PetSafe Cat Flap

Let your cat pass through any interior door. Give your cat access to her litter box without giving her litter box access to your home! This durable cat flap fits any interior door that's 1" to 2" thick. Your cat can come and go from the room where her litter box is housed even when the door is closed. A sliding lock gives you the option to bar access whenever you choose. For pets up to 12 lbs.

As owners of an indoor dog and cat, we had a problem with our Boxer constantly trying to eat our Siamese cat's food; and couldn't keep him out of her litter box. We installed the Pet Safe Cat Flap on a small coat closet. The floor space in the closet was the perfect space for her litter box, her bed and her food/water bowls. Now we don't have to worry about the dog in the cat's territory or constantly cleaning up a mess. No problem with her using the flap, she adjusted immediately. SHE LOVES IT! She's in/out of her little "house" dozens of times during the day to eat/drink and use her litter box. I believe she feels safe having this area. Also the sliding lock is great to use when I'm cleaning house. She thinks sweeping and mopping is play time. She always tries to jump on the floor steam cleaner, which is dangerous. She was always tracking up the floors before they would dry. Now I can put her in the closet and lock the cat flap until the floor is dry. Another problem solved. Thanks PetSafe!
Pros: easy to install, safe for cat, quality/good price

I purchased this inexpensive door so I could move the litter box from the bathroom floor to inside the linen closet.
The door it was installed onto was a 4 panel hollow-core door. It fits nicely under the bottom panels and matches the white door. However, when the cat door is open you can see the inside of the door. This would be a HUGE disadvantage if the backside of the door was visible like on a bedroom door. Since it's on a closet I don't mind.
Installation was fairly simple. I used a hand saw to cut the opening that I traced from the instructions. The fit was snug so I am not worried about the foam tape not being secure enough. Only the bottom two screws actually went into the wood but the top seem to be holding fine.
My cat has adjusted well to the door. I just used a bowl of food to show her how to open the door herself. I am considering removing the magnet from the bottom as it's not necessary in our situation and I don't think she likes the resistance it creates.
All in all it is a fine door for the price. It was exactly what we needed!
