Super Dog House, November 14, 2006
by Josieho from Helena, Montana

"I had been searching for a dog house with an opening on the long side of the rectangle shape and figured I'd have to build it myself. I should have known better. PetSmart always comes through with the perfect product. Being female and living alone, I thought assembly might be a problem, but "Nope!" It could not have been easier. A few screws here and a few screws there and done. For the money, the quality is great, it's attractive on my front porch, and I and my 5 dogs love it. Thank you, PetSmart for another pet problem solved."

Cheeto's new crib!

Pros: easy to put together

"This was so simple to put together, done in 30 minutes! My lab loves it, the only thing I might see as a problem is he's a little on the heavy side and the boards on the bottom could potentially break over time under his weight, but we'll see. Looks great on the porch and seems to be a great protector from sun and weather."

Outback dog house, June 3, 2009
by matpat from Ontario

"Purchased this med size house, fit my Cocker Spaniel perfectly and he loves it. Yes it's light, but makes moving it a snap. Not light enough the dog can move it.

Looks super nice too. Wait to see how it handles the winter of Northern Ontario.

Definitely recommended."

appx 6week old house
User submitted photo
Pros: looks good
Cons: not solid construction, soft wood, no ancoring, not a durable product, not ment for lively dogs, large dog can flip it

"This house looks great but did not stand up to my 2yr old husky. Purchesed to replace the plastic house, boy was that a waste of money. Within a month it was wabbling, then the roof comes off. My dog keeps tipping the house over so daily we have to put the floor back in. NOT DESIGNED FOR A PLAYFUL DOG!!!"

Very nice dog house, March 23, 2009
by DPack from Orchard Park, NY

"I didn't want one of those ugly plastic igloos for my dog. This isn't meant to be his "home", because he's inside at night and when I'm gone during the day. But he loves being outside smelling the ground (he's a puggle) and it will provide shelter while he's out there and is attractive enough so I don't mind it being in the side yard for everyone to see.

It was incredibly easy to put together, even my ex-husband could have handled it. I didn't even need the instructions, which was good because the dog ate them before I had a chance to get it all together.

It's very lightweight, so it was easy enough for me to move when I changed my mind about its location. The problem with the weight, though, is that the dog was able to tip it over when the tie cable from his trolley run caught its roof corner.

My only complaint is that the screws that were included were not long enough to attach the roof to the walls. I had to go find some longer ones. All-in-all, I'm extremely pleased for the price and that I didn't have to beg my father to build one."

Everyone loves it!, March 17, 2009
by Rosebug from NC

Pros: stands strong, comfortable
Cons: dog was able to dig up flooring

"I bought this for my dog about a year ago. The assembly was easy because a gentleman at Petsmart was nice enough to practially put it together for me. My dog loves it. He's in it for shade but especially when it rains. He has chewed on it a bit but it is still standing strong. I'm impressed-he usually destroys everything."

Not made for a Lab, March 8, 2009
by timecrafter from Victorville, CA

Pros: nice looking, kept pet dry
Cons: wood was thin, didn't stand up to 13 month old lab

"The house is cute and it wasn't to difficult to put together. The problem is that my 13 month old lab has demolished it in about 4 months. She loved to lounge on the top but from the constant jumping up the building finally collapse. The wood was thin - had it been thicker, it probably would have lasted longer. If you have a less active pet - or one that doesn't jump so much the house would probably last longer. It did hold up well through the snow storms as far as keeping her dry."

Great for chickens and ducks too..., February 25, 2009
by Iliveformykatie from Des Moines Iowa

Pros: roomy i sat inside it, more than just dogs like it., easy to add a couple hinges for a lift up lid
Cons: soft wood- easy to chew, floor is drafty, whole thing needs a good caulking in the seams

"Hi, I bought one of the 45.5 x 33x 33 outback log cabins, mine is the dark trim and roof style. I actually bought this in store, it was an impulse buy, my aussie hates her igloo and has never went in the thing. Well, we got it home, assembled it- I slightly altered it, the roof now has a hinge on the back for clean outs and the floor is not attached as I wanted to be able to take the pieces out to clean. I plan on getting a rubber mat for the floor and I put a 3" high board across the bottom of the doorway, I also bought heavy mil plastic for upholstery and used two sheets screwed with a board across and many random slits to cut out the draft. My dog loved it. Umm, so did the chickens, they moved right in. So we added a nesting box and feeder and will be picking up sophie our dog another. My 3.5 year old, dog who is 45 pounds, two full size chickens and the duck were all in this prior to me putting the floor in. This thing is really big. All in all I love it, if your dog chews though this "cedar" wood is very soft and is likely to get eaten quickly. This house looks really nice and I am so happy because the chicken coop I had on back order was about 350.00 and this is soo much cheaper at 129.00 and a sale on top of that I think."

