to the batteries haven't died. Always remove the batteries when not in use to save the batteries.
Good for kibbles only, not for wet food as there's nothing to keep food cold.

I am not one to write reviews, ever...but this feeder has saved my cat from a lonely life on the streets. Before I bought this he was waking me up EVERY night around 3am. He's 17.5 lbs with a healthy appetite. This feeder allows me to monitor the amount of food he eats at one time. It took him about 2 days to figure out the noise from the feeder meant more food :)

This product EATS batteries! 4 x D batteries get drained within one night and a mere 5 rotatations. An utter waste of money and incredibly poor design. Wish I'd never bought it.

I can't say enough good things about this feeder. The batteries are lasting forever. Literally, it's been years and they're still going. With this feeder I know that Elliot is fed every day like clockwork. He doesn't ever bug me for food, since he doesn't associate me with getting fed anymore. I can also leave for a couple days (for a weekend for example) and not have to worry about him getting his food. Truly a set it and forget it product, couldn't be better.
I recommend this product to friends all the time.
Pros: durable, easy to clean

Blue gel ice packs don't fit below the tray

For dry food, this feeder would be fine, but with only 5 servings available, it's not as great as my PetSafe Le Bistro portion control feeder with capacity for several weeks of dry food.
I'm still looking for a suitable product for feeding my cat his beloved wet food while we're out of town. In this unit, I like that there are 4 hidden compartments which would allow me to feed my cat twice daily for a 2-day weekend trip. The clock is intuitive to set (I set it for 8am/8pm). The previous label issues reported by other reviewers have been addressed as this feeder has been slightly redesigned. They removed the old stick-on instruction label from underneath the lid, which would begin to peel at the corners from the moisture, and the label's sticky side would catch on the bowl as the tray turned, which would jam the motor. The slight redesign works perfectly... but it still doesn't work for me.
I need something to keep the wet food cool enough for 2 days so a pet sitter doesn't have to come every day. The space below the tray isn't tall enough to fit the smallest blue gel packs from Rubbermaid. Regular ice melts too quickly. On a recent trip, the wet food became rancid after a couple days, and my cat got sick when the bowl wasn't cleaned out by the lazy pet sitter. I wish that someone would make a wet food feeder that is tall enough below the feeder trays to fit the smallest 1" thick rubbermaid blue gel packs to keep wet food fresh. For now, I'll have to rely on my dry food feeder alone for weekend trips.

Does not work properly

November 6, 2011
by BellsIsHungry

The most frustrating purchase. We returned this product immediately. There is NO indicator light on the OUTSIDE of the device to tell you it is "on" or "set" or "activated".
The individual bowls do not have a numbering system, so you don't know if they have actually rotated or not. When we went to manually rotate the bowls (to see if the think was even working) they only turned a quarter of the way, so only a portion of the bowl was exposed.
Very difficult/confusing to set the times; and if you remove the batteries, you have to re-set the clock and re-set the feeding times ... every time.
There has to be a better way.

Love this feeder for my kitty who cannot be trusted out at night by himself. He likes to take a walk on the outside of our second story banister which could end up in a fall. So Benji is shut in my bedroom at night and when he hears this feeder go off for an early morning snack, Benji runs to it and lets me sleep an hour or two longer.

I bought this because my cat eats wet food and I was going out of town for the weekend and couldn't find a friend to come over and feed him. I felt a little weird about leaving wet food in the feeder but it claims it is for dry and wet food so I assumed it would be safe. I was so wrong!! I came home on Sunday and opened it to make sure it actually worked and it was full of fruit fly larvae. I haven't been that disgusted ever.

