"My dog uses these steps every day. They're also the perfect distance apart for ease of use. They also support my weight for an extra stool."

So far so good!,

"We just got these steps for our 1.5 year old Basset Hound, Watson, who weighs about 55 pounds and just had knee surgery so we needed a way for him to jump up on the couch and the bed without hurting his back or his knees. Bassets are quite large but also pretty short. I think the key to getting any dog to use these steps is training patience and persistence. He would rather use the steps to go up - once we helped him figure out that going up the steps was much easier than jumping up. Getting down is a different story. He usually uses the steps to get down off of the bed, but when he's in a hurry he doesn't use all of the steps - but still he's jumping from a lower elevation than he would be jumping off the bed. To get off of the couch though, he is just jumping. I don't think it's the steps though - I think that means he just needs more training. The steps are light weight but they hold his weight just fine, they are wide enough so a big dog like him is comfortable on them, and they are high enough that they level out with the bed and our couches. We're headed back to get two more so we don't have to move them around as much, but they very light and easy to lift - they're just bulky and they do take up a lot of space."

Okay but needs improvement.,

"My cat used these right away without a problem. However, my bounding dog had some issues. First, there is not a nonskid bottom, so it does move a bit when my dog bounds up the steps, which concerns me. Second, the carpet on the steps is not removable and therefore not the easiest to clean. However, they are a good height and the steps are manageable for our beagle-mix dog and cat. You might just want to be aware it only holds up to 70 pounds and can slide!"

"We have a very small 4 1/2 lb. dog and when we got our adjustable bed she could not jump up on the bed anymore. She was very hesitant and was afraid of the steps. What it was seemed to be her nails making noise on the plastic. So we put a rug runner on it and presto! She runs up it like nothing now."

Petmate pet steps,
August 17, 2007
by Suzanque
from Midland, TX
"I looked all over for steps for my four dogs, ranging from a Chiweenie (10 lb.) to a beagle mix (50 lb.), these steps are perfect! I went back to my PetSmart for another set of steps and they had sold out! I trained one reluctant dog with treats up and down the steps. A must have older dogs(I have 2) and small dogs(I have 2). One small, older dog is going in for surgery next week. The steps will keep her from a jumping injury. The price is great compared to other steps I have looked at."

Works as advrtised,

"My 12 year old Cocker was having trouble getting up on the bed at night. I couldn't find anything short of junk to spend my money on. The "As seen on TV" stairs were just too cheap and flimsy. I was pleased to find this item because it is sturdy and designed perfectly for a dog to climb. My dog quickly learned to use them and now life is better for both of us."

"Our dog does not like these at all. She feels unsteady on them and does not use them. We're hoping when our puppy comes in August that she will use them. The steps are pretty close together."

PetMate Steps are great,

"My little Chiweenie (Chihuahua-Dacshund mix) dog could not jump up on the bed. I bought these steps for her and now she can get up on the bed anytime she likes without me having to help her. These steps are excellent for very small dogs!"