GREAT FOR THE PRICE, December 30, 2008
by Lisalisalisa from Tejas

"We have 2 dobermans so we bought 2 of these and we couldn't be happier! They were easy to put together and we have found the quality to be outstanding for the price. Our roofs are not leaking and they do not wobble as a few others have claimed. Ours stay put in our windy city and stay dry inside everytime it rains. Do a good job putting them together and they won't leak. Our full grown dobbies love them and use them extensively. They sit up off the ground a little which is a big plus! Roomy enough for our pomeranian to curl up inside with them too! The color has held up very well and after about 6 months, they still look brand new.

Very pleased!!!
You will be too."

It gets the job done, but cheap wood.., December 11, 2008
by Cissy1 from Cedar Park, Texas

"It's very sturdy and provides great shelter. The only complaint I have is the wood very cheap. Shipped to my home fast too. I've had my doghouse for several months now and it does the job. Looks great too!!"

Would not recommend, November 15, 2008
by kaydc from Graham, NC

Cons: roof leaks

"I bought two of these dog houses. Both roofs leaked the first time it rained. Very poor quality roof. Dogs love chewing the wood.

Very disappointing purchase for the price. I wil have to rebuild roof to make it useful."

questionable, August 26, 2008
by Jrsell from South of Nashville, TN

"Easy to put together, feels good at first. BUT. Poor quality, wind blows through it. Roof leaks at backside of house. Wood is not sealed very well. After first rain, I put two coats of spar varnish on it. I will also, have to insert another layer of wood to stop leaks through the gaps and will probablyy caulk it. I didn't realize the problems at first because we had not had bad weather or rain for two months."

Cute but Flimsy, December 28, 2007
by GlenieK from Abita Springs, LA

"The doghouse is really cute and the offset opening is a great idea to keep the pups out of the weather. The material used is lightweight and the roof begin to buckle after one rain. I can see that it will not be long before the roof begins to leak. I would not recommend this doghouse unless it is kept in a covered area, unfortunately I did not have this option and feel I will be shopping for a new doghouse soon."

My Lab puppy loves it, December 25, 2007
by jimmyd from Fort Walton Beach, FL

"I bought mine in Destin, Fl 2 days ago. It takes less than 30 min to build. The opening on the side is great because my dog can get out of the weather. I'm very impressed with the quality for the price. I also like the fact that the wood is off the ground to help keep the flooring and dog dry. This was my first Pet Smart purchase and I am now hooked.
Thanks
Jim"

Great Doghouse, April 23, 2007
by Isabell from New Orleans, LA

"My dog has lived on my patio since a puppy. I thought I would have trouble getting my dog to accept the doghouse, but she loves it.

I like the fact that my dog can get out of the wind and rain by moving to the far side of the doghouse. We are in the South and it gets hot outside, but not inside the doghouse."

Expensive Chew Toy, February 17, 2007
by teresat from Douglasville, GA

"This
is a great looking house but the wood is thin. I had no idea my 5 month old bloodhound
Elvis would find it so tasty. He has chewed every part he can get his
mouth around. We have tried putting everything on the house to stop his
chewing from Yuk purchased at Petsmart, Hot sauce,
dishwashing detergent. Nothing stops him. He loved the hot sauce. This
house won't last a month."

This house is worth the money., January 30, 2007
by HayGirl from Schellsburg, PA

"Nice, stylish instant shelter for our dog when she is tied outside during the day. We were able to assemble it within an hour. The roof is a little cheap but the house sits on our backporch so that is not an issue but one could always add roofing shingles to it if it is to sit outside in the weather. I like how the opening is offset, so the dog can curl up and stay out of the wind better. I would def recommend this doghouse to anyone that is looking for a quick shelter...beats having to build; our time is worth something too."