I have a little "big" cat that is obsessed with food so needs to have his food portioned out and since he is very very vocal does not wake me up in the morning when it is time to eat. I've had this product now for 2 years and LOVED it. Have changed the batteries only twice now, no issues with chin acne and has been reliable with no issues of it rotating. However, my determined cat has been pushing it around the kitchen floor trying to get in with no avail - until this last week. He has finally figured out how to get into it and breaks into it multiple times a day now when I am out of the house. I'm at a loss and don't know what to do. I can not use it anymore as he will get to all the food.
Pros: easy to clean, durable
Cons: Doesn't Hold Enough Food or Water

Well, the felines decided that we all needed to be up at 4:00am EVERY morning... or ELSE!!! I have 3 indoor furballs and after reading the reviews, decided it was at least worth a try. And I REALLY NEED TO SLEEP, so here goes:
After a half hour of peeling off the sticker under the lid as everyone suggested, I was so mesmerized with pulling off this sticker that I did not realize that it was the actual directions for setting the clock/timer. But after looking it up on the manufacturers website, that was resolved instantly.
Put in the batteries, set it up... did a test run! And WOOHOO, it works! No problems what so ever! Yes, it's a tad loud but seriously after about 2 days, you will never notice it! I have regained my sleep pattern, the fur babies are happy and so is everyone else.
Very happy with this purchase and I would definitely recommend this to others! My ONE and ONLY complaint would be that it is a 5 tray feeder, HOWEVER the first tray is open... so in reality, it's only a 4 tray feeder for future uses.

The concept is excellent, unfortunately it doesn't rotate reliably. I purchased one, tried it for a week and it would only rotate fully 1 of the 4 times per day. I exchanged it for another hoping I just got a bad one, but no, the 2nd feeder had the same issue. It would turn once but would stick on the 2nd or 3rd feedings. Not reliable enough to trust while I'm at work or away.

I bought this to feed my cat on a regular schedule since I am not always home at the same time each day. She loves it because she can hear when dinner's up (it makes a pretty loud whirring noise when the bowl is twisting to the next space) and I love it because it helps with her diet and I can feed her for five days all at once.
It should be noted that these things will get really disgusting really quickly (greasy from the kibble, hair everywhere) and should really be cleaned after every 5 day cycle. Other than that though, its a dream! Wish they made them look a little more aesthetically pleasing, though.

I read the reviews and right off the bat knew to remove the sticker on the inside... as a matter of fact, it was already curling upon opening it up. So I did all that, set it up and waited for the first timer to go off and... it barely moved!! After reading a handful of the bad reviews, I thought maybe I got one already broken. Not really wanting to go back to PetSmart to return it, I kept messing with it and that's when the forehead smacking solution occured: the rotating tray was NOT pushed down all the way!!!
See, once you place the tray on the spindle, it looks like its fitted properly... the lid closes, everything looks just right. But turns out, because of the rubber foam grips around the spindle, you may think the tray is on right but it might not be. Really check this 100%... I mean, don't push it down so hard that you break the spindle/motor, but you might be surprised of you find you can actually push the tray down farther that it already is. The minute I figured that out... bam, the thing worked PERFECTLY!
My cat has no fear of the sounds, so sorry about those w/ skittish pets, and he took to it just fine without any complaint. I'm a person who has to wake up at 6:00 anyway but my pet would start meowing at 4:30 and I nearly wanted to strangle him. Not any more! Only complaint is that it is a little bulky (lengthwise, but low to the ground) and I am worried about longevity. With the material involved, this looks more like a $40 product rather than a $60 one. but if this breaks, I would totally get another.
I also think its rather obvious this is for a single cat and silly to complain about a product that really wasn't meant for multiple animals.

Boris has been on a diet for a year now, don't know why I didn't consider a feeder before. He is still addicted to food, but we can now relax and Boris has found he now has nothing to complain about. Without us having to watch a clock, he now gets 4 smaller feedings instead of the 3 daily we were trying to work around. At 5 AM he is now playing with his mouse and not talking loudly for us to get out of bed.
Only problem I had was using new batteries that were still "in date" but by replacing with newer ones the dish would finally rotate. I could program with the first batteries but dish would not rotate. Be sure you have fresh batteries to use. And enjoy your healthy cat!
