Pros: easy to train Cons: the wire that comes in the kit seems very cheap.
"I looked at reviews, I debated weather to buy, then I bought this fence on sale for less than $190 at PetSmart...I have lab who is only a year old and is very hyper...I had my doubt because of how hyper she is. But in less than 8 days I left her on her own for 1 hour and when I returned home, there set Molly in the yard just as happy as can be...I was very surprised.....I would recommend this to anyone with dough how easily that it works..I found out that one impotent thing to remember when first training to make sure that the boundary setting is at least "5". I would recommend buying a heaver gauge wire, single strand, the wire that comes with the kit seems a little flimsy. You can buy a 500 foot role at Lowe’s for about $30. And I feel in the long run it will be money well spent…"

"My wife and I decided to buy one of these for our mini dachsund. It was nice to see they carry a model for small breeds under 8 pounds.
The workers at the store were extremly knowledgeable and provided excellent imformation.
We got it home and watched the DVD. The VD gives tips on how to install, train your pet and troubleshooting.
Anyway we got home and determine thee best set-up for our house. We at first thought doing a "double loop" as we mainly focused on the backyard. However, we realized we could run it around the front of the house, but run it along the front of the porch and garage to prevent her from bolting out the front oor or garage.
From an install perspective I would say the most difficult part would be drilling the hole to bring the wires into the room where you will mounted the transmitter. My wife and I were lucky enough to have an existing hole from our srpinkler system electrical compoents we were able to pull wires through.
We then proceed to bury the wire. We used a straight shovel to do this. I would do the digging and went about 2 inches deep. My wife would insert the wire into the dirt. Pretty straight forward! When I did the digging I would go the 2 inches deep then push forward on the shovel to make it easier for my wife to insert the wire.
When we ran the wire across the front of the garage, we just buried it into the felt material in the cracks from the cement pour.
Overall this was a day project and well worth the money! We start the trainign today!"

Pros: audible beep before a shock, works!
"My lab wasn't a "runner" but he wouldn't stay out of the lake. I was tired of having a wet, stinky dog so I bought this system. It was amazing! He still goes swimming, but only if I walk him down to the lake on the outside of the fence. If he is on the inside of the fence, he doesn't even try. He is a very smart dog, and the training didn't take very long. I can count on one hand the number of times he got shocked. He learned that he couldn't go past the flags, then when the flags were removed learned that he should turn around when he heard the beep. Fencing in our lakefront yard would have looked horrible; this product kept our yard looking great, while keeping our dog in "bounds". This is the best purchase I have ever made!
The collar itself is a little flimsy. I cut holes in another collar that fit the electronic part, and it worked great!"

"My husband and I decided to purchase this product for our lab/boxer/pit mix who is 11 months old since he loves being outside and we have a baby on the way so we can't always be outside with our dog and our yard is not fenced in. We put it in ourselves which took a few hours but it was worth it. We had our dog trained within a week of installing it. He has gotten himself shocked a few times but he instantly realizes he is going outside his boundries and comes back to where he should be. We did have to put the longer prongs on the collar since he has alot of fat around his neck, but other then that we have had no issues since we put it in over a month ago. We can now let him be outside and not have to worry too much about him getting out of the yard. I do check on him every 10 to 15 while he is out but I am just being an overly cautious pet mommy."

"Our dog is usually very eager to please, but when he started becoming a teenager he challenged every command we gave him. Our street is very busy and there are a lot of children. He loves children and runs to them every time. This collar worked immediately. Now he responds quickly to every command. He is very proud of his collar and gets upset when we take it off."

"We purchased this along w/ an extra collar for our two Boston Terriers. Although it was hard work installing the underground wire (no rain in Texas makes for hard ground) this was the best thing we ever did. We LOVE this. I would recommend this to anyone! One downfall in this all is the amount of time it takes to get it in when you order it online. I really got frustrated with that!"
