Pros: clean litter for your cat(s)
Cons: seems to always think it is jammed.

"I bought this box about two weeks ago... So far, it has worked pretty well.. My only real issue is that it does 5 runs like it is jammed but the comb makes it all the way to the end & home... so there is nothing blocking its path. With 3 cats, the plastic containers get filled every 3-4 days so I plan on reusing them at least once to save money. The sleep timer is heaven but it causes an issue in the morning since the litter has really dried in that period of time. Its been so far, a worth while purchase because at least now, my cats can go on clean litter."

Litter box, May 30, 2008
by Claude from West Wendover, NV

"Our Yorkie (yes, it's a dog) loves his litter maid box--It works great for us. I use the fresh step cat litter and have had no problems. If you're careful putting the receptacle on properly, it works fine. I don't have anything fall on the floor, other than if Sparky steps in the wrong place when leaving the litter box, then the carpet ramp catches most of it.

The carbon filters do tend to fall off, but I think they do help, because we have no odor at all, and I have a very sensitive sniffer. I change the receptacle once a week and that seems to handle it all.

We live 175 miles away from the nearest pet shop that carries this item, so with gas prices at $4.01 for regular this morning, I am so grateful for online shopping and shipping."

Perfect, February 13, 2008
by magnoliablossom from Panama City, FL

"I have been using these for about a year now. I love the fact that there is no longer a smell from the cat litter. I also use the carbon filters in the top. The only time I do have some problems is if my cat goes on the side and that definitely will leave an odor."

Flimsy product, November 27, 2007
by Photogato from Cincinnati, OH

"We found this product to be a flimsy plastic that would not stay seated in the tray's mnounting tabs, Litter and feces regularly fall between the cracks, We have used painter's blue tape to hold it in place and a dowl across the middle to keep the tray in shape. The lid does not stay seated well in slopts of the plastic top that opens when the tray scoops the litter into the tray. We used the Litter Maid automatic litter box for a couple of months before going back to a regular litter box that is much easier to maintain."

Litter cleanliness, July 29, 2007
by Wendy1 from Virginia

"I have had cats for 30yrs. plus. Have 2 ragdolls at the present time. I have used different litter boxes. This one is by far the best. Keeps odors down noticeably. The cat does not have to jump into the box, just walks into it. They like that. Only have to clean every 3-4 days and sometimes 5. The key to it is to not let the litter get low. With proper litter it works great. Would recommend it to anyone that has cats, no matter how many. I reuse the inserts by spraying with "Lysol-Direct and washing them out in the garage sink. Works great for me.."

not impressed, July 19, 2007
by LashaD from Andrews, Tx

"The cartridge does NOT keep the smell inside. We had to put in an air freshener in the room where the litter box is because the smell was so horrible you couldn't even walk in the room. We've tried all kinds of litter with it to control the smell and nothing helps. We finally bought Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day powder for the litter box. It keeps the smell away but I have to use it everyday, and the powder doesn't have a very pleasant smell either.
The litter box rake gets stuck if the cat pushes even a little bit of litter too far to one side, the rake always has clumps stuck to it, and it is extremely noisy. Also, if you use any kind of cat litter that has the rocks in it, the rake will not work right. I had to use the Fresh Step litter that looks like sand before the rake would run right.
If I would have known any of this before-hand I would most definitely not have purchased this litter box. My sister has the exact same one as I do and the motor on hers died after only 1 month. I would not recommend this to anyone."

Littermaid Basic self cleaning litter box, June 27, 2007
by abba from Charlotte, NC

"Does a great job and the cat smell has been eliminated..the boxes are meant to go in one way only and if installed correctly work well..problems do occur if the box is put in backwards as litter falls thru the cracks, but the shape of the box matches the shape of the holder and after a few changes, we got the hang of it.."

More convenient than u think, June 22, 2007
by MsNekochan from Chapin, SC

"I got this wonderful suggestion from a neighbor who owned the same littermaid I use. Buy "small" plastic trash bags from the grocery store and use them inside the waste receptacle. They fit nicely. Then all you have to do is take the bag out, throw it away and replace with a new one. Do this once a day (more if u have multiple cats) and you get more usage from the costly receptacles, plus the bags don't cost that much."

Don't Buy it!, June 18, 2007
by margay from Toronto, ON

"The waste receptacles do not fit properly. The litter falls through because of this and the litter is all over the floor. The Rake does not get all the waste.

Wish I hadn't spent this much on an ineffective litter box."

A great solution for a fussy cat, June 2, 2007
by charsweb from Woodbridge, VA

"I have a very picky cat that prefers a pristine kitty liter box. I had to be ultra vigilent with my cleaning duties until the Littermaid kitty liter cox came out on the market. Its an electric heaven for any kitty, picky or not. These receptacles are easy to use and throw away as often as the owner wants. Until they are thrown away they are thick enough to keep down on any odors and when they are full the lids are easy to lock so that they can be placed in a garbage can."

I love Littermaid!, June 1, 2007
by LibbyFrogGirl from OHIO!

"I love everything about my Littermaid litter box. If my kitty could speak she would say she loves it too! I have had mine for 2 years. If you use the litter box & the Waste Receptacles as directed they work perfect! Sometimes a little litter spills off the side. But I put a little kitty mat thing there and just dump it when I change the litter box."

Litter Maid Waste Receptacles, February 27, 2007
by Scarlett from Mount Pleasant, SC

"I love the Litter Maid Litter Box system and find the receptacles to a pleasant alternative to the liners I used in a regular litter box. It's more sanitary and disposal is much easier and a lot less messy!"

Not So Great, January 13, 2007
by Cats12 from San Antonio, TX

"Littermaid is a great idea but needs to be improved on. For instance these plastic containers. For some reason they never really fit. The lids especially dont seem to fit in the holes...the lid always fall off. Next time I buy an electric litter box, it wont be Littermaid."

Best of the 3 litter boxes we own, November 12, 2006
by SealyLilly from moorpark, ca

"I seem to constantly be on the look out for new kittly litter box technology and we own a LitterMaid, a Petmate Purrforma Plus XL, and a Stylette LitterSweep. Of the 3 I am going back to the basic LitterMaid.... It has a sensor that won't let it operate while one of my kitties is inside doing his business. And it is pretty easy to clean although i do seem to have to touch poopies ever so often if i let it fill up too high. We have 3 cats and I just don't like litter box smell and the Petmate Purforma is already having issues with getting cat turds behind the rake causing it to hickup and make a repetitive noise that is pretty loud. If only the LitterMaid had a bag option like the LitterSweep."
